Sat May 4 201300:36Francis gives up four runs in no-decision
Jeff Francis yielded four runs in five innings Friday in a no-decision against the Rays.
Francis was handed an early 3-0 lead, but it quickly evaporated after he gave up two runs in the third and a go-ahead two-run shot to Desmond Jennings in the fifth. All told, the veteran southpaw allowed five hits and one walk and also hit a batter. With a 7.27 ERA through six starts, there's no reason to pay attention to him in fantasy leagues.

Sat Apr 27 201323:42Francis allows two runs in no-decision
Jeff Francis gave up two earned runs in five innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.
Arizona won the game on a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning. Francis did his part for Colorado, yielding only four hits and one walk while striking out two. He was pitching on three days' rest yet still lowered his ERA from 8.44 to 7.29.

Wed Apr 24 201318:39Jeff Francis to start on three days' rest
Jeff Francis will start on three days' rest on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Francis lasted only 75 pitches over four innings in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, so it shouldn't be a big issue him coming back on short rest. Of course, given his 8.44 ERA and 2.25 WHIP to this point, he's likely to stink no matter how much rest he has.

Tue Apr 23 201317:59Jeff Francis takes loss to Braves
Jeff Francis gave up four runs and three homers in four innings Tuesday in a loss to the Braves.
Since beating the Padres in his season debut, Francis has allowed 19 runs -- 14 earned -- over 10 innings in three starts. The Rockies may consider replacing him if he's not better next time out.

Mon Apr 22 201317:12Braves/Rockies postponed, DH Tuesday
Monday's game between the Braves and Rockies has been postponed due to snow.
The two clubs will attempt to make up Monday's game with a doubleheader on Tuesday, with the first game beginning at 4:10 p.m. ET and the nightcap set for 8:40 p.m. Monday's starters, Jeff Francis and Mike Minor, will presumably be pushed back a day.

Wed Apr 17 201301:33Jeff Francis knocked around again
Jeff Francis was roughed up again Tuesday but escaped with a no-decision, allowing eight runs -- six earned -- over 4 1/3 frames in the 9-8 win.
He gave up nine hits, walked four and threw a pair of wild pitches. Francis pitched well in his first start of the season, but he's now been lit up for 15 runs -- 10 earned -- the last two times out. Drew Pomeranz should take his rotation spot eventually, though he also struggled the last time out. Francis will carry an 8.25 ERA and 2.33 WHIP into this weekend's start against the Diamondbacks.

Wed Apr 10 201319:07Jeff Francis gets removed in second
Jeff Francis was pulled after giving up seven runs -- four earned -- in 1 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Giants.
Francis allowed two runs in the first and then five before being removed in the second. Defense was certainly an issue that inning, and the foolish call to intentionally walk Joaquin Arias didn't help matters. But as little as Francis has left on his fastball, he's going to have days like this.

Sat Mar 16 201300:40Francis goes five scoreless in win over Reds
Jeff Francis turned in a terrific performance in Friday's victory over the Reds, scattering just four hits over five scoreless innings of work.
Francis piled up five strikeouts on the evening without issuing a free pass. He's certainly been on his game this spring, posting a 1.96 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 10/2 K/BB ratio over his 18 1/3 innings. He's done enough to secure his place in the Rockies rotation to begin the season, but offers little if any value in most fantasy formats.

Sun Mar 10 201319:03Francis allows four runs to Dodgers
Jeff Francis gave up four runs on six hits and walked two in 4 1/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers.
Francis hadn't allowed a run in 13 innings entering the game, but struggled against the middle of the Dodgers' lineup and was eventually pulled after giving up a three-run homer to Juan Uribe. Francis is the leading candidate to open the season a the Rockies' No. 5 starter.

Tue Mar 5 201318:20Jeff Francis goes four scoreless
Jeff Francis struck out four over four scoreless frames in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.
Francis allowed just one single and didn't walk anyone. The soft-tossing left-hander has now spun nine scoreless innings and hasn't walked a batter in his three Cactus League appearances. He's probably close to locking up a spot in the Rockies' rotation, but he should be far away from your fantasy team.

Sat Jan 12 201317:32Jeff Francis will not pitch for Canada in WBC
Jeff Francis will not participate for Team Canada in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, opting instead to focus on competing for a spot in the Rockies rotation.
Francis was signed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract in December to return to the club. The 32-year-old left-hander went 6-7 with a 5.58 ERA in 24 starts with the Rockies in 2012. He's proven in years past to be a valuable innings-eater and could provide veteran leadership to a very inexperienced rotation.

