Young will be pitching Monday on eight days' rest against the A's.
Young was pushed back twice for this outing, first getting bumped from Wednesday to Saturday, with Erasmo Ramirez starting, and then again Saturday to Monday to let Roenis Elias pitch. Young adjusted his in-between-starts routine to cut back on some workouts and be more aggressive on others.
Fri Aug 29 201421:46Young's start moved from Saturday to Monday
Young's start was moved from Saturday to Monday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Young's start was swapped with Roenis Elias, which will move the latter's start to Saturday. The reason for the move is unclear, but it's likely more related to Young than Elias.

Young struck out two, walked five, and allowed three runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings Saturday against Boston.
The Mariners were able to survive a short start from young, hanging seven runs on Boston starter Brandon Workman. Young continues to defy the odds with an extreme flyball, contact-heavy profile that suggests his ERA (3.17) should be more than a run higher (4.62 FIP) given his peripherals.

Young pitched six shutout innings Sunday, allowing four hits and a walk with four strikeouts at the Tigers for his career-high-tying 12th win.
Young wasn't as sharp as usual, burning through 99 pitches, but he again gave batters little to hit. He ranks sixth in baseball with 7.1 H/9. Some of that is due to a .232 BABIP, but Young's style of pitching plays into that as well, as he's historically had low BABIP rates (career .253). And while he's given up 19 homers (1.17 HR/9, 13th in MLB), his HR/FB rate is only 7.2 percent.

Young threw six scoreless innings Sunday against the Tigers, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out four.
Meanwhile Young got good run support, leaving the game with a 7-0 lead. Even though strikeout rates are a good way to predict success, they aren't the be-all, end-all, as Young's results can attest this season.

Young pitched six solid innings, allowing just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three batters in picking up his 11th (11-6)win of the year in Tuesday's victory over the Blue Jays.
Young continues to amaze at age 35 and is still getting results after all these years. Despite shoddy strikeout numbers (88 K's in 140.2 innings pitched), Young does sport a fine 3.20 ERA and 1.12 WHIP to still keep him relevant in fantasy circles. He will next take the mound Sunday on the road against the Tigers.

Young allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk in five innings Wednesday with six strikeouts against the Braves, reaching double-digit wins for the first time since 2006.
Young's underlying stats continue to portend trouble -- .230 BABIP, 5.68 K/9, 4.95 FIP and a career-high 78.7 strand rate. But he's doesn't take the mound with his fingers crossed; he actually has a plan -- pitch up the in zone and use excellent command to hit his spots consistently. Perhaps he really has figured out a way to succeed with a mid-80s fastball, or maybe he's just getting really lucky. At least he's knows not get excited by wins. "Wins are so far beyond a pitcher's control," he said after Wednesday's game. "One day the media will stop evaluating us on that."

Young allowed four runs and seven hits over 5.1 innings Thursday to record a no-decision at Cleveland. He walked two and struck out just one batter.
Young was handed a 4-1 lead early in the game, but gave up three runs in the fourth inning, including a two-run homer to Jason Kipnis. The tall righty had been on a roll until Thursday's so-so performance, with a quality start in seven of his previous eight outings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start at home against the Braves.
Sat Jul 26 201419:05Chris Young dominates as M's defeat Orioles
Chris Young hurled seven hurled seven innings of scoreless ball in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Orioles.
Young was again impressive, allowing only two hits to a good Baltimore offense. He walked three batters but struck out eight while moving to 9-6 on the season. The veteran right-hander will bring an excellent 3.04 ERA and 1.10 WHIP into his next start -- a rematch on the road against the Orioles.

Sun Jul 20 201419:46Young takes tough-luck no-decision vs. Angels
Chris Young was given a no-decision, allowing three runs over six innings as the Mariners suffered a crushing walk-off 6-5 loss to the Angels on Sunday.
Young was in line for the win until the Angels took advantage of an ineffective Fernando Rodney in the ninth inning. Young allowed ten hits -- including solo home runs to Kole Calhoun and Mike Trout -- but didn't issue a walk and struck out seven. The tall right-handed veteran sports a nice 3.22 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 70/38 K/BB ratio. Young is slated to take the bump against the Orioles at home on Friday.

Chris Young allowed three runs over six innings in a loss to the A's on Sunday.
After racking up 14 strikeouts in his previous two starts, Young struck out just two on Sunday. Even with the loss, it's been a good first half for the 35-year-old. Young enters the second half 8-6 with a 3.15 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.

