Sat Nov 9 201312:22Gustavo Ayon to make Hawks debut on Saturday
Gustavo Ayon will be active on Saturday versus Orlando.
Ayon (shoulder) has been sidelined since October 7th with shoulder inflammation and a strained rotator cuff. He will likely take a few minutes away from Al Horford and Paul Millsap. On Saturday, the Hawks will square off against the Magic, Ayon's team last year.

Tue Oct 8 201316:43Gustavo Ayon (shoulder) ruled out 4-8 weeks
Gustavo Ayon will miss 4-8 weeks after an MRI revealed shoulder inflammation and a strained rotator cuff.
Ayon hurt himself during Monday's exhibition. It's a tough break for the Hawks frontcourt, though fortunately they should have enough depth to compensate for his absence until mid-November or December. Starters Al Horford and Paul Millsap may each play a few extra minutes, as will backups Zaza Pachulia, Pero Antic and Mike Scott.

Tue Oct 8 201312:19Gustavo Ayon (shoulder) returns to Atlanta
Hawks big man Gustavo Ayon (right shoulder) has returned to Atlanta for further examinations.
He hurt himself in Monday's game and we'll consider him day-to-day until a medical update is provided. Mike Scott, who has impressed coaches and teammates all summer, stepped up in Ayon's absence on Monday with 13 points and six boards in 21 minutes.

Mon Oct 7 201320:43Gustavo Ayon leaves game with shoulder issue
Gustavo Ayon exited Monday's game with a right shoulder injury.
He is being evaluated by team doctors and an update should be available soon. Ayon only has a minor shoulder issue from April 2012, so this is not a recurring issue. He had a nice summer and was named MVP of the FIBA Americas tournament. He'll provide some depth and doesn't have fantasy value in most leagues.

Wed Sep 11 201322:21Gustavo Ayon plays well again in FIBA finals
Gustavo Ayon led Mexico to the FIBA Americas championship, finishing with 20 points, 16 rebounds and two blocks on 7-of-18 shooting.
Ayon was named MVP of the tournament and showed some of his fantasy potential as the starting center for Mexico. Unfortunately, he is joining a crowded frontcourt with the Hawks and will struggle to find fantasy value in that role.

Sat Sep 7 201318:44Gustavo Ayon scores 18 points in FIBA win
Gustavo Ayon led Mexico to a FIBA win on Saturday, finishing with 18 points, four boards and two steals on 9-of-12 shooting.
He's had a great tournament, averaging 18 points and eight boards on 64 percent shooting in seven games. The Bucks waived him in July and the Hawks picked him up off waivers to add some depth. Ayon has cooled off since his rookie season with the Hornets in 2011-12 and has very little fantasy appeal with Atlanta.

Sun Jul 28 201320:45Hawks claim PF/C Gustavo Ayon off waivers
Hawks claim PF/C Gustavo Ayon off waivers.
Ayon has a $1.5 million salary this season, a reasonable price for a competent backup big man. His per-minute rebounds, steals and blocks suggest nice fantasy upside, but he's unlikely to have value fighting for backup minutes behind Paul Millsap, Al Horford and Elton Brand.

Sun Jul 28 201318:56Gustavo Ayon will sign with the Hawks
Gustavo Ayon will sign with the Hawks.
He said "Go Hawks" on his Facebook page and the Hawks continue to go to the five-and-dime shop on their big men. They picked up Elton Brand to play behind Al Horford and Ayon may get some minutes at the four and five, too. It's a good landing spot for him, but he's still not someone that should make too big of an impact in his first year with his new team.

Thu Jul 25 201319:22Bucks waive Gustavo Ayon on Thursday
Bucks waive F/C Gustavo Ayon.
He had a team option of $1.5 million for next season. The addition of Zaza Pachulia spelled trouble for Ayon and this becomes yet another negative for them in their trade for J.J. Redick. Redick is currently on the Clippers while Tobias Harris had an extremely strong second half, also Doron Lamb wasn't too shabby in summer league. Ayon will likely catch on with another team. John Henson may also get a few more minutes with this news.