Wed Dec 19 201218:36Jeff Francis re-signs with Rockies
Rockies re-signed LHP Jeff Francis to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
The deal was reported earlier this month and now becomes official after Francis passed a physical. The left-hander posted an ugly 5.58 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 24 starts for the Rockies in 2012, but he'll compete for a rotation spot next season.

Jeff Francis will get a base salary of $1.5 million in his new one-year contract with the Rockies.
Those financial details are provided by ESPN's Jerry Crasnick. Francis agreed to the deal on Wednesday and will officially rejoin the Rockies on Friday after passing a physical. The left-hander is expected to compete for the fifth spot in the 2013 Colorado starting rotation.

Wed Dec 5 201219:52Francis re-signs with Rockies for one year
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Rockies have re-signed Jeff Francis to a one-year contract.
The financials aren't known, but he's getting a major league deal. Francis hasn't been the same pitcher since shoulder surgery, as he has a low ERA of 4.82 over the three years since the operation and put up a 5.58 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 24 starts for the Rockies in 2012.

Thu Oct 4 201200:01Jeff Francis notches sixth victory
Jeff Francis held the Diamondbacks to one run on five hits in five innings of Wednesday's season finale, improving to 6-7 in Colorado's 5-1 win.
Francis struck out three, walked one and allowed a solo home run to A.J. Pollock. The five-inning start was just his third in seven outings going back to September 1. That, of course, is largely a result of the Rockies' 75-pitch limit. Francis closes the book on 2012 the owner of a 5.58 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 76/22 K/BB ratio across 113 innings. Hopefully the Rox try to do better for their 2013 rotation.

Sat Sep 29 201201:18Jeff Francis lousy in loss to Dodgers
Jeff Francis did his thing in Friday's loss to the Dodgers, allowing five runs on six hits in four innings of work.
He struck out three and walked one. Francis' biggest mistake came in the second, where he surrendered a three-run homer to Shane Victorino. The bomb was just Victorino's second in 48 games as a Dodger. Handcuffed by the Rockies' absurd 75-pitch limit, Francis has recorded more than 12 outs only twice in his past six starts. The owner of a 5.75 ERA and 73/21 K/BB ratio through 108 frames, he's unlikely to be invited back to Colorado in 2013.

Wed Sep 19 201201:19Jeff Francis solid in loss to Giants
Jeff Francis pitched well in Tuesday's loss to the Giants, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings.
Francis walked one and struck out three. Xavier Nady delivered an RBI single in the second inning to get the Giants on the board and added another RBI knock in the sixth. Francis now sits 5-6 with a 5.58 ERA through 100 innings this season. He'll search for better results when he takes on the Diamondbacks at home on Sunday.

Fri Sep 7 201222:38Francis twirls gem in no-decision vs Phillies
Jeff Francis twirled a gem in a no-decision against the Phillies on Friday, scattering six hits and a walk over 5 2/3 scoreless innings.
Francis punched out seven in the impressive performance. With the Rockies' rotation being mostly horrendous on the whole, Francis has actually done a decent job, posting a 5-4 record, 5.38 ERA and 62/19 K/BB ratio over his 92 innings. He'll look to carry over the momentum from this strong outing when he squares off against the Giants at home on Wednesday.

Sun Sep 2 201218:36Francis hammered in no-decision vs. Padres
Jeff Francis was hammered in a no-decision against the Padres on Sunday, allowing five runs on 10 hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Francis walked four on the afternoon without walking a batter. Chase Headley was responsible for most of the damage, belting a two-run homer in the first and plating two more with a single in the fourth inning. He'll head into Friday's start against the Phillies in Philadelphia with an unimpressive 5-4 record and 5.73 ERA.

Mon Aug 27 201223:52Francis holds down Dodgers
Jeff Francis lasted just five innings Monday but held the Dodgers scoreless on three hits and a walk in the 10-0 victory.
He whiffed a season-high six, as he out-dueled Josh Beckett. Francis has certainly been nothing special, but, sadly, has probably been the Rockies' most consistent starter. He'll bring a 5.44 ERA and 1.43 WHIP into this weekend's start against the Padres.
