Tue Jan 31 201211:47D'Backs avoid arb. with Roberts for $2.0125M
The D'Backs and INF Ryan Roberts avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.0125 million contract.
Roberts requested $2.275 million and was offered $1.65 million from the Diamondbacks when arbitration figures were exchanged earlier this month. It took a couple of weeks for the two sides to work toward a middle ground. The 31-year-old third baseman is under team control through the 2015 season.

Wed Jan 18 201200:15Roberts requests $2.275M from D-Backs
Ryan Roberts requested $2.275 million and was offered $1.65 million from the Diamondbacks when arbitration figures were exchanged Tuesday.
Roberts, who is arbitration-eligible for the first time, is in line for a nice raise after hitting .249/.341/.427 with 19 homers, 65 RBI, 18 stolen bases and a .768 OPS with the Diamondbacks last season. Assuming they eventually settle around the midpoint, he's likely looking at a salary around $2 million for 2012.

Thu Oct 6 201106:29Roberts' grand slam paces Arizona to victory
Ryan Roberts launched a first inning grand slam on Wednesday, helping to lead Arizona to a 10-6 Game 4 NLDS win.
It was Roberts' second grand slam in his last six games. He finished 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts, and now has an impressive six hits and six RBI in the series' first four games.

Wed Sep 28 201101:48Roberts smacks a walk-off grand slam in 10th
Ryan Roberts hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning Tuesday against Dodgers closer Javy Guerra to complete a wild 7-6 victory.
This was one of the strangest comebacks of the season. Both clubs managed only one run through nine innings, but the Dodgers quickly tacked five on reliever Micah Owings in the top of the 10th. Blake Hawksworth retired the first two batters in the bottom half of the frame before Arizona's offense exploded and Los Angeles simultaneously imploded. Hawksworth gave up a pair of singles and a walk to load the bases. An Aaron Miles error that should have ended the game plated Arizona's first run of the inning. Javy Guerra entered with the bases loaded and a four-run lead. He walked Aaron Hill to cut the deficit to three before serving up Roberts' homer. Owings improved to 8-0 -- you're reading that correctly -- despite allowing five runs (four earned) in an inning while Guerra blew just his second save opportunity of the season.

Fri Sep 9 201106:26Roberts swipes two more bags in win
Ryan Roberts was 0-for-1 with two steals in Arizona's 4-1 win over San Diego on Thursday.
The swipes give him 18 on the season, which is fairly impressive considering he had only seven steals in 398 major league at-bats entering this season. When adding in his 18 homers, Roberts has been an unexpected boon to Arizona's lineup.

Tue Aug 30 201100:38Ryan Roberts hits one out
Ryan Roberts launched his 17th home run in Monday's win over the Rockies.
Roberts got the D'Backs off on the right foot with a blast to left field to lead off the bottom of the first. The 29-year-old journeyman has managed to remain relatively productive for the bulk of the season, batting a solid .259/.353/.441 to go along with 17 longballs and 16 steals.

Sat Aug 13 201122:58Roberts' three-run shot paces D'Backs in win
Ryan Roberts hit a three-run shot Saturday in the Diamondbacks' 6-4 victory over the Mets.
The Giants also won, so Arizona merely maintained its two-game lead in the National League West standings. Roberts scored two runs and bumped his home run total to 16. He hadn't gone deep yet in the month of August.

Tue Jul 19 201100:27Roberts provides the offense as D-Backs roll
Ryan Roberts hit a two-run homer on Monday evening, helping the Diamondbacks to a 3-0 win over the Brewers in a game that took just two hours and 14 minutes to complete in Arizona.
Roberts' two-run shot off of Randy Wolf in the sixth inning would be more than enough offense for the Diamondbacks on a night where Josh Collmenter was absolutely dealing. He's now homered in back-to-back games, and three of his past five, bringing his season total to 13 through 84 games.

Sun Jul 10 201116:55Ryan Roberts homers in loss
Ryan Roberts' two-run, second-inning homer provided the Diamondbacks with their only runs in a 4-2 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.
Roberts' 11th home run of the season was his first in 25 games. Slowly but surely, Roberts' early season luster is fading, though he is batting .318 through his first 22 at-bats of July ater hitting just .218 in June.

