Sat Apr 19 201416:27J.B. Shuck blasts leadoff home run in loss
J.B. Shuck blasted a leadoff home run off Max Scherzer in Saturday's loss to the Tigers.
As terrific of a start to the game as it was, it would be the only run that they would scratch across on the afternoon. Shuck, hitting out of the leadoff spot in the lineup, finished the day 1-for-4 and is hitting a disappointing .189/.211/.351 in the early going.

Shuck batted leadoff and came through with three singles. He's hit in each of his first three games after being called up Wednesday, now batting .357 (5-for-14). He should continue to get the majority of the starts in left field during Josh Hamilton's extended absence.

Sat Apr 12 201402:35J.B. Shuck homers in Angels' win
J.B. Shuck hit a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth Friday as the Angels beat the Mets 5-4 in 11 innings.
Shuck's homer was the last of the scoring until Jeurys Familia hit Hank Conger with a pitch with the bases loaded in the 11th, ending the game. Shuck was making his first start after replacing the injured Josh Hamilton on the Angels' roster. He's not going to be good for many more homers -- he hit just two in 437 at-bats last year -- but he should have some AL-only value as a starter against right-handers while Hamilton is out.

Angels recalled OF J.B. Shuck from Triple-A Salk Lake.

Shuck hit .293/.331/.366 in 437 at-bats with the Angels last season and was batting .375 in five games with Triple-A this year. He'll likely start against most right-handers and Collin Cowgill will presumably start against left-handers.

Sat Sep 28 201310:36Shuck remains out of Angels lineup Saturday
J.B. Shuck (ankle) once again is not in the Angels starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers.
Shuck sprained his right ankle in Thursday's game, and while the injury isn't serious it has cost him a pair of games over the final weekend of the season. All signs point to him returning for Sunday's season finale. Collin Cowgill will get the start in left field and hit second for the Halos on Saturday.

Thu Aug 29 201318:23J.B. Shuck has nice day at the dish
J.B. Shuck went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's victory over the Rays.
There were only nine hits compiled between the two teams, but Shuck and Luis Jimenez had two apiece. The former Astro has been surprisingly solid for the Halos this season, batting .296/.332/.377. However, with little power (two homers) or speed (five steals) to speak of, he's not anything more than a deep AL-only play.

Sat Aug 10 201323:06Shuck drives in two runs, Angels top Indians
J.B. Shuck went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the Angels' 7-2 win over the Indians on Saturday.
Shuck singled and doubled in the game, but both his runs batted in came on sacrifice flies. He was supposed to be a part-time player, but the outfielder has forced his way into an everyday role in Peter Bourjos' absence with his play. The 26-year-old is hitting .293 with a .334 on-base percentage in 89 games with the Angels this year.

Wed Jun 26 201300:02Shuck's four RBI lead Angels over Tigers 14-8
J.B. Shuck went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBI in the Angels' 14-8 win over the Tigers on Tuesday.
Shuck's time with the Angels wasn't supposed to last long, but the outfielder is now hitting .301 with a .354 on-base percentage in 52 games. He's been good enough that he was tapped to hit leadoff ahead of Mike Trout on Tuesday, and he responded by driving in a career-high four runs -- he'd driven in just five the entire month of June prior to the game. Ride the streak while it lasts in AL-only leagues, but there's likely not a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow for the 26-year-old.
