Sat Sep 29 201216:44Romero sent for precautionary tests on knee
Ricky Romero was sent for precautionary tests on his left knee after leaving Saturday's start with discomfort.
The pain he's experiencing is coming from where the quad meets the kneecap. Romero will finish his disastrous 2012 campaign with a hideous 9-14 record, 5.77 ERA and 1.67 WHIP over 181 innings. The left-hander is going to carry major question marks into 2013.

Sat Sep 29 201214:23Romero exits last start with knee injury
Ricky Romero was removed from Saturday's game with left knee discomfort.
He lasted just three inning before being replaced by Shawn Hill. The Jays are calling his removal precautionary, so this won't affect his offseason. After starting the year with eight wins in his first nine decisions, Romero has been an unmitigated disaster since the All-Star break, losing 13 straight decisions at one point. Under contract though 2016, the Jays will hope for better return on their investment next season.

Mon Sep 24 201223:26Romero awful again
Ricky Romero picked up a win despite struggling again Monday, as he allowed four runs on eight hits and four walks over just five innings in a 9-5 victory over the Orioles.
It could have been much worse. Romero left in the sixth with the bases loaded and no one out, but Brad Lincoln got out of it after allowing just one run to score. Despite another poor effort, the lefty won for the first time since June 22, breaking a string of 13 straight losses. He'll finish out the season with a start against the Yankees.

Wed Sep 19 201222:28Ricky Romero wild, but limits damage
Ricky Romero wasn't great Wednesday but limited the damage in a no-decision against the Yankees, allowing one run on seven hits and five walks over six innings.
Romero extended his AL-leading walk total to 99, but he somehow managed to hold the Yankees in check. Bizarrely, he's allowed just six runs over three starts against the Yankees over the last five weeks but permitted a whopping 21 over his other four outings. He'll take a 5.72 ERA and 1.64 WHIP into Baltimore next week.

Wed Sep 12 201222:21Ricky Romero struggled again
Ricky Romero was horrid again Wednesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and four walks over just four innings in a loss to the Mariners.
Romero has now issued a league-leading 94 walks this season, and he also served up his 20th homer of the year. The Jays should exercise some mercy and just shut Romero down at this point, but so far they've been hesitant to do so. If he isn't shut down, Romero will carry a 5.87 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in a matchup against the Yankees that figures to be a bloodbath.

Wed Sep 5 201216:37Romero's next start pushed to Wednesday
Ricky Romero's next start will be next Wednesday against the Mariners.
Romero was shelled for seven runs in less than two innings on Sunday in a loss to the Rays and now has a 5.85 ERA on the year. The Jays are hoping the extra rest will help. He'll get a full nine days between outings.

Sun Sep 2 201216:08Ricky Romero obliterated in loss to Rays
Ricky Romero was obliterated in Sunday's loss to the Rays, surrendering seven runs on eight hits in only one-plus innings of work.
Romero also walked one and didn't record a strikeout in the brief outing. Evan Longoria got the scoring started with an RBI double in the first inning, and then all everything fell apart in the second. Ben Francisco started the inning with a solo homer, then a walk and five straight hits chased Romero from the contest. He's been one of the biggest disappointments in the league this season, posting an 8-13 record and horrifying 5.80 ERA. He'll again look to turn things around when he takes on the Red Sox in Boston on Saturday.

Wed Aug 15 201222:16Ricky Romero goes back to struggling ways
It was another rough night at the office for Ricky Romero in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox, as he allowed six runs on eight hits and two walks in just six innings.
Romero struck out five, and served up a two-run homer to Dewayne Wise in the fourth. Romero had seemed to be getting on track heading into tonight's outing, tossing three consecutive quality starts, so hopefully it's just a bump in the road. As it is, the five-run outing was his seventh of the season. He'll bring an ugly 5.47 ERA and 1.52 WHIP into Tuesday's start in Detroit.

Sat Aug 4 201219:49Romero strong in no-decision vs. Athletics
Ricky Romero turned in a very strong performance in Saturday's no-decision against the Athletics, allowing just one run on three hits over seven innings of work.
Romero fanned five, and the only run allowed was Derek Norris' RBI double in the second inning. Romero had been brutal recently, with a 11.48 ERA over his last three starts, so hopefully this strong effort finally gets him back on track. He'll look to keep it rolling when he takes on the Yankees at home on Friday.

Wed Jul 25 201223:00Ricky Romero bottoms out in 16-0 loss to A's
Ricky Romero hit rock bottom in Wednesday's 16-0 loss to the A's, allowing eight runs on four hits and six walks while recording only four outs.
For good measure, he mixed in a wild pitch. Toronto's would-be ace in the absence of Brandon Morrow has now allowed at least four runs in 10 of his past 12 starts, and been tagged for more than six tallies four times in the process. Even with the Jays miraculously short on arms, it's fair to wonder if Romero will be skipped his next turn through the rotation. If not, he'll bring a 5.75 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 85/68 K/BB ratio into his Monday start in Seattle.

Sat Jun 16 201216:36Romero gives up four runs in no-decision
Ricky Romero yielded four runs over six innings Saturday as part of a no-decision against the Phillies.

Romero now owns a 4.28 ERA through his first 14 starts this season. Given the rash of injuries in the starting rotation, he's going to need to do better for the Blue Jays to have any shot at making a postseason run.

Wed May 2 201215:55Ricky Romero beats Rangers to move to 4-0
Ricky Romero gave up five runs over eight innings in a victory Wednesday over the Rangers.
Romero temporarily lost it in the fifth, walking three straight batters to start the inning and giving up four runs in all. Other that than, though, he was great. Those were the only walks he issued all afternoon, and from the sixth through the eighth innings, the only batter to reach against him did so on a Kelly Johnson error. Romero is 4-0 with a 3.64 ERA.

Thu Apr 5 201217:42Ricky Romero gives up four runs to Indians
Ricky Romero gave up four runs in five innings Thursday against the Indians.
All three hits and two of the three walks Romero allowed came during the four-run second inning, which featured Jack Hannahan's three-run homer. Romero's rep before last season was that one bad inning ruined a pretty high percentage of his starts. Still, he's a much improved pitcher from his younger days and today's mediocre showing should prove to be an anomaly.
