Wed Sep 14 201123:43Millwood quality in win over Brewers
Kevin Millwood allowed two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings on Wednesday, improving to 3-2 in Colorado's 6-2 win over the Brewers in Milwaukee.
He struck out two in his second quality start in three outings this month. The owner of a 3.68 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 29/6 K/BB ratio in 44 innings since joining the Rockies rotation, Millwood has likely ensured he'll be able to gain employment this offseason.

Thu Sep 8 201100:45Millwood takes loss against Arizona
Kevin Millwood allowed four runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday, falling to 2-2 in Colorado's 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks at home.
Millwood is now the owner of a 3.79 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 27/4 K/BB ratio through his first 38 innings pitched in a Rockies uniform. He's a solid spot-starting option in mixed leagues when Colorado is on the road.

Sat Sep 3 201101:10Kevin Millwood goes seven scoreless for win
Kevin Millwood blanked the Padres for seven innings to win Friday.
Millwood combined with Rex Brothers and Rafael Betancourt on the shutout. He's 2-1 with a 3.34 ERA for Colorado, but since his next start comes against the Reds at Coors Field, he'll be a mediocre play in NL-only leagues.

Sat Aug 27 201120:10Millwood takes no-decision vs. Dodgers
Kevin Millwood allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings as part of a no-decision against the Dodgers on Saturday.
Both runs scored after Millwood was pulled in favor of Matt Belisle. All told, the veteran right-hander gave up five hits and walk while striking out two. He now has a 4.26 ERA and 15/4 K/BB ratio in 25 1/3 innings over his first four starts with the Rockies. With a start on the road next week against the Padres, he could be a decent option in NL-only leagues.

Sun Aug 21 201120:59Millwood gets first win of the season
Kevin Millwood earned his first major league win in almost a year by holding the Dodgers to three earned runs over seven innings Sunday.
Millwood struck out four, walked one and gave up seven hits. Now locked into the starting rotation with Juan Nicasio done for the year, Millwood is earning some viability in deeper NL-only formats. He has gone at least six innings in each of his three starts and is sporting a 4.50 ERA to go with a 1.15 WHIP.

Tue Aug 9 201109:50Millwood to start Wednesday for Rockies
Kevin Millwood will make his 2011 major league debut on Wednesday night against the Reds.
Millwood inked a minor league contract with the Yankees at the beginning of the season but failed to make it off the farm, then had a similar experience with the Red Sox. He's found a better opportunity out in Colorado, though we can't recommend the 36-year-old veteran as a good fantasy option.

Sun Aug 7 201111:02Kevin Millwood released
Red Sox released RHP Kevin Millwood.
This confirms an earlier report from Maureen Mullen of CSNNE.com. Millwood, 36, has posted a 4.32 ERA and 76/31 K/BB ratio over 89 2/3 innings this year in the minors, but apparently he felt or was told he was never going to get a shot with the Red Sox. He'll either try to catch on with another organization or just shut things down for the year and sign with someone over the winter.

Sun Aug 7 201109:50Report: Millwood leaves Sox organization
Maureen Mullen of CSNNE.com reports that Kevin Millwood has left the Red Sox organization.
Millwood evidently cleaned out his locker after Triple-A Pawtucket's game Saturday. There's been no official word from him or the Red Sox that he's left, but it's clear he realizes at this point that he's not in their plans and would rather be in another organization or at home with his family. Millwood, 36, has posted a 4.32 ERA and 76/31 K/BB ratio over 89 2/3 innings this year in the minors.

Sun Jul 10 201109:00Millwood likely to get a shot at some point
Red Sox farm director Mike Hazen thinks Kevin Millwood is "probably going to get a shot at some point somewhere down the line this year."
Millwood has just a 4.50 ERA in eight starts with Triple-A Pawtucket, but it's come along with a nifty 41/14 K/BB ratio over 44 innings. "We've seen the dependability of being able to go out there and take the ball and go through a lineup two and three times," Hazen said. "It's exactly what he's been at the major-league level and what he's starting to do down here now that he's getting settled in." The Sox picked Kyle Weiland over Millwood to start Sunday. But, with the number of injuries they're dealing with and John Lackey struggling (at least before Saturday), Millwood seems likely to get a chance at some point during the second half.

