Thu Aug 26 202122:10Gavin Lux Optioned To Triple-A
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Gavin Lux and infielder/outfielder Matt Beaty were to optioned Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday. Mookie Betts was activated from the 10-day injured list, and pitcher Darien Nunez was recalled in corresponding moves. Lux sat the bench for five straight games and made a pinch-hitting appearance in the previous contest. The 23-year-old hasn't produced at the plate this season. He slashed .221/.302/.340 with six home runs, 37 RBI, 39 runs scored, and three stolen bases over 85 games before being optioned. Lux didn't have a clear path for regular at-bats. Chris Taylor, Trea Turner, and Corey Seager were locked in at second, shortstop, and third base. Fantasy managers in dynasty leagues should continue to stash Lux, but it's time to move on in redraft formats.

Tue Aug 17 202120:55Gavin Lux Starting At Third Base On Tuesday Night
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Gavin Lux is making his first career start at third base on Tuesday night against the Pirates, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. Lux was activated from the injured list earlier in the day on Tuesday after being sidelined for nearly a month with a hamstring strain, and while he was out the Dodgers activated Corey Seager from the IL and acquired Trea Turner, which filled out their lineup in the middle infield. So now in order to get Lux back into the lineup, it appears the Dodgers are planning to try him out at other positions, beginning with third base. While having some positional flexibility will be a boost to his value in fantasy, he hasn't put up much at the plate this year, as he's slashing .227/.307/.349 with six homers, three steals, 37 RBI and 39 runs scored over 82 games.

Tue Aug 17 202118:38Dodgers Activate Gavin Lux, Option Andre Jackson
Los Angeles Dodgers middle infielder Gavin Lux (hamstring) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Lux has been sidelined since July 19 with a left hamstring strain. With Lux sidelined, shortstop Corey Seager returned from the injured list and the club acquired middle infielder Trea Turner to play second base. Lux was struggling on the year with a .227 batting average to go along with six home runs and 37 RBI and his role moving forward will be that of a bench player. Between his struggles earlier in the year and his lack of opportunities moving forward, Lux can remain on the waiver wire. In a flurry of moves, the Dodgers also recalled relief pitcher Evan Phillips and optioned pitchers Andre Jackson and Conner Green.

Sun Aug 8 202114:41Gavin Lux Set To Begin Rehab Assignment
Los Angeles Dodgers middle infielder Gavin Lux (hamstring) will begin his rehab assignment for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Lux has been sidelined since July 19 with a left hamstring strain. Lux entered the season as the Dodgers second baseman and one of the more hyped prospects, but he hasn't delivered on the stat sheet. Prior to his injury, Lux was hitting .227 with six home runs and 37 RBI. With the acquisition of infielder Trea Turner, Lux no longer has a regular spot in the lineup and is likely to be relegated to a utility role. He can be avoided in all formats for now.

Wed Jul 7 202100:18Reed debut for Dodgers as wife preps for Olympics
MIAMI (AP) — Right-hander Jake Reed was called up by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday and made his major league debut as his wife Janie Reed prepares to play outfield for the U.S. softball team at the Olympics. The Dodgers selected the contract of the 28-year-old pitcher from Triple-A Oklahoma City before Tuesday’s 2-1, 10-inning loss to the Miami Marlins and designated outfielder Steven Souza Jr. for assignment. Reed entered in the sixth inning with a 1-0 lead, and the Marlins tied the score when shortstop Gavin Lux committed an error on Jesús Aguilar's two-out grounder. The side-arming reliever allowed two hits, struck out one and walked one. He was 0-0 with a 2.61 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings over nine games with Oklahoma City. He signed with the Dodgers on June 4, two days after he was released by the Los Angeles Angels. He has a 5.57 ERA and one save in 21 innings over 17 games this season. “He's a guy that gets righties out," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “Really... [More]

