Earl Watson is "unlikely to be ready for camp," according to beat writer David Locke.

Watson said in early September that there was a possibility he wouldn't be ready when training camp started, so this was expected. He had surgery to repair his meniscus in April, so he should be ready for the start of the season as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks.

Watson played well enough to put Devin Harris on the bench late, and while Ty Corbin didn't say why we'd venture to think that it wasn't just the solid performance that put Watson in the game late. He has a running feud with DeMarcus Cousins, and it's possible that Corbin thought Watson could get under the temperamental big man's skin. Watson had alluded to wanting to fight Cousins last week. Fun stuff.

Now that Watson (ankle) is feeling back to normal, his demotion didn't last long. As long as Devin Harris is healthy and playing well, Watson won't have a chance at establishing consistent value in standard-sized leagues.
