Sun Apr 10 201112:02Jack Wilson's status up in the air
Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Jack Wilson will return to the starting lineup "when I feel like we're to the point we can count on him."
Wilson is deep in Wedge's doghouse after he pulled himself out of Wednesday's game. "We're working through it," Wedge said. "There's a lot that happened yesterday, and it's unfortunate that was such a focus yesterday. That's one of the things that (ticked) me off about it. But ultimately, we'll continue to work through it. When I feel like we're to the point we can count on (Wilson), he'll be back in there. I'll let you know." Adam Kennedy will play second while Wilson sits.

And it doesn't sound like he'll be back any time soon. Mariners manager Eric Wedge said that Wilson asked to come out of Sunday's game, something he called "unacceptable" and "unthinkable." Tue Mar 22 201112:16Jack Wilson to start at 2B for M's this year
Jack Wilson will start at second base for the Mariners this season.
Brendan Ryan, a better defender, is going to start at shortstop. Wilson has actually done fairly well at the plate this spring and will look to carry over some of that momentum into the regular season. He shouldn't be bothered by the position change.

Sat Mar 19 201119:32Jack Wilson picks up three more hits
Jack Wilson went 3-for-3 with an RBI in Saturday's 9-8 win over the Rangers.
The shortstop is now batting a cool .500 over 26 at-bats this spring. Wilson is coming off a poor offensive season even by his standards, so it's nice to see him swinging a hot stick. We don't expect it to last, though.

Mon Feb 28 201113:14Jack Wilson loses 22 pounds over offseason
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Jack Wilson lost 22 pounds over the offseason.
We didn't realize he had that much to lose. Wilson now tips the scales at 177 pounds, which he says is the lightest he's been in almost 10 years. He wanted to lose the wright in order to take pressure off his chronically sore hamstrings. Though still a fine glove man, Wilson has tanked at the plate in recent years, hitting just .249/.282/.316 with no homers over 193 at-bats last season.

Sun Feb 27 201118:47Mariners' Wilson knocks in three runs
Jack Wilson drove in three runs with a pair of singles Sunday as the Mariners topped the Padres 13-12 in a charity game.
The Mariners want to see Wilson stay healthy this spring before they name him their starting shortstop. The alternative would be Brendan Ryan at the position, though Ryan might just end up starting at second base.
Mon Feb 14 201114:45Wilson loses 12 pounds during offseason
Jack Wilson focused on leg-lifting this winter in order to strengthen his nagging hamstrings.
The 33-year-old shortstop was limited to just 61 games in 2010 due to a variety of injuries, including season-ending surgery on his right hand. "For me, it's like 2010 never happened," said Wilson, who lost 12 pounds over the offseason. "I think a lot of us feel that way." Wilson batted just .249/.282/.316 last season and could find himself in a timeshare with Brendan Ryan at shortstop once top prospect Dustin Ackley is deemed ready for the big leagues.

Tue Aug 10 201008:25Mariners place Jack Wilson on disabled list
Mariners placed SS Jack Wilson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 8, with a fractured right hand.
Wilson is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday to repair the fifth metacarpal in his right hand, which was fractured when he slipped in the bathroom this weekend. He will almost certainly miss the rest of the 2010 season, and, assuming that's correct, will finish up with a .249/.282/.316 batting line, zero homers and 14 RBI over 193 at-bats.