Wed Jun 30 202115:51Up Goes Frazier; Pirates 2B mounting All-Star campaign
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Adam Frazier thinks he might be a better baseball player if he could find a way to put his phone down. Funny, the screen time doesn't seem to be affecting the Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman too much. He entered play Wednesday ranked in the top 10 in the majors in hits (98), batting average (.326), on-base percentage (.399) while mounting an insurgent All-Star campaign. The soft-spoken 29-year-old with the drawl that belies his Georgia roots is one of three finalists for the National League's starting job, impressive considering Frazier plays in a smaller market for a team that's in the midst of a “from the ground up” rebuild while the other finalists — Atlanta's Ozzie Albies and Los Angeles' Gavin Lux — are on teams with a pedigree and star power. Not that Frazier is keeping tabs on the fan vote total. He hasn't even cast a ballot for himself. At the moment, he's more consumed with Mississippi State's play in the College World Series. Frazier starred for the Bulldogs... [More]
Fri Jun 25 202101:19Cubs have combined no-hitter through 8 innings vs Dodgers
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Chicago Cubs are working on a combined no-hitter through eight innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night. The Cubs led 4-0 in their quest for the majors’ seventh no-hitter of the year — which would match four other seasons for the most in the majors since 1900. The Dodgers drew seven walks, but had no other baserunners heading to the ninth. Right-hander Zach Davies started with six resilient innings, and reliever Ryan Tepera issued one walk in the seventh. Andrew Chafin yielded another walk in the eighth. Davies issued five walks and used 94 pitches to get through the first six innings, but still managed to keep the defending World Series champions without a hit in the 16th start of his first season with the Cubs. Tepera, the busiest reliever in Chicago's solid bullpen, walked Gavin Lux with two outs in the seventh. Austin Barnes lined out to second to end another hitless inning. Chafin walked Mookie Betts with one out, but Max Muncy hit a grounder... [More]

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Chicago Cubs are working on a combined no-hitter through seven innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night. Right-hander Zach Davies started with six resilient innings, and reliever Ryan Tepera kept it up in the seventh. The Dodgers drew six walks, but had no other baserunners. The Cubs led 4-0 in their quest for the majors' seventh no-hitter of the season. Davies bounced back sharply after yielding a career-high eight runs in his last start against Miami. Those eight runs matched the number he had allowed in his previous six starts combined, and he regained his excellent form... [More]
Wed Jun 16 202102:47Dodgers' Bellinger returns to IL with left hamstring strain
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger is returning to the injured list with a left hamstring strain. Los Angeles recalled right-hander Mitch White before Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies to take the roster spot of Bellinger, who left Friday’s game against Texas in the fifth inning. “We just felt that as we got together with the training staff and Cody to take it out of everyone’s hands, rip the band aid off and get him back to health,” manager Dave Roberts said of the decision after Los Angeles' 5-3 victory over Philadelphia Tuesday night. “We are going to need him the rest of the way and we need him healthy.” The hamstring injury is the latest physical ailment for the 2019 NL MVP. Bellinger missed 46 games earlier this season with a hairline fracture to his left leg. He had shoulder surgery in the offseason. Bellinger was 10 for 33 with eight RBIs this month. He hit a grand slam — his only homer this season — and set a franchise record with six RBIs... [More]

Sat Jun 12 202121:46Max Muncy on Dodgers' injured list with right oblique strain
LOS ANGELES (AP) — First baseman Max Muncy is going on the Los Angeles Dodgers' injured list with a right oblique muscle strain. The Dodgers recalled outfielder Luke Raley on Saturday night to take the roster spot of Muncy, who left Friday's game in the second inning with the defending World Series champions' latest significant injury woe. Muncy hit his 14th homer of the season in the first inning of the series opener against the Texas Rangers, but was replaced by Albert Pujols shortly afterward. Muncy is batting .264 with 33 RBIs in 60 games this season for Los Angeles. Before his oblique injury, he had been struggling with an injured right ankle since getting hurt June 4 in Atlanta. Outfielder Cody Bellinger also left Friday's game with left hamstring tightness, and he wasn't in the Dodgers' starting lineup Saturday. Manager Dave Roberts is cautiously confident Bellinger's injury isn't serious. The Dodgers' latest round of injury problems has left the champs shuffling their roster. Earlier... [More]

NEW YORK (AP) — Jacob deGrom was pulled from a do-it-all gem with right flexor tendinitis, a troubling diagnosis for the New York Mets that clouded a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday night. DeGrom (6-2) faced the minimum over six innings and ripped a two-run single, giving him five RBIs this season — compared to four earned runs allowed. He struck out 10 in the abbreviated outing. DeGrom left after 80 pitches and extending his scoreless streak to 22 innings. He had a no-hit bid until Wil Myers beat the shift with a weak grounder in the fifth. Billy McKinney drove in a run with the first of his two doubles in the fifth, and deGrom followed with his two-run hit. San Diego dropped its third straight. Blake Snell (2-3) allowed three runs in four-plus innings, and the Padres couldn’t do enough damage against New York’s bullpen. NEW YORK (AP) — Rich Hill finished May with the lowest monthly ERA in 75 years of a pitcher in his 40s, and the Tampa Bay Rays won for the 16th time in 17 games by keeping up their domination of the reeling Yankees with a 3-1 victory Monday. Miguel Andújar homered in the seventh, just his second since 2018. J.P. Feyereisen, acquired May 21 from Milwaukee for shortstop Willy Adames, finished a five-hitter for his third save.
