Fri Aug 13 201000:11Yankees' Kearns hits ninth homer
Austin Kearns went 2-for-4 and homered Thursday in the win over the Royals.
Keanrs played little initially for the Yanks, but he's started four straight games against a lefty heavy schedule this week and gone 6-for-13. Maybe that will be enough to earn him at least one start while the Royals throw right-handers each of the next three days.
Sat Jul 31 201010:26Indians deal Kearns to Yankees for PTBNL or $
Yankees acquired outfielder Austin Kearns from the Indians for a player to be named or cash.
The 30-year-old veteran gives the Bronx Bombers bench depth as well as an additional option against left-handed pitching. He hit .272/.354/.419 in 301 at-bats for the Indians. That sound you just heard was his AL-only value evaporating.

Sat Jul 24 201010:43Kearns doing much better
Austin Kearns (knee) participated in batting practice and was available off the bench Friday.
"Austin is doing much better," manager Manny Acta said. Kearns hasn't played since being pulled from Monday's game with a sore right knee, but it sounds like he should be able to return to the lineup shortly.

Mon Jul 19 201022:00Kearns pulled from Monday's game
Austin Kearns was pulled from Monday's game against the Twins in the fourth inning for an undisclosed reason.
There was no reason given, which will only fuel the speculation that he has been traded. The Indians will need to free up a roster spot in order to make room for Shin-Soo Choo later this week, so it would be no surprise to learn if Kearns is dealt sooner rather than later. Kearns was replaced in the lineup by Shelley Duncan.

Fri Jun 11 201022:05Kearns hits two homers, drives in four in win
Austin Kearns slugged two home runs and drove in four runs in a win over the Nationals on Friday night.
Manny Acta's revenge. Kearns connected for a three-run shot in the first and added a solo home run in the fourth. He is now batting a surprising .307/.393/.508 with seven home runs and 31 RBI over his first 179 at-bats this season. The oft-injured outfielder had just three home runs in 174 at-bats last season and seven home runs in 313 at-bats in 2008.
Sun Jun 6 201017:48Kearns collects three hits and two steals
Austin Kearns went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two steals on Sunday.
Kearns continues to hit the ball pretty well and has now worked his way into the third spot in Cleveland's lineup. Unfortunately, he's only got four homers and doesn't get many opportunities to drive in runs. He's now got four stolen bases this year, which is one less than he had in the past three season combined.
Wed Apr 28 201001:33Indians' Kearns knocks in five runs
Austin Kearns homered, doubled twice and drove in five runs in the Indians' 9-2 rout of the Angels on Tuesday.
Tue Apr 27 201001:32Indians' Kearns hits first homer
Austin Kearns went 3-for-4 with his first homer, a walk and a steal Monday against the Angels.
Kearns appears set to force the Indians to play him regularly, which would be bad news for Matt LaPorta owners. Kearns is hitting .368 with five extra-base hits in just 38 at-bats to date. At 29, he's still plenty young enough to turn in a comeback season.
Sat Apr 24 201018:46Kearns has three hits, drives in three in win
Austin Kearns was 3-for-5 with three RBI in a 6-1 win over the Athletics on Saturday afternoon.
He drove in Mark Grudzielanek to push the Indians' lead to 3-1 in the eighth inning and plated two more with a single in the top of the ninth. Kearns is now batting .367 (11-for-30) with four RBI this season. Don't get too carried away yet, but it looks like Indians' manager Manny Acta may mix him in a bit more than originally thought.
Fri Apr 16 201021:25Kearns has two hits while playing in left
Austin Kearns went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in Friday's win over the White Sox.
Kearns isn't worth a look in any fantasy format, but it's more bad news for Michael Brantley, who was given the night off. Kearns is hitting .333 on the young season and Brantley could be headed to the minors once Russell Branyan is ready.
