Wed Apr 24 201323:08Lilly keeps the Mets at bay in no-decision
Ted Lilly allowed one run over five innings Wednesday, but the Dodgers lost to the Mets in extra innings.
Lilly was making his first start of the season following September shoulder surgery, and the start had to be a relief to the newly pitching-deficient Dodgers. Lilly did allow six hits but kept the Mets at bay by registering seven strikeouts. His next start will come Monday against the Rockies at Dodger Stadium.

Wed Apr 24 201316:15Dodgers activate Ted Lilly for Wed. start
Dodgers activated LHP Ted Lilly from the 15-day disabled list.
Lilly will start for the Dodgers on Wednesday night against the Mets. He is on his way back from September shoulder surgery and could struggle early on as he rebuilds the strength in his throwing arm. But the 37-year-old left-hander should eventually take on fantasy value.

Fri Apr 19 201316:16Lilly (shoulder) to start for Dodgers on Wed.
Ted Lilly (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list to start next Wednesday against the Mets.
Lilly will take the place of Chris Capuano, who was placed on the disabled list this week with a calf strain. The 37-year-old southpaw had surgery on his shoulder last September and wasn't overly impressive in his two rehab starts with High-A Rancho Cucamonga. Most fantasy owners can afford to wait and see for now.

Wed Apr 17 201309:32Ted Lilly (shoulder) makes rehab start
Ted Lilly allowed four runs (three earned) in five innings Tuesday in a rehab start with High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
Lilly gave up seven hits and a walk while striking out five. There's been some debate about his readiness following shoulder surgery, but the Dodgers may be forced to put him into the rotation as a result of Chris Capuano's calf injury.

Mon Apr 15 201319:17Ted Lilly to start Tuesday
Ted Lilly (shoulder) will make his next rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
Lilly originally refused to make another rehab start, as he feels he's totally healthy and ready to be activated. He's obviously changed his mind, though. It's not clear whether he'll make an additional rehab start after Tuesday or be activated.

Mon Apr 15 201317:58Lilly will make another rehab start
Ted Lilly (shoulder) will make his next minor league rehab start.
Lilly initially declined to continue his rehab assignment, but he has apparently had a change of heart. The Dodgers don't think he's ready to pitch in the majors at the moment, but that could change soon. Chris Capuano will take Zack Greinke's spot in the rotation for now.

Fri Apr 12 201312:11Lilly could take Greinke's rotation spot
Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com believes that Ted Lilly might be the leading candidate to assume Zack Greinke's spot in the rotation.
The other option is Chris Capuano, but Capuano isn't as stretched out as Lilly is right now, and the Dodgers don't believe Lilly would take to the bullpen very well. Lilly is on a rehab assignment, but he's been healthy for a while and reached 90 pitches Wednesday in his most recent outing. Greinke's next turn comes up on Tuesday.

Thu Apr 11 201322:54Dodgers undecided on Ted Lilly
The Dodgers will make a decision on what to do with Ted Lilly (shoulder) following his next bullpen session.
Lilly made his second rehab start Wednesday, and it's possible he might refuse to make another one. He's not injured, but the Dodgers don't have room for him in their rotation. Unless he's traded, he'll probably just replace Aaron Harang as a high-priced long reliever.

Thu Apr 11 201308:23Lilly (shoulder) allows 6 runs in rehab start
Ted Lilly (shoulder) allowed six runs over six innings Wednesday in a rehab start at Triple-A Albuquerque.
Lilly made it to 90 pitches and racked up five strikeouts, but he also yielded eight hits and a walk. He missed time this spring because of the flu and lingering concerns about his throwing shoulder, and the Dodgers seem likely to ask him to make at least one more rehab start. Better results would be welcome.

