Tue Aug 23 201109:36Report: Iverson being sued for 2009 incident
Allen Iverson is reportedly being sued by Guy Walker, Jr., a man who claims he was assaulted in 2009 by one of Iverson's security guards at South Beach Pizza Bar nightclub.
It's pretty sketchy that a man would come out almost two full years later and step forward with the allegations. Walker's legal representatives a look at Iverson's financial records, rap sheet and other personal information. It seems like he's digging pretty hard here for a lucrative payday, as the lawsuit against Iverson is for a monetary reward of $2.5 million. We'd take these allegations with a grain of salt until we learn more about it, but anytime Iverson's name pops up in the news with allegations like this one, it puts a further damper on his chances of returning to the NBA.

Wed Jul 20 201111:54Iverson reiterates he wants to keep playing
Allen Iverson reiterated that he wants to play in the NBA next season.
Iverson didn't mention anything about his calf, but he'll likely be feeling good by the time the lockout ends. "To be back on the biggest stage is my whole thing and I feel like I have a couple more years left in my career and I want to play," Iverson said. Still, AI looked more than a step slow last time in the league and his attitude prevents teams from taking a chance. We doubt we'll see him in the NBA again.

Thu Jun 9 201109:34Iverson not cleared for contact yet
Free agent Allen Iverson (calf) has yet to receive clearance for contact drills.
Iverson did not have surgery on his painful calcium deposit, instead just resting back in the United States. Now he wants a shot at an NBA team. "Just give me a training camp. ... If any team needs me to help try and win a championship in any capacity, I'm waiting," Iverson said. We highly doubt any NBA team will give Iverson a shot at age 36. We'd expect him back in Europe looking to collect a paycheck.

Tue Jun 7 201113:10Iverson says leg is completely healed
Free agent Allen Iverson said that the calf injury that ended his Turkish career prematurely is all healed.
Predictably, Iverson wants another shot at the NBA. But he didn't get any nibbles from the league last summer, turned 36 today and is coming off this major calf injury. We'd be absolutely shocked if an NBA team brought him in to distract them. Look for the financially-troubled Iverson to play overseas somewhere next season.

Tue Feb 1 201110:24Iverson won't have surgery after all
Allen Iverson will attempt to rehab his calf injury without undergoing surgery.
Iverson met with Dr. James Andrews and was diagnosed with a calcium deposit. He'll receive an anti-inflammatory injection Tuesday and is expected to need at least 4-6 weeks of rehab. Andrews confirmed that this is a real injury -- not an excuse made up by Iverson to get out of his contract with Turkish club Besiktas.

Sun Jan 30 201111:12Iverson won't be returning to Turkey?
Turkish club Besiktas does not believe Allen Iverson (leg) will return to them this season, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Iverson had a growth removed in the United States. That's one problem, but Iverson was likely looking for a way out anyway. His professional basketball career very well could be over.

Thu Jan 20 201118:03Iverson to get growth removed Tuesday
Allen Iverson will have the undetermined growth in his right calf surgically removed Tuesday, according to his manager Gary Moore.
Iverson is back in the United States after a brief stint in Turkey. Moore says that Iverson is "determined" to return to Turkey this season and hopes to get back there in 4-6 weeks. Still, this very well could be the end of the road for one of the best scorers in the history of the game.

Wed Jan 12 201116:18Iverson headed back to U.S. for leg surgery
The Associated Press reports that Allen Iverson will return to the U.S. from Turkey to have a lesion removed from his right leg.
"It has to be removed and tested to see if it's benign or not," said Iverson's manager, Gary Moore. "Once that's removed, Allen is going to look to rehabilitate his leg because the doctors tell him he'll be out four to six weeks, he's hoping to be able to play in the [Turkish league] playoffs." Though it's certainly possible that he will return in time for the playoffs, this painful (and potentially serious) injury certainly sounds like it could threaten to end the 35-year-old's career.
Wed Jan 12 201113:57Iverson headed for MRI on ankle injury
The Associated Press reports that Allen Iverson is headed for an MRI after injuring his ankle playing for his Turkish team.
Just in case you were under the mistaken impression that Iverson's career was thriving overseas. The MRI is scheduled for Thursday, at which point his immediate outlook should become more clear.
Sun Dec 5 201010:03Iverson done in Turkey?
After just two and a half weeks of playing for Turkish club Besiktas Cola, there are rumors that Allen Iverson is clashing with teammates and searching for a way out of Europe.
Shocker. The odds of Iverson, who is averaging 12.3 points per game in Istanbul, ever having meaningful fantasy value again are slim, but he still gets player updates because his situation is equal parts entertaining and sad. The writing is on the wall for a retirement announcement.

