Fri Jun 29 201212:45Charlie Furbush having terrific year
Charlie Furbush has posted a 1.96 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 42/7 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings out of the Mariners' bullpen this season.
Furbush didn't even make the Opening Day roster, but he's turned into one of the most effective relievers in the American League to this point. He hasn't given up a run since May 15, and, depending on how creative Ron Washington wants to get with his selections, could get some consideration for the All-Star game.

Fri Apr 13 201217:02Mariners call up LHP Charlie Furbush
Mariners recalled LHP Charlie Furbush from Triple-A Tacoma.
Furbush posted a 0.82 ERA and 7/2 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings this spring, so one could argue that he should have been with the big club all along. The 25-year-old southpaw should pitch in middle relief.

Sun Sep 25 201118:46Charlie Furbush lit up by Rangers
Charlie Furbush was lit up by the Rangers Sunday, giving up six runs -- five earned -- on six hits and a walk over just 4 1/3 innings.
He struck out four, served up a pair of home runs and needed 95 pitches to cover the 4 1/3 frames. It's Furbush's second straight terrible outing, and he's been quite awful for the Mariners since coming over from Detroit, posting a 6.62 ERA over 11 games -- 10 starts. The lefty has a good minor league track record, though, and has a shot to be a decent back-end starter, especially in that home park. He'll compete for a rotation spot next spring.

Wed Sep 14 201101:01Furbush falls to 3-9 in Seattle's 3-2 loss
Charlie Furbush allowed three runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings on Tuesday, falling to 3-9 in Seattle's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.
It wasn't all bad news, as he struck out six and walked none against a strong Yankees lineup. Furbush has failed to notch a quality start in four of his last five outings. He hasn't had a decent start since mid-August. Keep him benched in AL-only leagues.

Charlie Furbush allowed three runs on five hits and a walk in 7 1/3 innings on Wednesday, falling to 3-8 in Seattle's 3-1 loss to the Angels.
He struck out three in his first quality start in four outings. Now 2-5 with a 5.87 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 25/14 K/BB ratio in 38 1/3 innings as a Mariner, Furbush will get the Yankees at home next Monday. Keep him benched in AL-only leagues.

Sun Aug 14 201119:34Furbush has best outing as a starter
Charlie Furbush yielded just one run in a career-high seven innings as the Mariners beat the Red Sox Sunday.
In Furbush's third start of the season, he shuts down the potent Red Sox lineup. He struck out six, walked two and gave up just four hits while improving to 2-1 as a starer. With the Mariners looking to balance out their left-heavy rotation, Furbush is getting an extended look. In home starts, he's worth considering as an AL-only spot start.

Mon Aug 8 201123:14Furbush shelled by Rangers
Charlie Furbush had a night to forget in his second start for the Mariners on Monday, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and four walks in just four innings of a Seattle loss to the Rangers.
He managed zero strikeouts in falling to 4-6 on the season. He'll take a 4.46 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 29/19 K/BB ratio into his Sunday start against the Red Sox.

Wed Aug 3 201118:54Charlie Furbush earns win in Mariners debut
Charlie Furbush earned a win in his Mariners debut after allowing one run and two hits in five innings Wednesday versus the A's.
The plan was for Furbush to work out of the pen initially, but that changed with Erik Bedard was traded. Despite being on a strict pitch count today, he got through five innings in impressive fashion. He walked none and faced just one batter over the minimum. With Safeco helping him out, Furbush just might have a little value in AL-only leagues. Still, it won't be a good idea to play him when he pitches in Texas next week.

Sat Jul 30 201114:55Furbush will start, but not right away
Mariners manager Eric Wedge said the newly acquired Charlie Furbush will be given a chance to start but first needs to build up his stamina.
He last started on July 14 at Triple-A Toledo and has made four relief appearances -- three of those with the Tigers -- since. Furbush will be stretched out as a long man out of the bullpen for now and could join the rotation later this season. For now, Blake Beavan takes Doug Fister's spot among the starting five.

Sat Jul 30 201113:26Charlie Furbush heads to Seattle
Mariners acquired LHP Charlie Furbush from the Tigers in the Doug Fister deal.
Furbush didn't fare well in his two starts this season for the Tigers but pitched well in a relief role, posting a 3.62 ERA and 1.55 WHIP overall. He also has a nice minor league track record, posting a 3.17 ERA and 61/16 K/BB ratio over 54 Triple-A innings this season. He could wind up being a nice fit at the back-end of the Mariners rotation in a pitcher-friendly home park.

Sat Jul 30 201110:11Report: Charlie Furbush headed to Seattle
CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that Charlie Furbush, along with others, is expected to be traded to the Mariners as part of the Doug Fister deal.
Knobler also adds that the Tigers are trying to get a reliever from the Mariners, as well, though it will not be Brandon League. Furbush has flopped in his two starts this season for the Tigers but pitched well in a relief role, posting a 3.62 ERA and 1.55 WHIP overall. With a 3.17 ERA and 61/16 K/BB ratio over 54 Triple-A innings this season, Furbush is an intriguing back-end of the rotation possibility in the long-term.

Tue Jul 19 201120:20Charlie Furbush to serve as long man
FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Tigers are expected to promote Charlie Furbush to serve as their long man out of the bullpen.
The Tigers chose Duane Below over Furbush to start Wednesday, but it sounds like Furbush will still get to rejoin the roster. It's not clear what corresponding move they'll make.

Sun Jul 17 201114:02Furbush or Below to start Wednesday
The Tigers are expected to recall Charlie Furbush or Duane Below to start on Wednesday.
Furbush hasn't looked very good in his first two tries in the rotation, but the Tigers don't have many options and he might get another shot. Below holds a 3.13 ERA in 18 starts for Triple-A Toledo. The Tigers are not considering promoting top prospect Jacob Turner and are unlikely to do so this season.

Sat Jul 9 201123:08Furbush optioned to AAA
Tigers optioned LHP Charlie Furbush to Triple-A Toledo.
Furbush was shelled in his start Saturday and wasn't too impressive in his first start. He took Phil Coke's spot in the rotation but only made it through 7 1/3 innings over two starts. Danny Worth will be called up Sunday in his place.

Tue Jul 5 201100:22Charlie Furbush survives first start
Making his first start in place of Phil Coke on Monday, Charlie Furbush allowed three runs on five hits and a walk in 4 2/3 innings of Detroit's 5-1 loss to the Angels.
He struck out five. Not an impressive outing, but hardly a disastrous one. The owner of solid peripherals in both the minor leagues and Detroit's bullpen, Furbush is certainly worth keeping an eye on in AL-only formats.

Thu Jun 30 201110:38Furbush to replace Coke in rotation
Charlie Furbush will replace the struggling Phil Coke in the starting rotation.
His first start will be Monday against the Angels. While Furbush has impressed in a relief role with the Tigers, he has primarily been a starting pitcher in the minor leagues. The 25-year-old southpaw had a 2.91 ERA and 55/14 K/BB ratio over his first eight starts this season before being called up by the Tigers last month.