Tue Apr 9 201311:46Lilly (shoulder) set for next rehab start Wed
Ted Lilly (shoulder) will make his next minor league rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Albuquerque.
Lilly allowed five runs (including three home runs) in six innings in his first rehab outing last Friday with High-A Rancho Cucamonga. While his shoulder is healthy, he dealt with the flu during spring training and is still in the process of building arm strength. He'll likely make at least two more rehab starts before being activated. There's no room for him in the rotation at the moment, but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly has previously said that he is not suited to pitching in relief. Similar to Aaron Harang, the Dodgers may eventually be able to find a trade partner.

Tue Apr 2 201321:55Ted Lilly (shoulder) to make rehab start Fri.
Ted Lilly (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and is slated to make a rehab start Friday for High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
Lilly's shoulder really doesn't appear to be an issue at this point, as the Dodgers stashed him on the disabled list because they don't know what else to do with him. The club might have to trade either Chris Capuano or Aaron Harang in order to clear room on the roster for Lilly, who could also eventually be a trade candidate himself. "It'll work itself out," said manager Don Mattingly.

Fri Mar 22 201317:33Lilly (flu) throws in minor league game
Ted Lilly (flu) tossed five scoreless innings Friday in a minor league game.
Lilly threw 59 pitches and allowed two hits and a walk. While his shoulder hasn't been an issue this spring, he has had trouble getting work due to a lingering flu bug. The Dodgers have more arms than rotation spots, so it's not clear where he fits right now.

Tue Mar 19 201313:20Ted Lilly (flu) to throw bullpen Tuesday
Ted Lilly (flu) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday.
Lilly entered camp with questions about his left shoulder, but a lingering flu bug has been the bigger issue. Assuming he feels good, he should pitch in a minor league game on Friday. As of now, the veteran left-hander appears to be on the outside looking in for a rotation spot.

Fri Mar 15 201313:43Ted Lilly several days away
Ted Lilly (flu) played catch Friday but is still several days away from a return to game action.
Lilly must have caught a serious fly bug. The left-hander is coming back from arthroscopic surgery on his throwing shoulder, but it doesn't seem to be an issue any longer. Lilly is competing for the final spot in the Dodgers' rotation, so any missed time won't help him.

Thu Mar 14 201317:03Ted Lilly (flu) skips bullpen session
Ted Lilly skipped a scheduled bullpen session on Thursday due to recurring flu symptoms.
Lilly missed some time earlier this month with the flu and he's apparently not over it yet. The veteran southpaw hasn't had any issues with his shoulder this spring, but he has only made three appearances over 5 1/3 innings. He was scheduled to make his next start on Sunday, but that may have to be rescheduled at this point.

Mon Mar 11 201308:58Lilly the Dodgers' 5th starter, Ryu to pen?
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com writes that Ted Lilly might be "in position to initially be the fifth starter" for the Dodgers because he's "the least likely to adapt to relief."
It makes some sense in theory, but it's hard to imagine the Dodgers sending Hyun-Jin Ryu to the bullpen after the club shelled out a total of $61.7 million (including the posting fee) for him. General manager Ned Colletti said prior to spring training that using Ryu in relief was unlikely, but perhaps the club could change its mind after the lefty's Cactus League struggles. Lilly has made just one appearance this spring, but manager Don Mattingly has been pleased with the southpaw's progress. "He hasn't been able to log innings on the field, but the ball's coming out good," said Mattingly. "When you see Teddy at 88, 89 [mph], he's feeling good. He's healthy and he's bouncing back." The Dodgers are still likely to eventually trade a starter or two.

Tue Mar 5 201311:26Lilly (flu) to throw side session Wednesday
Ted Lilly (flu) is scheduled to throw a side session Wednesday.
Lilly was originally scheduled to throw on Tuesday, but the Dodgers are giving him an extra day following his recent flu-like symptoms. He will likely make his second appearance of the spring Friday against the Giants.

Tue Mar 5 201310:28Ted Lilly (flu) won't pitch on Tuesday
Ted Lilly (flu) won't pitch on Tuesday as originally planned.
Lilly recently dealt with the flu, so perhaps he needs another day or two to regain his strength. The veteran southpaw allowed one run -- a solo homer -- over two innings in his spring debut last week.