Sun Jul 14 201309:52Bucks have until July 25 to guarantee Ayon
The Bucks must decide by July 25 whether to fully guarantee Gustavo Ayon's $1.5 million salary or let him become an unrestricted free agent.
There have been conflicting reports about whether Milwaukee picked up his team option for 2013-14. They did, but Mark Deeks of ShamSports.com explains that the option "essentially does little more than buy [Ayon] 25 extra days and give the team the ability to decline it while retaining his Bird rights ... without the option, Ayon would need to be waived to save on the contract." He's currently dominating lesser competition for the Bucks' Summer League team, finishing Saturday's game 4-of-4 from the field in 20 minutes of action.

Tue Jun 25 201314:23Report: Ayon's contract not picked up yet
Updating a previous item, the Bucks have not yet picked up Gustavo Ayon's $1.5 million option for 2013-14.
The original report from Televisa Deportes appears to have jumped the gun. The Bucks have until Saturday to make a decision.

Sun Jun 23 201322:18Bucks retain Gustavo Ayon for $1.5 million
The Bucks have exercised their $1.5 million option to retain Gustavo Ayon for the 2013-14 season.
The 28-year-old big man averaged 4.3 points and 4.9 rebounds with the Bucks and he publicly lamented his limited role off the bench. He's an affordable big man who can rebound, set screens and has shot 54.2 percent from the field in his NBA career, so it's unsurprising that Milwaukee decided to keep him.

Fri Jun 21 201309:12June 29 drop dead date on Ayon's contract
The Bucks have to make a decision on Gustavo Ayon's $1.5 million option by June 29.
Ayon rarely saw the floor after being traded to Milwaukee, but he's capable of being a serviceable backup big man and at $1.5 million, it's a reasonable price. However, it's still possible the team moves in a different direction, and if they do, Ayon may return to international basketball if he doesn't get an offer he likes in the NBA.

Tue Apr 30 201307:45Ayon expects to be back with Bucks next year
Gustavo Ayon expects to have his contract option picked up for next season and return to the Bucks.
There was some speculation that Ayon could return to playing on the international stage, but apparently that's not set it stone. "Gustavo likes Milwaukee, he just relaly wants to help the team and as far as we've been indicated he will be with the Bucks next season," Ayon's agent said. Ayon's option is worth just $1.5 million

Wed Apr 3 201319:13Gustavo Ayon (knee) inactive on Wednesday
Gustavo Ayon (knee) was on the Bucks' inactive list for Wednesday's game.
Ayon hasn't been happy with his role in Milwaukee and he's not a significant rotation player anyway, so his absence shouldn't impact fantasy owners.

Tue Apr 2 201313:56Gustavo Ayon doesn't practice on Tuesday
Gustavo Ayon (knee) didn't practice on Tuesday.
Ayon is a non-factor with the Bucks and it wouldn't be surprising to see him return to playing overseas next year.

Sun Mar 24 201310:05Gustavo Ayon could return to Europe in 2014
Gustavo Ayon said recently that he "would return to Europe" if his role with the Bucks doesn't increase next season.
"Without stability and regular playing time I find it hard to motivate myself," said Ayon. "I want to be playing, not sitting on the bench." The Bucks are awash with PF/Cs, which makes it hard for Jim Boylan to find minutes for Ayon, and his limited English makes for a slower transition to a new team.

Sun Mar 10 201323:45Gustavo Ayon scores 12 pts off Bucks' bench
Gustavo Ayon racked up 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in 14 minutes off the bench vs. Sacramento, capitalizing on injuries to Larry Sanders (knee) and Ersan Ilyasova (knee).
The Bucks threw everything they had at the Kings tonight, giving meaningful minutes to Ayon, Samuel Dalembert, Ekpe Udoh, John Henson and Drew Gooden (sadly, Joel Przybilla didn't make a cameo).

Sun Feb 24 201301:06Gustavo Ayon picks up DNP-CD on Saturday
Gustavo Ayon was on the active list but he never left the Bucks bench on Saturday.
Ayon is the sort of effective but under-the-radar player that the small-market Bucks need. He's owed just $3.4 million over the next two seasons, a relative bargain for a competent NBA big man, so it's reasonable to assume they'll keep him around. Unfortunately, the Bucks' PF/C rotation is too crowded to expect fantasy value in average leagues this season.
