Mon Mar 3 201409:03Caron Butler may be available to play Tuesday
Caron Butler is expected to join the Thunder on Monday, but GM Sam Presti wouldn't guarantee his role in the rotation.
"We don't guarantee minutes, so I couldn't speak to how much he'll play or what role he'll play," Presti said. Butler's outlook is improved by Thabo Sefolosha's long-term absence with a strained calf, but even so he should be left on the waiver wire in standard leagues.

Sat Mar 1 201422:11Caron Butler expected to play on Tuesday
Caron Butler is expected to make his debut on Tuesday vs. the Sixers.
It's a nice day to make a debut against the Sixers and he should get some minutes. Butler's arrival is right on time with Thabo Sefolosha going down and he should be asked to take plenty of 3-pointers. Still, he's not really going to have much of an upside with the other scorers on OKC.

Fri Feb 28 201410:16Caron Butler chooses Thunder over the Heat
Thunder agreed to terms with Caron Butler.
Butler is the latest veteran to be bought out by a non-playoff team and join a contender. The 33-year-old has battled minor ankle and knee issues this season, but looked plenty healthy when he dropped seven 3-pointers on the Magic last week. Interestingly, he's shunned the Miami in favor of Oklahoma City, where he'll be battling Jeremy Lamb for reserve minutes behind Thabo Sefolosha and Kevin Durant. The deal will become official once Butler clears waivers at 3pm ET Friday.

Thu Feb 27 201416:59Caron Butler officially bought out by Bucks
The Bucks officially bought out Caron Butler's contract on Thursday.
He'll be on waivers for 48 hours, after which he'll get to choose between the teams interested in him -- so far the Heat and Thunder appear to be at the top of the list. If he does sign with Miami he could have sporadic fantasy value if and when Dwyane Wade's balky knees cause him to sit out, but Butler doesn't have enough upside to be worth stashing in standard leagues.

Thu Feb 27 201410:02Caron Butler being pursued by Thunder, Heat
The Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder have emerged as the favorites to land Caron Butler.
Butler is expected to clear waivers on Friday at which point it's sounding likely that he'll join one of the top teams in the league. Butler's season numbers of 11.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game this season don't scream fantasy value, but he could carve out a role on the Heat or Thunder that will provide value to owners in deeper leagues.

Wed Feb 26 201409:30Report: Heat interested in Caron Butler
The Heat will be "at the front of the line" to sign veteran SF Caron Butler once the Bucks buy out his contract, according to ESPN.com.
He's expected to clear waivers on Friday, freeing him to sign with a team of his choosing, and a return to Miami seems to have obvious appeal for both sides. Butler has averaged 11.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 24 minutes per game in Milwaukee this season, numbers he's unlikely to approach if he does accept a bench role with the Heat.

Tue Feb 25 201419:03Bucks discuss buyout w/ Caron Butler
The Bucks are discussing a buyout of Caron Butler's contract, according to beat writer Gery Woelfel.
The move makes sense for both sides, as the Bucks are tanking their way to the draft lottery and Butler, as a productive veteran, could join a playoff contender so long as he's released by Saturday. At this stage in his career he's unlikely to provide more than points and 3-pointers off another team's bench, if and when he clears waivers and gets signed

Mon Feb 24 201417:50Caron Butler (ankle) will not play on Monday
Caron Butler (ankle) will not play against the Sixers on Monday night.
He was probable for the game, but it's hardly a surprise to see him sit out tonight. Butler's high-ankle sprain kept him out of four games earlier this month and he could miss more time in the future.

Mon Feb 24 201412:20Caron Butler (ankle) likely to play vs. 76ers
Caron Butler (ankle) "should be a go" for Monday's game vs. the 76ers, according to beat writer Charles Gardner.
Anyone relying on the veteran swingman should check back for confirmation after Milwaukee's pre-game warmups. His probable availability is bad news for Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo, both of whom have been averaging around 25-30 minutes during the past five games.

