Ludwick is 0-for-7 in his two starts since coming off the DL on Monday. Neither Chris Heisey nor Xavier Paul was playing well prior to Ludwick's return, so the Reds should be patient. Still, there's no guarantee that it will pay off.

Mon Aug 12 201315:09Ludwick batting sixth in Reds' lineup Monday
Ryan Ludwick is batting sixth in his return to the Reds' starting lineup Monday against the Cubs.
It will be his first major league action since he dislocated his right shoulder on Opening Day. Shin-Soo Choo is leading off, Todd Frazier is batting second, Joey Votto is hitting third, Brandon Phillips is at cleanup and Jay Bruce will bat fifth. Ludwick could hold sneaky fantasy value down the stretch if his bat gets going.

Reds activated Ryan Ludwick from the 60-day disabled list.
Ludwick has been out since Opening Day, but was finally cleared to return after competing a minor league rehab assignment. He should provide a much needed upgrade over Chris Heisey as the Reds' starting left fielder. Ludwick's power potential makes him worth an add in all mixed leagues.

Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) is expected to return from the disabled list on Monday.
Ludwick has been sidelined since separating his shoulder on Opening Day. He may have been activated over the weekend, but has struggled through his rehab assignment, hitting just .111 (4-for-36) with one homer through his first 11 games. Sun Jul 21 201312:02Ludwick begins rehab assignment Wednesday
Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Dayton on Wednesday.
"I feel good," Ludwick said. "I've had some sore days but nothing that hasn't gotten better within a day or two. I'd say I'm getting more sore if areas other than my shoulder - my back and my legs and wrist. It's going to a progress. It's obviously going to be a longer rehab assignment. We'll see how he plays out." Ludwick is hoping that he won't need the full 20 days on his rehab assignment, but it will surely be something close to that. "But I'm not in charge either," Ludwick said. "I let those guys make the decisions and I play."

Ryan Ludwick will throw on the field Friday for the first time since shoulder surgery in April.
That's a bit earlier than Ludwick previously estimated. However, he still thinks that he will not be ready to return for another two months. Most fantasy owners can afford to move on at this point.

Sun May 26 201310:23Ryan Ludwick out until at least mid-August
Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) said Saturday that he'll be sidelined until "at least the middle of August."
When Ludwick had surgery in early April to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, it was reported that he could return just after the All-Star break in a best-case scenario. But Luddy said that's not, and never was, a possibility. "People seem to be under the impression that I'll be back in the middle of July and that's a complete lie," Ludwick said. "I can't even resume baseball activities until July 3, so it's at least the middle of August. I can't even throw a baseball or swing a bat until July. I've got a whole lot of stuff to do." Ludwick doesn't have enough upside to justify hanging onto him in fantasy leagues unless you're in a really deep format and have the DL space.

Ryan Ludwick (shoulder) is expected to miss the next three months.
Ludwick damaged the labrum in his right shoulder in Monday's season-opener against the Angels and is scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday. It's a tough blow for the Reds, who will use Chris Heisey in left field in Ludwick's absence. Derrick Robinson is likely to be called up from the minors to add some outfield depth.

Tue Apr 2 201315:43Ryan Ludwick to undergo shoulder surgery
Ryan Ludwick will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair torn cartilage in his right shoulder.
We likely won't know a timeline for his return until the surgery is complete, but it's fair to say that he's looking at an extended absence. The Reds will place him on the disabled list and make a corresponding roster move before Wednesday's game. Chris Heisey will get the majority of the playing time during his absence and is worth owning in deeper mixed leagues.
