Mon Mar 11 201316:24Kevin Slowey gives up three runs to Red Sox
Making his first start of the spring, Kevin Slowey surrendered three runs in three innings Monday against the Red Sox.
Slowey pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings in three appearances out of the pen to earn the assignment today. He's in the running for a rotation spot, but since Wade LeBlanc is off to a fine start, Slowey's chances would seem to hinge on Jacob Turner or Nathan Eovaldi taking a big step backwards and getting demoted.

Thu Feb 28 201316:59Kevin Slowey goes 2 2/3 scoreless
Kevin Slowey pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Jacob Turner against the Cardinals on Thursday.
Slowey has been injured for much of the last couple of years, but if he's finally healthy again, he's a sleeper. As an extreme flyball pitcher, he'd likely find Marlins Ballpark very much to his liking.

Wed Jan 23 201312:05Marlins ink RHP Kevin Slowey to minors deal
Marlins signed RHP Kevin Slowey to a minor league contract.
The deal presumably includes a spring training invite, where he could be in the mix for the fifth spot in the starting rotation. Slowey posted a 5.14 ERA and 34/13 K/BB ratio over 49 innings with the Indians' Triple-A affiliate in 2012 and missed a large chunk of the season with a stress fracture in his rib cage. The 28-year-old has a 4.66 ERA over five seasons in the majors.

Fri Nov 16 201212:10Kevin Slowey drawing interest
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Kevin Slowey is "garnering some interest on the market."
Slowey posted an unimpressive 5.14 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 49 innings this year at the Triple-A level for the Indians in 2012. The 28-year-old wouldn't be a bad guy to have around for depth purposes, but he'll have to settle for a minor league deal.

Fri Oct 5 201215:02Kevin Slowey recalled
Indians recalled RHP Kevin Slowey from Triple-A Columbus.
Slowey's first year in Cleveland didn't go well, as he posted a 5.14 ERA over eight starts and spent most of the season on the DL with a lat strain. His nice 2008 campaign seems very long ago.

Kevin Slowey was scratched from Sunday's start with Triple-A Columbus as a result of being struck in the head by a ball during batting practice Friday.
It's not clear how long he might be out, but obviously he won't be considered for a promotion if the Indians should need a starter in the next few days. Slowey was one of the last spring training cuts after failing to make the rotation.

Wed Mar 21 201218:22Kevin Slowey blasted by Giants
Kevin Slowey was knocked around by the Giants Wednesday, surrendering four runs on five hits and three walks over four innings.
He struck out a pair and also threw two wild pitches. The big blow came in the form of a mammoth three-run homer by Brett Pill in Slowey's last inning of work. The right-hander's spring ERA jumped to 6.75. He's not doing himself any favors as he competes for a spot at the end of the Tribe's starting rotation.

Fri Mar 16 201220:15Kevin Slowey has rough day vs. Angels
Kevin Slowey allowed three runs on five hits and one walk in three innings of Friday's loss to the Angels.
Slowey got knocked around by a split-squad Angels lineup, and is now the owner of an ugly 5.63 ERA through his first eight Cactus League frames. Even if he cracks the Indians' Opening Day rotation, he won't be a fantasy option outside of deeper AL-only leagues.

Tue Mar 6 201218:38Kevin Slowey throws two shutout frames
Kevin Slowey tossed a pair of shutout innings in his Indians debut Tuesday, allowing four hits while walking and striking out no one against the Royals' split-squad.
Slowey had to strand a few runners, but at least all four hits he gave up were singles. The former Twin is an option to fill in at the back of the Indians rotation until Roberto Hernandez is ready, though he's coming off a woeful season where he posted a 6.67 ERA over 14 appearances.

Fri Jan 20 201216:35Indians acquire Kevin Slowey from Rockies
Indians acquired RHP Kevin Slowey from the Rockies for RHP Zach Putnam.
Slowey never threw a pitch for the Rockies, but that's probably a good thing considering his extreme fly ball tendencies. While he's coming off an awful year where he posted a 6.67 ERA over 59 1/3 innings at the major league level, the prospect of making half his starts at the pitcher-friendly Progressive Field sets the stage for a nice bounceback. He'll serve as rotation depth in case Fausto Carmona (Roberto Hernandez Heredia) isn't granted entry into the United States for the start of the season.

Fri Jan 20 201216:04Report: Indians acquire Slowey from Rockies
According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Indians have acquired right-hander Kevin Slowey from the Rockies for right-hander Zach Putnam.
Sounds like the Indians are bracing for the possibility that Fausto Carmona (otherwise known as Roberto Hernandez Heredia) might not be ready for the start of the season. The Rockies just acquired Slowey from the Twins in December after he posted a 6.67 ERA over 59 1/3 innings last season. He avoided arbitration last week by agreeing to a one-year, $2.75 million contract. On the bright side, Progressive Field is a much better place for him to get back on track than Coors Field.

Tue Dec 6 201110:49Rockies acquire RHP Kevin Slowey for PTBNL
Rockies acquired RHP Kevin Slowey from the Twins for a player to be named later.
Slowey went 0-8 with a 6.67 ERA in 59 1/3 innings this past season for the Twins. He's had success in the past and his failures in 2011 had much to do with injuries, but we'd bet against him suddenly bouncing back in Colorado. The right-hander is entering his second year of salary arbitration.

Mon Dec 5 201114:34Twins making Kevin Slowey available
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Twins have made it known that Kevin Slowey is available.
If the Twins are unable to deal Slowey at this week's Winter Meetings, they'll likely non-tender him later this winter. The 27-year-old right-hander posted a 0-8 record and 6.67 ERA across 59 1/3 innings in 2011.

Slowey made $2.7 million this season while going 0-8 with a 6.67 ERA and 34/5 K/BB ratio over 59 1/3 innings. It's possible the Twins could find a trade partner, but the 27-year-old right-hander is likely to draw more interest as a free agent.
