Tue May 4 201017:53Yankees call up Greg Golson
Yankees recalled OF Greg Golson from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Golson, 24, was batting just .253/.289/.430 over 84 plate appearances at Triple-A, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi suggests that the right-handed hitter may see some at-bats against left-handed pitching. A former first-round pick of the Phillies in 2004, Golson has a .263/.307/.396 batting line over parts of seven seasons in the minor leagues.
Tue May 4 201012:39Yanks to promote Greg Golson from Triple-A?
Yankees outfield prospect Greg Golson is not in the lineup at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Tuesday and may be headed to the big leagues.
Golson, 24, is batting a lame .253/.289/.430 in 84 plate appearances this year but the Yankees are in need of outfield depth with Curtis Granderson on the disabled list. His presence will cut into Randy Winn's playing time, meaning neither will carry much value in mixed or shallow AL-only leagues.
