Sat Apr 17 2010 | 19:29 | Haeger rocked Saturday by the Giants |
Charlie Haeger was bombed for seven earned runs in three innings of work in Saturday's loss to the Giants. |
In his last start, Haeger racked up 12 strikeouts against the Marlins. Things went different this time around, which caused his ERA to balloon to 9.00. When Haeger's knuckleball -- which does allow him periodic success, to be fair -- isn't working, he is going to get shelled like he did today. His grip on a rotation spot could be slipping. |
Sun Apr 11 2010 | 16:25 | Dodgers' Haeger punches out 12 Marlins |
Charlie Haeger racked up 12 strikeouts while allowing four runs -- three earned -- in six innings versus the Marlins. |
Haeger took a no-decision in the Dodgers' 6-5 loss. He only gave up three hits in the outing, but he also walked four and gave up a three-run homer. Haeger's knuckleball will allow him periodic success, but he simply can't be counted on as a full-time option in any league. Those desperate for a start could look at using him against the Giants later this week, but it's a risky-at-best option. |