Sat Jun 25 201118:08Millwood not opting of contract
Kevin Millwood chose not to opt of his contract with the Red Sox.
The 36-year-old veteran is currently with Triple-A Pawtucket and doing a fantastic job with a 2.89 ERA. With Dice-K out for the season there is a vacancy in the starting rotation. So far the Sox have used Andrew Miller and Tim Wakefield so Millwood could get a shot if he continues to pitch well. However there is the possibility that he could explore other options later in the season.

Mon Jun 13 201111:42Millwood pitching well at Pawtucket
Kevin Millwood allowed one earned run in a five-inning rehab start Sunday at Triple-A Pawtucket.
Millwood has allowed just two earned runs in his last 11 2/3 innings after getting off to a bit of a rough start with a poor first outing at Pawtucket. His ERA is now down to 3.77. If the 36-year-old continues improving, he might eventually be in line for a spot start in the majors.

Mon Jun 6 201118:09Millwood solid in second Triple-A start
Kevin Millwood allowed one run on five hits over 6 2/3 innings Monday in his second start with Triple-A Pawtucket.
Millwood struck out four and walked none while his velocity reportedly sat around 87-89 mph on the radar gun. The veteran right-hander gave up four runs over 2 2/3 innings in his first start with the PawSox last week, so this outing was a step in the right direction.

Thu Jun 2 201109:22Millwood struggles in first start with PawSox
Kevin Millwood gave up four runs on five hits over 2 2/3 innings Wednesday in his first start with Triple-A Pawtucket.
Ugly. Millwood walked two and struck out three while throwing 36 out of 61 pitches for strikes. He'll obviously need to do a lot better to have any chance of getting another shot on a major league roster.

Thu May 19 201114:47Angels deny interest in Kevin Millwood
Angels general manager Tony Reagins denied a report by Jon Heyman of SI.com that the club has interest in Kevin Millwood.
"That tweet has no basis," said Reagins, rather entertainingly. Assuming we can scratch the Angels off the list, that leaves the Red Sox, Cubs and Orioles as clubs that have been connected to the 36-year-old right-hander. It's highly unlikely that he finds a major league contract, however.

Thu May 19 201112:03Angels, Cubs, Red Sox in on Kevin Millwood
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Angels, Cubs and Red Sox are among the teams showing interest in Kevin Millwood.
Millwood opted out of his minor league contract with the Yankees earlier this month in search of a major league deal. The veteran right-hander went 4-16 with a 5.10 ERA in 31 starts for the Orioles last season, so he's really in no position to make any demands. He'll likely have to prove himself in the minors before finding his way back to the major leagues.

Wed May 18 201120:25Red Sox give Kevin Millwood a call
MLB Network's Peter Gammons reports that the Red Sox have called Kevin Millwood's agent to ask if the right-hander would be willing to go to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Millwood opted out of his deal with the Yankees at the beginning of the month and reportedly wants only to sign on somewhere if he's given an immediate spot on a 25-man roster. That won't happen with the Red Sox, but he might not be in the minors long with both John Lackey and Daisuke Matsuzaka recently landing on the DL. Millwood posted a 4.50 ERA in three innings between Double- and Triple-A for the Yanks.

Tue May 3 201116:07Nothing imminent between O's and Millwood
Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports that the Orioles do have some interest in free agent Kevin Millwood, but that nothing is on the immediate horizon.
Furthermore, the Orioles are only willing to sign Millwood to a minor league deal while the veteran right-hander wants a major league contract with an immediate spot on a 25-man roster. We doubt he'll find that anywhere, frankly.

Mon May 2 201116:15Millwood looking for deal this week
According to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, Kevin Millwood "would like to have his situation resolved this week" with a major league team.
Millwood opted out of his minor league contract with the Yankees on Sunday after posting a 4.50 ERA in three starts between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Connolly reports that the Orioles have "mild interest" in the 36-year-old right-hander.

Sun May 1 201113:22Kevin Millwood opts out of deal with Yankees
Kevin Millwood has opted out of his minor league contract with the Yankees.
Millwood's results in his first two minor league outings were there, but his velocity was way down and it caught up to him in his third start, when he allowed six runs over two innings. Though his time with the Yankees is over, he should be scooped up relatively quickly by another team.