Allen Iverson's Turkish league game on Sunday will be broadcast on NBA TV at 3:00 p.m. EST.
If you don't like football, have the channel, and want to see a 35-year-old eventual first-ballot Hall-of-Famer play like a shell of his former self, this is your chance.

Allen Iverson scored 15 points in his debut for Besiktas Cola Turka Tuesday night.
Iverson's team lost to Hemofarm Stada, 94-91. Next time we hear from AI will likely be when this situation blows up.

Fri Nov 12 201017:28Iverson's debut w/ Turkish team delayed
Allen Iverson's debut with the Turkish team Besiktas has been postponed because A.I. "did not feel ready."
Iverson is an 11-time NBA All-Star and former league MVP, but his ego has recently tarnished his reputation even as his skills have declined.

Thu Oct 28 201023:34Iverson presser to announce signing Friday
Allen Iverson and his new team, Turkey Besiktas, will hold a press conference in New York on Friday to announce his two-year, $4 million signing.
It's been a rough fall from grace for Iverson, whose personal and financial struggles have mirrored his decline on the court -- a circumstance that created absolutely zero interest in him on the NBA market. Chances are, we've seen the last of him in an NBA uniform.

Tue Oct 26 201011:33Iverson deal to be finalized Sunday
The president of Turkey's Besiktas basketball team, Seref Yalcin, expects Allen Iverson to sign a two-year contract on Sunday.
Iverson, who has fallen on hard financial times of late, didn't even get a nibble on the open market in the NBA. Even the people in Turkey know he's a shell of his former self. "If he plays with even 50 percent of his NBA capacity, that will be enough," said Yaclin.

Sun Oct 24 201021:01Iverson agrees to 2-year deal w/ Turkish team
Allen Iverson has agreed in principle to a two-year, $4 million contract with Besiktas of the Turkish league.
Yahoo! Sports describes the deal as "incentive-laden," and Iverson will have the option to opt-out of the deal next summer. There simply wasn't any interest in him in the NBA, and that's unlikely to change in the next 12 months.

Mon Oct 11 201013:47Iverson close to deal with Turkish team?
Allen Iverson and the Turkish team Besiktas are working toward a one-year contract worth as much as $2 million with bonuses, but negotiations could stretch another 10 days.
One sticking point is Iverson's reluctance to let Besiktas fine him more than 1% of his $1.5 million base salary, a quirky problem to say the least. "We are in very serious negotiations," said Iverson's business manager. "Istanbul is beautiful from everything we've learned. It's not that far from the U.S., and the competition is good." Nonstop flights from New York to Istanbul -- 9h40m.

Sat Oct 9 201010:53Turkish team angling to sign Iverson?
The Turkish team Besiktas is reportedly hoping to sign Allen Iverson.
The (rough) translation reads, "[the two sides] could be now negotiating the last details of the contract," though the crucial word is "could." After months of waiting, it appears that there is no market for the 35-year-old Iverson in America.

Sat Sep 18 201010:15Allen Iverson 'unlikely' to play in China
Allen Iverson is reportedly "unlikely" to sign with the Chinese team Foshan.
It sounds like Iverson wants too much money, which is unsurprising even though there aren't any NBA teams vying for his services. Even if he does land on a team in the U.S. we don't anticipate reliable fantasy value (or humble acceptance of a backup gig).

Mon Sep 13 201017:04Iverson's manager shocked at lack of interest
Allen Iverson's manager says he's shocked that NBA teams aren't calling about his availability.
"We're very astonished, to say the least, that not one team has contacted us with any interest," Gary Moore said. "I just don't understand it." Let us help. He quit on the Pistons, then quit on the Grizzlies, then left the Sixers and has made it perfectly clear that his ego cannot handle a role off the bench for an NBA team. And since he no longer appears to have the skills necessary to start in the NBA, it all makes perfect sense to us.