Wed Jul 9 201400:48Young allows 2 runs to Twins over 7 innings
Chris Young gave up two runs over seven innings Tuesday against the Twins in the Mariners' 2-0 setback.
Young struck out six and allowed six hits, but one of them was an unforgivable solo homer to Sam Fuld. The right-hander was 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and .155 opponent average over his previous four starts. This was the 35-year-old Young's last start before the All-Star break, and what a first half resurgence it was. He went 8-5 with a 3.08 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 61/37 K/BB rate over 105 1/3 innings.

Wed Jul 2 201417:07Young fans eight as Mariners defeat Astros
Chris Young held the Astros to two runs over seven innings Wednesday in a 5-2 Mariners victory.
Young gave up solo homers in the third and fifth innings, but those were the only two hits he allowed. The right-hander also issued just one walk and he struck out eight Houston hitters. It was another impressive outing for the 35-year-old Young, who is 8-4 with a 3.11 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 98 1/3 innings this season for Seattle. He will face the Twins at home next.

Sat Jun 28 201401:37Chris Young gets five-inning win for Mariners
Chris Young gave up one run over five innings Friday against the Indians in the Mariners' 3-2 victory.
Young was doing fine for the Mariners before, but now he's taken it up a notch, allowing a total of two runs over 18 innings in his last three starts. It's a really nice story for however long it lasts. Tonight's outing was his 15th start of the season. Because of his recurring shoulder problems, he's made more than 15 starts just once since 2008 (20 starts for the Mets in 2012).

Sat Jun 21 201417:06Young goes seven innings in no-decision
Chris Young spun seven innings of one-run ball Saturday against the Royals, but was handed a no-decision.
Young gave up just three hits on the afternoon and the lone run scored via a solo homer from Alex Gordon. Still, the Mariners didn't pull ahead until the ninth inning, so he didn't get the victory. After a bit of a rough patch, the veteran right-hander has allowed just one run in 13 innings over his past two starts. We don't see the success lasting, but with a 3.23 ERA over 86 1/3 innings, he has far exceeded anyone's expectations.

Tue Jun 17 201401:13Young shuts out Padres over six innings
Chris Young took the mound with his best stuff in Monday's matchup against his former team, blanking the Padres over six innings in a 5-1 victory.
Young struck out six and walked one, allowing four hits. The towering right-hander went 33-25 with a 3.60 ERA across 97 starts for the Padres between 2006-2010. Prior to tonight, San Diego was the only team Young had never faced in his career. He pulled himself out of a funk against his former employer. Young had finished only five innings of work in each of his past two outings after going at least six in eight of his first 10 starts. Young, 6-4 with a 3.40 ERA, travels to Kansas City this weekend. He won't keep this up.

Thu Jun 12 201400:59Young can't hang with Tanaka in Tuesday loss
Chris Young yielded four runs on seven hits over five innings in the Mariners' loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.
The tall right-hander walked two and struck out a pair. Young was going to have a hard time hanging with Masahiro Tanaka anyway, but Mark Teixeira's two-run homer in the fifth ended any remote chance Seattle had of stealing this one. Young hasn't quite turned into a pumpkin yet, but he's getting close. Now 5-4 with a 3.68 ERA and gross 35/32 K/BB ratio, Young reintroduces an awful Padres offense to American League rules on Monday.

Fri Jun 6 201423:39Young gives up three runs in loss to Rays
Chris Young struggled in Friday's loss to the Rays, giving up three runs on seven hits and five walks over five innings.
He's lucky things weren't much worse. The five walks tied a season-high. Young has a 3.42 ERA over 11 starts and one relief appearance this season, but his success likely isn't built to last. The tall right-hander has an ugly 33/30 K/BB ratio over 68 1/3 innings.

Sun Jun 1 201401:47Chris Young goes six strong in win
Chris Young pitched six-plus innings of two-run ball and struck out six in a win over the Tigers on Saturday.
Miguel Cabrera got to him, but that was pretty much assured going in. The important thing was that no one else did much damage. In fact, Young allowed just three hits, and while all went for extra bases, they also all came with none on base. He would have ended up allowing just one run had Lloyd McClendon not senselessly sent him back out to give up a leadoff double in the seventh.

Mon May 26 201422:57Chris Young beats Angels for fourth win
Chris Young limited the Angels to one run and two hits in 6 1/3 innings to win Monday.
It was Young's fourth win, matching his high total in any season since 2008. He's gotten the job done despite a dreadful 24/23 K/BB ratio in 57 1/3 innings. He's also allowed nine homers. Even after all of these years, and with his velocity well down from his prime, he still allows far fewer hits than one would expect given his peripherals. He still doesn't figure to have lasting fantasy value for the Mariners, but he's been a big help so far.
