Fri Aug 10 201223:12Mark Rogers outstanding in no-decision
Mark Rodgers was outstanding in a no-decision against the Astros on Friday, allowing just one run on three hits over seven innings.
Rogers walked two and struck out a career-high eight in the game. He didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning, where Chris Corporan's RBI single provided the only run against him on the night. He handed his bullpen a 3-1 lead, but again they were unable to uphold their end of the bargain, with John Axford blowing another save in the ninth. Rogers has pitched very well in two of his first three starts this year, and could be worth a look as a matchup play in deeper mixed formats the remainder of the season. He'll take on the Rockies next at Colorado on Wednesday.

Brewers optioned RHPs Mark Rogers, Mike Fiers and Wily Peralta to Triple-A Nashville.
Rogers has had numerous injury issues and has six games remaining on last year's 25-game stimulant suspension, but the Brewers were encouraged by how he looked this spring. "This is best my arm has felt in a long time," the righty said. Peralta is the team's top pitching prospect, but he needs more seasoning and there's no room for him in the rotation, anyway.

Mark Rogers has been suspended 25 games after a second positive test for a stimulant in violation of MLB's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
It's not clear at this point what drug Rogers tested positive for, but it appears it's a drug of abuse rather than some sort of performance-enhancer. The right-hander was already slated to undergo surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome in his right wrist, so he was not expected to return this year, anyway.

Mark Rogers has been placed on the minor league disabled list and is expected to undergo surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome in his right wrist.

Mon Jun 13 201120:45Rogers (carpal tunnel) will need surgery
Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash said Monday that Mark Rogers will eventually need surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome.
Rogers recently received a cortisone injection in his wrist, but it's just delaying the inevitable. "Initially, it has seemed to but we don't know how long-lasting it will be," said Ash. "We knew it would not be permanent relief and he knows it won't be permanent relief. His primary goal was to get through this season and then have a procedure." Ash said there would be a recovery period of 6-8 weeks following surgery.

Mon May 2 201118:17Rogers placed on DL with carpal tunnel
Brewers prospect right-hander Mark Rogers was placed on the disabled list at Triple-A Nashville with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome.
Yet another tough break for the former first-round pick. The condition was apparently causing Rogers to lose the feeling in his fingers. The 25-year-old right-hander posted a 9.45 ERA and 11/17 K/BB ratio over his first four starts with Triple-A Nashville this season, so that would certainly explain his struggles.

Tue Mar 15 201112:49Brewers option Mark Rogers to Triple-A
Brewers optioned RHP Mark Rogers to Triple-A Nashville.
The Brewers were hoping that Rogers might be able to fill in for Zack Greinke (ribs) over the first couple weeks of the regular season, but the 25-year-old right-hander is still battling shoulder issues and allowed two runs in his one-inning spring debut Monday. Milwaukee will have to look elsewhere for Greinke's fill-in.

Mon Mar 14 201120:23Rogers (shoulder) makes spring debut Mon.
Mark Rogers (shoulder) allowed two runs on three hits -- including a solo home run to Pablo Sandoval -- in his spring debut Monday against the Giants.
"Once I got going and got into it, my arm felt fine," said Rogers, who was limited with tightness in his surgically-repaired shoulder early in camp. "That's the important thing right now. Obviously, I wish the results were better. But, you know what? It's a step in the right direction." Rogers will need to build his workload over the next couple of weeks, but he remains a candidate to replace the injured Zack Greinke in the starting rotation to begin the year. Wily Peralta, Eulogio De La Cruz and Marco Estrada could also be possibilities.

Fri Mar 11 201117:34Rogers pleased with live BP session
Mark Rogers (shoulder) said he felt no pain and was able to loosen up a lot quicker and throw free and easy during a live batting practice session Friday.
Rogers was upbeat after the session, saying he's "making progress every day" and that the session was a "good step for me." It's encouraging news, as the Brewers need someone to fill in for Zack Greinke (rib) for a few starts, and Rogers is the best candidate. Assuming he has no setbacks, he should be ready for the start of the season.

Fri Mar 11 201114:13Mark Rogers throws live BP, feeling better
Mark Rogers (shoulder) threw a live batting practice session Friday in Brewers camp.
Rogers has been limited for the past couple of weeks by soreness in his surgically-repaired shoulder, but he's getting back on track quickly now and was mentioned by Brewers manager Ron Roenicke Wednesday as a possible replacement for Zack Greinke (rib) in the club's early-season starting rotation.

Wed Mar 9 201113:37Rogers (shoulder) candidate for rotation
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Mark Rogers (shoulder) is a candidate to replace Zack Greinke in the starting rotation.
Surprising information, given that Rogers had a scare with his surgically-repaired shoulder early in camp. On the bright side, he did throw live batting practice Tuesday and could be cleared to pitch in an exhibition game by the weekend. Assuming the Brewers don't look outside the organization, Maury Rivas or Wily Peralta could also be considered as a short-term fill-in. The Brewers and Greinke-owners are hoping he'll only need to miss a couple starts in April.

Mon Feb 28 201112:45Brewers' Rogers close to return to mound
Mark Rogers hopes to get back on the mound by mid-week after an encouraging throwing session Sunday.
Rogers has been kept off the mound because of some shoulder tightness. "I felt great yesterday playing long toss," he said. "It's the best I've felt all spring. We're slowly working our way back into it. I'm sure a bullpen is in the near future. I'd guess in the next few days. So far, it's responded better than I expected it to."