Sat Jun 4 201108:43Gibson won't confirm Ryan Roberts as 3B
Although he's started eight of the last 10 games at third base, Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson wouldn't call Ryan Roberts his regular third baseman.
"He's starting a lot recently," Gibson said. "I'm not going to say he is (the full-time starter), because tomorrow I might change my mind. But he has played well... I've had him leading off, he's been getting on base, drawing walks, hitting the ball well." Roberts is batting .277/.380/.478 with eight homers in 159 at-bats this season, while former regular third baseman Melvin Mora has produced a .257/.271/.307 line with no homers over 101 at-bats.

Wed Jun 1 201123:32Ryan Roberts homers as D-Backs edge Fish
Ryan Roberts hit his eighth home run in Arizona's 6-5 win over the Marlins on Wednesday.
He tagged Javier Vazquez for a two-run shot in the sixth. Roberts' only hit of the night was his first home run in 15 games, but he remained productive between long balls, posting a .255 average to go along with a .350 OBP, five RBI and three stolen bases.

Sun May 29 201117:37Roberts helps D-Backs down 'Stros
Ryan Roberts went 1-for-3 with a walk, run scored and stolen base in Arizona's win over the Astros on Sunday.
Another solid all-around game from Roberts, who is still hitting a very healthy .280 through his first 143 at-bats. Coming into 2011, Roberts had been a mostly productive player, but had simply never gotten enough at-bats to prove himself. He may not keep hitting .280, but there's not a whole lot of reason to believe he'll fall off the map this summer.

Sun May 15 201120:13Roberts comes back from flu, hits homer
Ryan Roberts returned from an illness and hit his seventh homer of the season in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.
Roberts was out of the lineup the last two days but is obviously fine. He now has seven homers in 95 at-bats on the season and is earning more and more playing time by the day. With solid speed and good power, Roberts can help deeper mixed leaguers.

Sat May 14 201119:14Roberts has been out due to illness
Ryan Roberts has been out of the lineup the last two days due to an illness.
Roberts was able to take batting practice Saturday and may be available to pinch-hit tonight. He's a good bet to get back in the lineup on Sunday against lefty Ted Lilly.

Sun May 1 201120:06Roberts goes off against Cubs
Ryan Roberts went 2-for-3 with a home run in Sunday's win over the Cubs.
Roberts continues to rake just about every time he's in the lineup. It's not like Melvin Mora was threatening him anyway, but it certainly doesn't hurt that Mora is dealing with swelling in his foot. Ride Roberts' hot streak right now.

Fri Apr 29 201119:04Roberts out of lineup again Friday
Ryan Roberts is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day Friday.
He's not hurt or anything, but Melvin Mora is starting at third base for a second straight day. It could be time to look for alternatives if you recently added Roberts to your roster.

Wed Apr 27 201100:48D'Backs' Roberts hits fifth homer
Ryan Roberts went 2-for-4 and hit his fifth homer Tuesday versus the Phillies.
Roberts, who had 10 homers and 35 RBI in 398 career at-bats entering 2011, has five homers and 15 RBI in 57 at-bats this season. The Diamondbacks signed Melvin Mora and Geoff Blum to share time at third base, but it seems the best option was already on the roster. Of course, Roberts isn't this good, but there's no reason to think Mora should win back the job anytime soon.

Tue Apr 19 201122:22Ryan Roberts homers twice in win over Reds
Ryan Roberts hit two homers, scored two runs and knocked in three runs in Tuesday's win against the Reds.
In 39 plate appearances this year, Roberts is hitting .382 with a 1.226 OPS. He's now blasted four homers and collected 10 RBI. Perhaps the D'Backs will continue to ride the hot hand and Roberts will get more at-bats. He needs to be owned in all NL-only leagues, if he isn't already.

Tue Apr 5 201117:42D'Backs' Roberts homers versus Cubs
Ryan Roberts hit a solo homer and scored three of the Diamondbacks' five runs in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.
The Diamondbacks were supposed to go with Melvin Mora and Geoff Blum at third base, but they might as well stick with the hot hand and that could involve letting Roberts and Willie Bloomquist battle for at-bats after Stephen Drew returns. No one in the group has much in the way of fantasy upside, but Roberts, with 11 homers and eight steals in 408 major league at-bats, does have a bit more than Blum or Bloomquist.

Wed Mar 30 201110:28Roberts earns spot on D-Backs' roster
Ryan Roberts has earned a spot on the Diamondbacks' Opening Day roster.
Not a huge surprise given the injury to Geoff Blum. Roberts has impressed with his play this spring, batting .509 with six doubles, a triple and 11 RBI over 53 at-bats during Cactus League play. He'll serve as a reserve outfielder and backup middle infielder.
