Tue Apr 4 202321:27Logan O'Hoppe Sitting On Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels backstop Logan O'Hoppe isn't starting Tuesday's matchup against the Seattle Mariners, according to MLB.com. It'll be his first day off of the season, and he's earned it, as he owns a .286 batting average with a home run and six RBI across four games. O'Hoppe is the Angels top prospect and has the potential to provide solid production all around. It will be Matt Thaiss doing the catching duties, his second game of the season. He hasn't done much offensively over 94 career games in the majors, posting a .669 OPS, and fantasy managers can keep him on the waiver wire in most formats.

Mon Mar 27 202318:35Logan O'Hoppe Makes Opening Day Roster
Los Angeles Angels catching prospect Logan O'Hoppe and infielder Jake Lamb have both made the team's Opening Day roster. O'Hoppe gets the nod with Max Stassi (hip) opening the year on the injured list. He'll share playing time with Matt Thaiss early on. The 23-year-old hit .281 (9-for-32) with two doubles, a homer, six RBI and four runs scored in 12 Cactus League games and will be more attractive than Thaiss in AL-only leagues as the club's No. 1 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. Jared Walsh's headache issues have opened up a spot for Lamb on the Opening Day roster. The 32-year-old left-handed slugger will hope to see some playing time at first base when Brandon Drury needs a day off.

Thu Mar 23 202319:17Logan O'Hoppe Could Make Angels Opening Day Roster
The Los Angeles Angels' top minor-league prospect, catcher Logan O'Hoppe, has built a solid case to make the team's Opening Day MLB roster. Through 41 spring at-bats, he owns a .779 OPS, building off a 26-home run and .960-OPS campaign with Double-A Reading and Double-A Rocket City last season. Matt Thaiss has performed similarly strong this preseason and is O'Hoppe's stiffest competition for the backup catcher role to Max Stassi. Thaiss is out of minor-league options and remains a slight favorite, but O'Hoppe possesses far superior offensive upside.

Wed Sep 28 202211:08Logan O'Hoppe Called Up To Make MLB Debut Wednesday
The Los Angeles Angels are calling up catching prospect Logan O'Hoppe on Wednesday, and he will make his major-league debut against the Oakland Athletics. In a corresponding move, outfielder Magneuris Sierra is being designated for assignment. O'Hoppe is the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies last month in the trade that sent Brandon Marsh to Philly. The 22-year-old backstop hit a combined .283/.416/.544 with a .961 OPS, 26 home runs, 78 RBI, 72 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 104 combined games with Double-A Reading and Double-A Rocket City in the minors this year. With the Angels already eliminated from the postseason, don't be surprised if O'Hoppe sees most of the playing time for the Angels down the stretch over both Matt Thaiss and Max Stassi.

Thu Jun 9 202211:05Logan O'Hoppe Continues Impressive Season In Double-A
Philadelphia Phillies catcher prospect Logan O'Hoppe continued his strong season with his third homer in four games for Double-A Reading on Wednesday. O'Hoppe continues to have a strong season behind the dish for Reading and has become one of the top catcher prospects in the game. Already known as a good defender, O'Hoppe has been having a strong season at the plate and is up to 12 home runs to go along with 33 RBI and a healthy .304 batting average. The Phillies have catcher J.T. Realmuto standing in his way, but O'Hoppe remains at least a year away from that being a topic of discussion. Dynasty managers should consider looking into the talented catcher.

Tue May 24 202209:24Logan O'Hoppe Mashing Homers In Minors
Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Logan O'Hoppe has made an impressive rise from 23rd-round pick in 2018 to No. 5 Phillies prospect on MLB Pipeline's latest list. The backstop, who initially signed an over-slot deal to lure him away from college, made noticeable strides during the 2020 season when COVID-19 allowed him to train at Philadelphia's alternate site. He has trimmed down his strikeout rate significantly, all while adding to his raw power. Defensively, O'Hoppe moves around to block baseballs with ease and uses his quick reaction time and strong arm to throw out runners. The backstop has been busy at the plate as of late, going 11-for-20 with five homers and eight RBI over his last six games. During this stretch and the season as a whole, he has exhibited a walk-to-strikeout rate that has steadily increased throughout his time in the Phillies' system. Now, all eyes are on his rise to the majors. Once he reaches the show, expect his bat to give him strong fantasy upside at such a volatile catcher position.

Thu May 19 202208:57Logan O'Hoppe Displaying Power In Double-A
Philadelphia Phillies catcher prospect Logan O'Hoppe homered in his second consecutive game for Double-A Reading on Wednesday. O'Hoppe would finish the game 2-for-4 and has now rounded the bases three times over his last two games. For the season, he is now hitting .272 with six home runs and 19 RBI. Due to a strong work ethic, O'Hoppe has worked on his plate discipline and has seen an increase in walks and decrease in strikeouts over the past year. This has also allowed the 22-year-old to tap into his raw power. To go along with a strong offensive game, he has also earned strong reviews defensively. The backstop got a cup of coffee in Triple-A last season, but struggled in 21 at-bats. With J.T. Realmuto going nowhere at the big-league level, O'Hoppe will continue to gain experience on the farm, but he would make an intriguing trade chip for the Phillies. O'Hoppe is a name dynasty managers should start keeping tabs on with his potential to hit 20 home runs at a position that doesn't provide much depth.
