Sun Jun 29 201422:08Chris Parmelee will get looks in center field
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Sunday that Chris Parmelee will continue to get chances in center field for as long as he remains hitting.
The Twins are desperate to infuse their lineup with more offense, so they are willing to accept the trade-off of diminished defensive prowess in center field if it means that Parmelee adds another potent bat to the lineup. While it's a nice idea in theory, the chances that he hits well enough to justify the move on a regular basis aren't good.

Wed Jun 18 201416:32Chris Parmelee goes 3-for-4, homers
Chris Parmelee was the Twins offense on Wednesday, going 3-for-4 with a go-ahead homer off Red Sox closer Koji Uehara in the top of the 10th.
It went for naught, as the Red Sox rallied in the bottom of the 10th, but it was still quite a game for a guy making just his fourth start of the month. The rest of the Twins combined to go 1-for-29 today.

Wed May 21 201401:19Parmelee goes deep, Twins sink Padres
Chris Parmelee hit a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over the Padres.
Parmelee has ridden injuries and Oswaldo Arcia's demotion into regular at-bats over the past few weeks. He's delivered well enough, slashing .257/.316/.514. Parmelee has bought himself a little leash, but he'll have to keep it up to stick around. This is a player who passed through waivers unclaimed in late September.

Wed May 14 201401:04Parmelee's two-run walk-off homer downs BoSox
Chris Parmelee hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Twins an 8-6 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.
With two outs and the virtually untouchable left-hander Andrew Miller on the mound, Parmelee crushed a 96 mph fastball over the right field wall to give the Twins a victory. It was the exclamation point on a very good night for the 26-year-old, who finished 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. In four games since being recalled, Parmelee is hitting .438 with a 1.096 OPS.

Fri May 9 201414:51Chris Parmelee called up from Triple-A
Twins purchased the contract of INF/OF Chris Parmelee from Triple-A Rochester.
Parmelee was removed from the 40-man roster before the season but earned his spot back by hitting .305/.378/.542 with seven homers and 23 RBI at Triple-A. With Josh Willingham (wrist) and Oswaldo Arcia (wrist) on the DL and Joe Mauer (back) banged up, Parmelee should see a decent amount of playing time.

Thu Mar 27 201414:38Twins place OF Chris Parmelee on waivers
Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports that the Twins have placed Chris Parmelee on waivers.
Parmelee is out of options, so the Twins couldn't simply send him to the minor leagues. They'll hope that he passes through waivers and winds up at Triple-A Rochester. Parmelee, 26, is a .246/.322/.395 career hitter in 631 major league plate appearances.

Sat Mar 1 201416:20Chris Parmelee hits three-run homer in win
Chris Parmelee hit a three-run homer off lefty Jose Mijares in the Twins' 6-2 victory over the Red Sox on Saturday.
Parmelee is likely behind Josh Willingham, Oswaldo Arcia and Jason Kubel for playing time in the outfield corners and at DH, but he does have one big advantage over the field; he's the only quality defender in the bunch. If Parmelee hits, it'd make a lot of sense for the Twins to start him in right, shift Willingham to DH and sit Kubel.

Chris Parmelee (cyst) is back to full strength.

Mon Jan 27 201408:391B/OF Parmelee (wrist) has cast removed
Chris Parmelee (cyst) removed his wrist cast over the weekend.
Parmelee recently underwent "super minor" surgery. "It didn't bother me too much," he said of the injury. "It didn't affect anything." Parmelee believes he'll be cleared to take swings in a week or so. "I'll have two to three weeks to swing before camp actually starts," he said. The soon-to-be 26-year-old will compete for a bench spot after batting just .228/.309/.354 with eight homers over 101 contests last season.

Wed Sep 11 201310:28Twins GM doesn't know who will be 1B in 2014
Twins general manager Terry Ryan said that the team doesn't know who will replace Justin Morneau at first base in 2014.
Morneau's replacement could potentially be himself, as the slugger, traded to the Pirates last month, is a free agent this winter. Chris Parmelee and Chris Colabello are two leading in-house candidates for the job.

Sun Sep 8 201317:13Twins recall Chris Parmelee from Triple-A
Twins recalled INF/OF Chris Parmelee from Triple-A Rochester.
Parmelee opened the season as the Twins starter in right field, but was a tremendous disappointment hitting .223/.303/.372 with eight homers and 20 RBI in 83 games. His .231/.318/.370 slash at Triple-A certainly doesn't inspire any confidence either. He can safely be avoided in AL-only leagues.

Twins optioned INF/OF Chris Parmelee to Triple-A Rochester.
Parmelee will likely be recalled following the All-Star break. He has a .223/.303/.372 batting line in 83 games this season.

Mon Jul 1 201323:42Chris Parmelee homers in losing cause
Chris Parmelee went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the Yankees on Monday.
Parmelee's .234/.318/.400 line isn't all that bad, but one big problem is that he's hit .157 with just three extra-base hits in 89 at-bats with runners on base, compared to .293 with 13 extra-base hits in 116 at-bats with none on. As a result, he's sitting on 18 RBI in 205 AB. The Twins have been patient so far, but it looks like they're probably better off with Oswaldo Arcia in right field.

Chris Parmelee went 3-for-5 with two home runs, but the Twins lost to the Indians on Saturday.
The homers gave Parmelee seven on the season, and he also doubled in the game. Despite the power surge, he's hitting just .232/.308/.389 in 64 games this year.

Fri May 31 201300:23Chris Parmelee hits fifth homer in Twins' win
Chris Parmelee went 2-for-4 and hit his fifth homer for the Twins in an 8-6 win over the Brewers on Thursday.
Parmelee, Joe Mauer and Ryan Doumit all hit their fifth homers for the Twins tonight. With Doumit suddenly finding his stroke this week, Parmelee might be in line to lose some playing time if he can't pull off the same sort of trick. He's batting .223 with a mere 14 RBI in 139 at-bats for the season.

Tue May 14 201304:48Chris Parmelee struggling at the dish
Chris Parmelee is 3-for-22 (.136) over his last eight games.
A lone double counts as his only extra-base hit during that stretch. It's an awful time for Parmelee to scuffle, as Oswaldo Arcia has clearly passed him on the depth chart, relegating he and Ryan Doumit into a platoon. If Parmelee (.214/.301/.337) continues to hit like an injured utility player, he may find himself in the business class on a flight to Rochester soon.

Wed May 1 201316:20Chris Parmelee homers in Twins' victory
Chris Parmelee had a solo homer and an RBI single in the Twins' 6-2 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday.
The Twins beat Anibal Sanchez to avoid being swept in Detroit. Parmelee's homer off reliever Darin Downs was his first in 87 career at-bats against left-handers. The Twins have largely stuck with him even after promoting Oswaldo Arcia, and hopefully, he'll start rewarding their faith now. Another slump would probably get him removed from the lineup.

Fri Apr 12 201317:14Parmelee not in Friday's lineup
Chris Parmelee is not in Friday's lineup against the Mets.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire is going with Wilkin Ramirez in right field against the left-hander Jon Niese. Parmelee should be back in there Saturday against right-hander Matt Harvey.
