Mon Sep 19 201115:00Casper Wells undergoing exam of head
Casper Wells stayed back in Seattle on Monday to undergo an examination of his head.
Wells has been sidelined since Saturday. At first, the M's were calling his ailment a "flu-like" illness, but now they're saying there are concerns about his equilibrium. We'll have to wait for the results of the exam to get a clearer picture about what exactly is going on with the outfielder.

Wells was given a scare Wednesday when he had to leave the game after being hit in the nose by a Brandon Morrow fastball. But, obviously he's fine given that he didn't even end up missing a game.

Thu Aug 18 201108:38Wells exits after being hit in nose by pitch
Casper Wells left Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays in the sixth inning when he was hit in the nose by a fastball from Brandon Morrow.
Scary stuff. Wells, who entered Wednesday's game with home runs in four straight games, took a glancing blow while trying to back away from the pitch. The good news is that X-rays came back negative and he is considered day-to-day. "It just felt like my nose fell off, pretty much," said Wells. "I couldn't see, which was scary. My eyes got all watered up and I couldn't see what was going on."

Sun Aug 14 201119:18Wells takes Wakefield yard
Casper Wells went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and stolen base in Sunday's win over the Mariners.
Since coming over from the Tigers on July 30, Wells has appeared in just 10 games. He's really just a fourth outfielder with mediocre speed and decent pop. The real problem is that he's struck out 44 times in 149 at-bats this season.

Casper Wells hit a two-run homer off Oakland's Rich Harden in Tuesday's game,
Wells has started all three games since joining the Mariners and gone 4-for-11 with three RBI. We're skeptical that he'll hit righties well enough to be a quality regular, but the Mariners might as well give him a long look.

Sat Jul 30 201113:30Casper Wells lands with Mariners
Mariners acquired OF Casper Wells from the Tigers in the Doug Fister deal.
Wells is a very good defensive outfielder and was holding his own with the bat, hitting .259 with four homers and a .781 OPS over 124 plate appearances before being sent down to Triple-A earlier this month. He profiles best as a fourth outfielder/occasional starter.

Wells has been with the Tigers all season, but he was cleared to make room for Wednesday's starter Duane Below. The 26-year-old has been productive when called upon, batting .259 with four homers and a .781 OPS over 124 plate appearances. He'll surely be back before long.

Sun Mar 27 201117:24Tigers' Wells fans four times
Casper Wells went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts Sunday versus the Astros.
Good thing for Casper that the Tigers made their roster decisions a couple of days ago. He made the team over Andy Dirks with an exceptional first few weeks, but he's currently in 0-for-10 and 3-for-25 slumps, lowering his average to .245.

Sun Mar 13 201118:04Tigers' Wells goes 4-for-4, homers
Casper Wells went 4-for-4 with a homer and two doubles as a Tigers split-squad took down the Orioles 9-1 on Sunday.
Wells is hitting .391/.533/.783 in 23 at-bats. He deserves a chance to be some team's fourth outfielder and starter against left-handed pitching, but since the Tigers start right-handed hitters throughout the outfield, he's just not a great fit with the team. Maybe they could use him in right field, with Magglio Ordonez DHing, when they give Victor Martinez starts behind the plate.

Thu Nov 18 201018:22Wells has jumper's knee, won't need surgery
Tigers outfield prospect Casper Wells has been diagnosed with "jumper's knee," also known as patellar tendinitis.
The issue sometimes requires corrective surgery, but Wells will undergo therapy instead and try to avoid going under the knife. He turned in a decent .233/.309/.483 batting line with 21 home runs and 46 RBI in 103 games this year at the Triple-A level and should see big league playing time in 2011.

Mon Aug 23 201015:15Tigers recall OF Casper Wells
Tigers recalled OF Casper Wells from Triple-A Toledo.
With Johnny Damon possibly leaving town, there is actually some possible playing time available to Wells. He definitely has some pop and some speed despite his struggles at Triple-A this year (.233/.309/.483) and his inefficient work on the basepaths (15 stolen bases, 16 caught stealings in the minor leagues in the last two years). He could make for a decent flier in the deepest leagues.
Sun Aug 22 201021:58Report: Tigers to recall Wells from Triple-A
The Tigers will recall outfielder Casper Wells from Triple-A Toledo on Monday, according to MLB.com.
Wells was in Toledo's starting lineup Sunday but was pulled. He's on his way to Detroit, according to the report, and a pitcher will likely be sent down on Monday to return the bullpen to seven members. Which reliever will be sent down? That's unknown at this time. Wells had two hits in nine at-bats during his last stint with the Tigers.

Sat May 22 201009:37Wells sent back to Triple-A Toledo
Tigers optioned OF Casper Wells to Triple-A Toledo.
Wells loses his spot to Ryan Raburn because Raburn can play both infield and outfield positions, though he wasn't getting much playing time anyway. Wells had two hits in nine at-bats during his time in the majors.