Sun Feb 23 201415:09Caron Butler will travel for Monday's game
Caron Butler (ankle) will travel for Monday's game against the Sixers.
He missed Saturday's game with ankle soreness and will likely be a game-time decision for the road game. Butler's high ankle sprain cost him four games earlier this month and it could linger for a while. If he can't go, Khris Middleton will get a chance to redeem himself after a letdown Saturday night.

Sat Feb 22 201418:57Caron Butler is a game-time call vs. Indy
Caron Butler (ankle) is a game-time call against the Pacers on Saturday.
He's played well in the last two games since returning from an ankle injury, averaging 19.0 points, 5.5 boards, 1.0 blocks and 4.0 triples. His ankle could be sore and the Bucks might hold him out. If Butler sits, Khris Middleton would be a must-start option.

Thu Feb 20 201423:01Caron Butler scores team-high 17 points
Caron Butler scored a team-high 17 points against the Nuggets on Thursday with four boards, one assist, one steal, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes.
He looked comfortable in the starting unit and had a several aspects of his game working tonight. Butler is coming off a 21-point, seven-triple game on Tuesday and has probably done enough to warrant your consideration as a standard-league pickup. Of course, this could all change with coach Larry Drew changing his rotations more than he changes shirts.

Caron Butler will start on Thursday night.
He'll join Nate Wolters, Khris Middleton, Ersan Ilyasova and Zaza Pachulia in the starting lineup. Butler is coming off a 21-point game on Tuesday and could be effective tonight. Khris Middleton put up a 25 spot the last time he played the Nuggets and could have success again.

Thu Feb 20 201412:31Caron Butler possibly in Neal to CHA deal
Gery Woelfel is reporting that Caron Butler and Gary Neal could be heading to Charlotte for Ben Gordon's expiring contract.
There are also reports of Ramon Sessions for Neal, so it's tough to say which deal has more steam. But if Butler were to be shipped out of Milwaukee it would really help Khris Middleton sustain his fantasy value going forward.

Wed Feb 19 201416:24Caron Butler rests during practice
Caron Butler (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday afternoon.
He returned to action on Tuesday with a very impressive 21-point effort thanks to seven triples. Butler was out of the lineup since Feb. 3 due to his high-ankle sprain and is likely just dealing with some soreness. While Butler is an interesting pickup in some formats, it's hard to count on him considering the fluid rotations of coach Larry Drew, and he's been hurt quite a bit throughout his 12-year career.

Wed Feb 19 201401:21Caron Butler hits 7 3-pointers in return
Caron Butler returned from a high ankle sprain and hit 7-of-15 shots (all 3-pointers) for 21 points and seven rebounds in Tuesday's win over the Magic.
This was a season high for 3-pointers for Butler, who could be ready to stay hot for the Bucks, assuming he isn't traded. He scored in double digits in five of his last seven games before going down with the injury and Larry Drew seems to like him. He's not a must-own player, but if he's still in Milwaukee after Thursday's trade deadline, anything is possible.

Tue Feb 18 201409:48Bobcats' talks for Butler, Neal lose steam
The Bobcats reportedly had "traction" in a trade with the Bucks for Caron Butler and Gary Neal, but talks have "crumbled in recent days."
The takeaway is that the Bobcats may add a few veteran pieces to solidify their rotation while chasing a playoff spot, whereas the Bucks' list of potential trades continues to grow. In addition to this report about Neal and Butler, Luke Ridnour has drawn interest from a few teams and Ersan Ilyasova has reportedly asked for a trade.

Mon Feb 17 201418:10Caron Butler expected back for Tuesday night
Caron Butler (ankle) went through practice on Monday and expects to play on Tuesday.
He suffered a high-ankle sprain back on Feb. 3 and has not been able to play since that game. His injury opened up some playing time for Khris Middleton, but he really couldn't capitalize it due primarily to frequent foul trouble. Butler has been hurt far too often to be picked up and it doesn't help his playing time is inconsistent. Middleton owners shouldn't panic just yet.

Tue Feb 11 201414:06Caron Butler out again Wednesday
Caron Butler (ankle) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Pelicans.
Butler was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain eight days ago. Khris Middleton was saddled by foul trouble on Monday night, but he's a good bet for 30+ minutes on Wednesday.
