Fri Jul 25 201409:40Adreian Payne finalizing contract with ATL
Adreian Payne is finalizing his contract with the Hawks.
He played in every game at summer league, but was very inefficient. Payne played a lot like former Hawk Josh Smith, setting up from the basket from beyond 15 feet and relying on his jumper. He's a big guy at 6'10", 240 pounds, but he's said focusing on his jumper this offseason is a priority.

Sun Jul 20 201416:11Adreian Payne aiming to improve jump shot
Hawks rookie Adreian Payne said that he hopes to develop a more consistent jump shot.
"Coach wanted us to play defense, rebound and run the floor," Payne said. The Hawks aren't likely to thrust their No. 15 pick into a huge role immediately, and it was clear during Summer League that Payne will need some seasoning at the NBA level. He averaged 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in Las Vegas, but shot only 37.5 percent from the field with 3.5 turnovers and 4.8 fouls in under 29 minutes per game.

Sat Jul 19 201420:16Adreian Payne plays well in loss
Adreian Payne made 4-of-15 from the field for 11 points with nine boards, two assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes.
He shot 1-of-8 from downtown and the Hawks really seem to be giving him the green light from out there. Payne shot at least four attempts from downtown in each of his six games in Vegas, which explains why his field goal percentage was below 40 percent in that span. He is at least a couple years away.

Tue Jul 15 201418:11No Payne, no gain: Adreian struggles again
Adreian Payne had another rough showing on Tuesday wit 13 points on 3-of-10 shooting with seven boards, two fouls, two 3-pointers and seven turnovers.
He has been playing too far away from the basket and it's led to a lot of big mistakes. Payne isn't having a great time out there in Vegas and he'll really need to redefine himself if this week is any indication.

Sat Jul 12 201419:14Adreian Payne scores 12 in debut
Adreian Payne missed all four attempts from beyond the arc as part of his 5-of-15 shooting line, scoring 12 points with seven boards, one assist, one steal, four turnovers and eight fouls in 30 minutes.
It was a sloppy game from the rookie, but he showed why the Hawks grabbed him. The four 3-point attempts are an interesting development and further support how much the Hawks love the long ball. Payne won't be worth drafting in almost any league.

Fri Jun 27 201417:09Adreian Payne will play in Summer League
Newly drafted rookies Adreian Payne and Lamar Patterson stated that they intend to play in the Las Vegas Summer League next month.
Payne is a capable scorer, but there's not much opportunity for him from a fantasy perspective playing behind Al Horford and Paul Millsap. Lamar Patterson also may find himself a bit buried in the rotation behind guys Shelvin Mack and Dennis Schroder, but the Summer League is a place where these guys can showcase themselves a bit. It's unknown if Walter Tavares will play as there's still contract issues to be resolved.
