Jim Duquette of MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM Radio reports that the Mets and Jon Rauch have agreed to a contract, pending a physical.
Many outlets have reported that the Mets were closing in on the right-handed reliever, and it appears that it will be a one-year deal. The Mets are expected to target another reliever, which might affect whether or not Rauch would be used as the closer for his new club.

The Blue Jays offered arbitration to Jon Rauch.
The Jays declined a $3.75 million option on Rauch at the end of the 2011 regular season. They're likely hoping that he will decline the arbitration offer and sign elsewhere, thus netting Toronto a 2012 draft pick.

The Jays declined a $3.75 million option on Rauch for next season, but they might have interest in bringing him back at a lesser rate. The 33-year-old righty posted a 4.85 ERA and tallied 11 saves in 52 innings of work this season. He's a Type B free agent.

Mon Oct 31 201117:58Blue Jays decline Rauch's option for 2012
Blue Jays declined Jon Rauch's $3.75 million option for 2012.
Rauch posted a disappointing 4.85 ERA and 11 saves over 52 innings before undergoing season-ending surgery on his right knee in September. The 33-year-old right-hander qualifies as a Type B free agent. Frank Francisco is also a free agent this winter, which means the Blue Jays will be on the hunt for a new closer.

Blue Jays placed RHP Jon Rauch on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to sept. 5, with torn cartilage in his right knee.
Rauch is expected to undergo season-ending surgery in the near future. The free-agent-to-be ends a disappointing season with a 4.85 ERA and 11 saves in 52 innings. The Jays don't figure to exercise his $3.75 million option, but they might have some interest in bringing him back at a lesser salary.

Thu Sep 1 201112:18Blue Jays activate Jon Rauch from DL
Blue Jays activated RHP Jon Rauch from the 15-day disabled list.
Rauch hasn't pitched since undergoing an emergency appendectomy in mid-August. The tall right-hander was handling save chances prior to going on the disabled list, but Frank Francisco has been the better pitcher for a while now. We suspect he'll pitch in a set-up role, at least initially.

Tue Aug 30 201117:33Rauch (appendectomy) throws sim. game
Jon Rauch (appendectomy) threw 25 pitches in a simulated game Tuesday.
Rauch also participated in fielding drills. If he feels alright physically on Wednesday, the Blue Jays plan to activate him from the disabled list Thursday. However, with the way Frank Francisco is pitching, the tall right-hander will likely pitch in a set-up role for now.

Mon Aug 29 201116:22Rauch (appendectomy) ready for sim. game
Jon Rauch (appendectomy) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Tuesday.
Barring any setbacks, he could return from the disabled list as soon as Thursday. Frank Francisco hasn't allowed a run since July 20, so we suspect he'll keep the closer job even after Rauch returns.

Fri Aug 26 201116:30Rauch (appendectomy) throws bullpen session
Jon Rauch (appendicitis) threw a bullpen session Friday.
Rauch underwent an emergency appendectomy earlier this month, but is getting back into the groove and should be ready to rock by the first or second week of September. He will throw another bullpen session Sunday.

Tue Aug 16 201120:37Jon Rauch expected to miss 3-4 weeks
Jon Rauch (appendicitis) is expected to be sidelined for 3-4 weeks.
Rauch had an appendicitis Tuesday and is already back at the Blue Jays' team hotel recuperating. The 3-4 week timetable is a conservative estimate, as it seems possible he could be back sooner if he progresses steadily. Frank Francisco will handle the ninth inning while Rauch is out.

Tue Aug 16 201115:11Jays place Jon Rauch on disabled list
Blue Jays placed RHP Jon Rauch on the 15-day disabled list with a case of appendicitis.
Rauch should be ready to roll as soon as his 15 days are up. The big right-hander has registered a 4.47 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 50 1/3 innings this season while tallying up 11 saves in 16 opportunities. Frank Francisco is likely to handle save chances now.

Tue Aug 16 201106:31Rauch loses another one
Jon Rauch took the loss on Monday, surrendering one earned run on three hits in only 2/3 of an inning.
Instead of losing this one in the ninth inning, Rauch entered in the eighth with the game tied. Four pitches later, Seattle's Casper Wells jacked one over the left field wall in what turned out to be the game-winner. Rauch has yielded at least one run in five of his last eight outings. It would not be surprising to see Frank Francisco retake the closer's role, as he has pitched nine consecutive scoreless innings.

The Blue Jays are hoping that Jon Rauch (knee) will feel well enough to pitch by Tuesday.

Sun Aug 7 201112:01Jon Rauch unavailable due to knee irritation
Jon Rauch is unavailable to pitch Sunday due to some irritation behind his right knee.
It doesn't sound like anything more than a day-to-day condition. Frank Francisco would likely be used Sunday if a save opportunity arises for the Blue Jays.

Fri Aug 5 201118:03Jon Rauch to remain closer for Blue Jays
Blue Jays manager John Farrell said Friday that Jon Rauch will remain the team's closer.
Rauch blew his fifth save of the season Thursday against the Rays and has allowed runs in three out of his last four appearances, but Farrell isn't ready to make a change. Frank Francisco, who hasn't allowed a run in six straight appearances, will only be used in the ninth inning if Rauch is unavailable due to workload.

Fri Aug 5 201106:55Rauch blows fifth save opportunity
Jon Rauch looked awful on Thursday, blowing his fifth save opportunity after yielding three runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings.
To make matters worse, Rauch had two chances to save this game: once in the ninth inning, and then again in the 10th after Toronto took the lead. He has blown three saves in the last month and has given up at least one run in three of his last four appearances. Meanwhile, Frank Francisco made another bid to reclaim the closer's job, tossing a scoreless inning for the sixth consecutive time.

Sun Jul 31 201113:18Report: Twins could reacquire Jon Rauch
Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Twins have talked to the Blue Jays about reacquiring Jon Rauch.
Christensen cautions, though, that "there has been nothing new on that front for a while." The Twins are looking to add a reliever, but if they end up getting Drew Storen in a Denard Span deal, they'd be out of the running for Rauch.

Fri Jul 29 201123:51Jon Rauch records ninth save
Jon Rauch picked up his ninth save Friday despite giving up a run in the ninth against the Rangers.
It was a Mike Napoli solo homer, but fortunately, Rauch had a two-run cushion. With Jason Frasor and Octavio Dotel gone, it appears more likely that Rauch will stay in Toronto, though it's not a sure thing. He's now 9-for-13 saving games.

According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, the Braves are eyeing Blue Jays relievers Jon Rauch and Jason Frasor.
The Braves are worried about the workloads of some of their younger relievers and want to add a couple of reliable arms for the stretch run. Rauch, 32, has a 3.89 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 41 2/3 innings this year. Frasor, 33, has a 2.98 ERA and 1.25 WHIP.
