Sat Mar 23 201313:22Ivan Johnson absent from practice Saturday
Ivan Johnson did not practice Saturday due to back spasms.
This is the first mention of back issues for Johnson this year, but it doesn't sound too serious. The Hawks travel to Milwaukee to play the Bucks on Sunday afternoon, so it's possible a flight might not be the best thing for Johnson's back. We'll sideline him for now and call Johnson day-to-day. We should know more later Saturday afternoon.

Thu Mar 14 201300:14Ivan Johnson scores 12 points vs. LAL
Ivan Johnson scored 12 points with eight boards and one assist in 29 minutes against the Lakers on Wednesday.
He was called upon to help fill the void left by Josh Smith and Zaza Pachuila and he didn't disappoint. Johnson and the Hawks will take on Phoenix on Friday -- a night with 10 NBA games -- then travel to Brooklyn on Sunday, so Johnson is only worth a short-term look in deep leagues.

Sat Mar 9 201321:47Ivan Johnson plays 19 minutes in return
Ivan Johnson (finger) returned from a one-game absence with nine points, seven rebounds, one steal and one block in 19 minutes vs. the Nets
Atlanta was happy to have their bruising PF battle Reggie Evans in the paint, especially with Zaza Pachulia (Achilles) still out of the lineup. Johnson hadn't played 19+ minutes in a game in over a month.

Sat Mar 9 201317:47Ivan Johnson will return to the lineup
Ivan Johnson (finger) is available to play against the Nets on Saturday.
He dislocated his finger and didn't play Friday. Johnson might get some minutes with Zaza Pachulia out, but he's unlikely to see over 20 minutes in a best-case scenario. He has no fantasy value.

Fri Mar 8 201311:40Ivan Johnson (finger) will not play on Friday
Ivan Johnson will not play against the Celtics on Friday due to a dislocated finger.
Johnson's irrelevant in fantasy formats and this just means even more action for Josh Smith an Al Horford.

Ivan Johnson (knee) played four minutes on Monday against the Mavs.
Johnson is a bad man, but he has no real fantasy value.

Mon Feb 11 201311:01Ivan Johnson misses part of Sunday practice
Ivan Johnson missed part of Sunday's practice while icing his right knee.
Johnson said he's just got tendinitis in the knee, so we're not concerned about his availability for the Hawks next game on Wednesday.

Wed Jan 23 201321:45Ivan Johnson blows up w/ 12 & 15 in start
Starting at center for the short-handed Hawks, Ivan Johnson had 12 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.
This was the first time all year Johnson has grabbed double-digit boards and the fifth time he scored double-digit points, but tonight he had a perfect storm with Al Horford injured and a matchup with the woeful Bobcats. With more personal fouls (54) than combined assists (16), steals (24) and blocks (five) this season, we wouldn't bother with him unless Horford goes down for an extended period.

Ivan Johnson will start for the Hawks on Wednesday.
The Hawks will start Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, DeShawn Stevenson and Josh Smith with Johnson. Devin Harris will continue to come off the bench, while rookie John Jenkins will also move back to the bench as well.

Sat Dec 29 201222:25Ivan Johnson (illness) returns in hack mode
Ivan Johnson (illness) returned to action vs. the Pacers on Saturday, finishing with six points, six rebounds, one steal and three blocks before fouling out in just 15 minutes.
Johnson received an ovation for his efforts when he left in the fourth quarter, and his return was fortuitous considering Josh Smith was out with a sore hip. With Smoove day-to-day there's no reason for fantasy owners to pick up the man with the diamond grill.

Sat Dec 29 201217:13Ivan Johnson (illness) probable for Saturday
Ivan Johnson (illness) is probable to play vs. the Pacers on Saturday.
Johnson's illness kept him out of Friday's game and he's apparently feeling better. He only played in 11.8 minutes per game in his four games prior to the illness, so there's no reason to pay much attention to him in most leagues.

Fri Dec 28 201218:11Ivan Johnson won't play Friday night vs. Cavs
Ivan Johnson (illness) will not play Friday night against the Cavs.
Johnson was doubtful to begin with and hasn't played more than 20 minutes in a game since mid-December. The fantasy impact of his absence is less rest for Hawks regulars Josh Smith, Al Horford and Zaza Pachulia.

Fri Dec 28 201211:42Ivan Johnson doubtful on Friday w/ illness
Ivan Johnson (illness) is doubtful to play on Friday.
Johnson hasn't played more than 20 minutes in any game since mid-December. His absence should mean more minutes for guys like Zaza Pachulia, Josh Smith and Al Horford.

Tue Dec 18 201220:13Ivan Johnson gets four stitches, will return
Ivan Johnson received four stitches to his injured hand from Tuesday's game and he will return.
The stitches are between his fourth and fifth finger on his right hand and this news shouldn't impact his already insignificant value.

Sat Dec 15 201221:45Ivan Johnson scores 15 pts in 27 minutes
Ivan Johnson scored 15 points on 7-of-10 FGs while grabbing nine rebounds in a blowout loss to the visiting Warriors.
The man with the diamond grill played 27 minutes, and while we're skeptical on account of the fluky nature of this game, it must be noted that he was coming off a game with 16 points and eight boards in 28 minutes. With one blocked shot on the season (in over 200 minutes of action), fantasy owners should view him skeptically unless he keeps this up for a few more games.

Fri Dec 14 201206:59Ivan Johnson blows up for 16 & 8 in win
Ivan johnson, who had not played for the Hawks in three of their five games in December, got 28 minutes against the Bobcats and finished with a season-high 18 points, tied a season high with eight rebounds and added two steals in the win.
Johnson has no fantasy value, but has shown flashes at times throughout his short career. If one of the Hawks primary big men were to suffer an injury, Johnson could be worth a deep-league flier at some point.

Thu Dec 13 201208:58Ivan Johnson in Larry Drew's dog house?
Ivan Johnson has not played in two straight games, and Larry Drew said that Johnson "will certainly be rested" when the Hawks play the Bobcats.
It sounds like Johnson is in Drew's dog house, but it's not clear what caused Johnson to ride the pine. He's averaging just 12 minutes per game this season, so it's not as if this news shakes up fantasy leagues.

Sun Dec 9 201202:22Ivan Johnson returns to Hawks' rotation
Ivan Johnson returned to the Hawks' lineup on Saturday, scoring six points with zero rebounds in 11 minutes.
Larry Drew has been juggling his rotations over the past few weeks, tailoring his gameplan to his available players and opponents, and you can't argue with the results -- eight wins in the past 10 games. Johnson did nothing to stand out vs. Memphis and his role isn't likely to increase.

Thu Nov 15 201202:09Ivan Johnson goes for 15 points in loss
Ivan Johnson saw extra playing time with Al Horford out with the flu and hit 7-of-8 shots for 15 points and four rebounds Wednesday.
He came into this one averaging less than nine minutes and four points per game, but saw extra run with Horford out. Pick him up if you're in a 30-team league, but otherwise he should probably be left on waivers, especially since Horford is due back soon.
