Thu Feb 24 201113:46Rogers (shoulder) to be used cautiously
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Thursday that the club will be cautious with Mark Rogers until his shoulder improves.
Rogers, who has already had two shoulder surgeries in the past, felt some tightness during a batting practice session on Wednesday. "We're not going back to step one," said Roenicke. "But we're going to back off and not 'chuck' him in live BP. He's behind. (His schedule) will depend on what happens in those bullpen (sessions). He's on his own program." There's no timetable for him to return to the mound or pitch in exhibition games.

Wed Feb 23 201114:51Brewers' Rogers expects to be fine
Brewers prospect right-hander Mark Rogers expects to be fine after experiencing shoulder tightness on Wednesday.
Good news. Rogers has already underwent two shoulder surgeries during his career, so there's a natural cause for concern. The 24-year-old posted a 3.65 ERA over 116 innings on the minor league level last season and made his major league debut in September. Baseball America recently ranked him as the No. 1 prospect in a depleted Brewers' farm system.

Wed Feb 23 201114:27Brewers' Rogers has shoulder soreness
Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash said that prospect right-hander Mark Rogers experienced slight shoulder soreness on Wednesday.
Rogers cut his batting practice session short and could be seen talking with a trainer. The 24-year-old right-hander has already had two shoulder surgeries, so the Brewers obviously aren't going to take any chances. Hopefully it's nothing, but stay tuned for an update on his status.

Sun Dec 5 201010:37Rogers unlikely to be in Brewers rotation
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt writes that Mark Rogers "probably hasn't accumulated enough innings" to earn a rotation spot in spring training.
The former first-round pick made it back from two shoulder surgeries to throw 126 innings between the majors and minors last season. Other than control issues, which are somewhat to be expected when you're coming back from major surgery, Rogers fared well, including during his 10-inning stint with the Brewers. GM Doug Melvin notes that Rogers is "a determined kid," not to mention the fact that he has more talent than anyone internally being considered for a rotation spot. Keep an eye on how he fares this spring.

Fri Oct 1 201023:06Rogers stretched out a little more
Mark Rogers was allowed to spread his wings a little more Friday night, yielding two earned runs over five innings against the Reds Friday night.
Rogers, who was on a 60-pitch limit last time out, threw 74 pitches tonight. He struck out six of the 18 batters he faced while walking one and giving up two hits. The two shoulder surgeries are a red flag, but Rogers is on the radar as an NL-only sleeper heading into next season.
Sat Sep 25 201000:08Rogers throws three clean innings in debut
Mark Rogers threw three clean innings against the Marlins Friday night in his MLB debut.
Rogers, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2004 draft, was on a 60-pitch limit. He's coming off two shoulder surgeries, but is still only 24. There's upside here looking to next season.
Fri Sep 17 201021:13Rogers to make first start September 24
Mark Rogers will make his first major league start on September 24 against the Marlins.
The former first-round pick has thrown two scoreless relief innings since being recalled earlier this month. He should probably be left alone for fantasy purposes.

Sun Sep 12 201012:27Rogers will start against Marlins
Brewers manager Ken Macha said that Mark Rogers will start one of the games in the upcoming series against the Marlins.
Rogers was called up Friday and made his major league debut that night with a perfect inning of relief. The oft-injured former first-round pick has a 3.65 ERA and 8.8 K/9 rate in 25 starts between Double- and Triple-A (24 at Double-A) this season, though he has been wild with a 5.6 BB/9 rate. Stay away for now, but monitor him in NL-only leagues.

Fri Sep 10 201019:25Brewers call up Mark Rogers
Brewers recalled RHP Mark Rogers from Double-A Huntsville.
Rogers was selected fifth overall in the 2004 draft and missed two seasons with multiple shoulder surgeries. The plan is for the 24-year-old right-hander to work out of the bullpen initially, but Brewers manager Ken Macha said he could make a start during the upcoming series against the Marlins, which begins on September 23. Rogers posted a 3.71 ERA over 24 starts with Double-A Huntsville this season.
Wed Sep 8 201012:17Brewers expected to call up Mark Rogers
Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said there's a "strong possibility" that former 2004 first-round pick Mark Rogers will be called up to the majors this month.
Rogers' star has faded a bit after multiple shoulder surgeries, but his velocity is back in the mid-90s and he posted a 3.71 ERA over 24 starts with Double-A Huntsville this season. "If he can get a few innings in, he can benefit from it," said Melvin. "The work he gets in isn't as important as the experience of seeing what it's like in the big leagues for the first time." Rogers has swing-and-miss ability, but his command is still an issue. He might profile best as a reliever in the big leagues.
