Tue Nov 15 201115:07Paul's name used in Australian baseball hoax
Xavier Paul's name was involved in a fraud attempt down in the Australian Baseball League.
According to MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch, former minor league outfielder Breland Brown posed as an agent and told ABL officials that Paul would play in the Australian league this offseason if Brown himself was also invited. When Paul didn't show, authorities were alerted and Brown's attempt at landing a contract were thwarted. It's an odd news item, but Paul should ultimately espace the fiasco unscathed.

Both Garrett Jones and Matt Diaz are struggling at the plate, while Paul is off to a 7-for-10 start this month. Paul is just a career .254 hitter, however, and has only one lifetime home run, making him a tough sell in NL-only leagues.

Paul was designated for assignment by the Dodgers last Monday. He has posted some strong numbers in the minors and the Bucs will hope that his talent shines with a change of scenery. The 26-year-old outfielder has 160 big league plate appearances to his name.

He was cleared to make space for Jerry Sands on the 40-man roster. Paul, 26, has put up some impressive numbers in the Pacific Coast League, but has a measly .233/.280/.329 batting line over 160 major league appearances. There's a chance someone could have interest.

Tue Aug 24 201011:47Dodgers' OF Paul (neck) placed on DL
Dodgers placed OF Xavier Paul on the minor league disabled list with with cervical spine inflammation in his neck.
Ouch. Hopefully these are just fancy words for 'stiff neck,' especially with Manny Ramirez rumored to be placed on waivers at any time. Paul is already 25 and has repeated Triple-A three times, so the longer he stays in the minor leagues, the more his star dims. He has some speed, but the power is suspect and hasn't translated to the major leagues. He may only be a fourth outfielder in the end.
Wed Aug 4 201019:26Dodgers option Xavier Paul to Triple-A
Dodgers optioned OF Xavier Paul to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Paul was called up in early July to provide depth in the Dodgers' outfield while Manny Ramirez nursed a calf injury. But outfielder Scott Podsednik was acquired from the Royals at the trade deadline and Paul will head back to Triple-A. He's hit .231/.277/.314 in 121 at-bats this year.

Xavier Paul went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored Tuesday against the Giants.
The Dodgers went with Jamey Carroll on Monday, but Paul is their best option in left field with Manny Ramirez is out. We'll see if Joe Torre learns to trust him. He doesn't appear to, at least not against southpaws.
Sun Jul 4 201001:53Dodgers' Paul knocks in two runs
Xavier Paul went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk Saturday in his first game since being recalled.
Paul is the Dodgers' fourth-best outfielder when everyone is healthy, and he deserves to play regularly while Manny Ramirez is out. Maybe he'll get that opportunity this time.

Paul has hit .281 with a .732 OPS and six extra-base hits in 57 at-bats this season for the Dodgers and will see a nice helping of playing time over the next few weeks as Manny Ramirez recovers from a hamstring strain. He is probably worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues.

As expected. With a .281/.328/.404 batting line in 57 at-bats this season, Paul has impressed while filling in for Manny Ramirez and Andre Ethier. He could be given a legitimate chance at regular playing time next season if Manny leaves via free agency.

Fri Apr 30 201018:40Dodgers' Paul batting leadoff on Friday
Xavier Paul is batting leadoff against the Pirates on Friday.
Interesting. Dodgers manager Joe Torre had used Russell Martin out of the No. 1 spot over the last two games as Rafael Furcal, but he's relying on the rookie tonight. Paul has amassed a .359 on-base percentage in the minor leagues and possesses good speed, but he's still prone to the strikeout.

Fri Apr 23 201015:49Dodgers call up OF Paul
Dodgers recalled outfielder Xavier Paul from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Paul was off to a .361/.409/.574 start for the Isotopes. He offers more offensive upside and a far better glove than Garret Anderson, so it'd be nice to see him get a chance to start against right-handers while Manny Ramirez is out.
