Thu Sep 27 201210:28Earl Watson unlikely to be ready for camp?
Earl Watson is "unlikely to be ready for camp," according to beat writer David Locke.
Watson said in early September that there was a possibility he wouldn't be ready when training camp started, so this was expected. He had surgery to repair his meniscus in April, so he should be ready for the start of the season as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks.

Thu Sep 6 201217:18Earl Watson (knee) iffy for training camp
Earl Watson (knee surgery) acknowledged on Thursday that he may not be ready to play when training camp begins.
Watson said his rehab is going well, but right now his status for opening night seems uncertain. Watson will battle veteran Jamaal Tinsley for backup PG minutes behind Mo Williams this season, a second-string timeshare that fantasy owners should avoid.

Mon Jul 23 201208:58Earl Watson progressing from knee surgery
Earl Watson (knee surgery) is expected to begin the second stage of his rehab process in August.
Watson began jogging in mid-July, and the veteran is "tentatively eyeing a clean start when training camp begins." The backup point guard had surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus in April, so as long as there are no setbacks, he should be good to go for the start of the 2012-13 season.

Wed May 30 201215:20Earl Watson (knee) probable for training camp
Earl Watson (left knee surgery) hopes to resume basketball-related activities in July, and is expected to be ready for training camp.
Watson is owed a reasonable $2 million in the final year of his contract, and provides solid veteran PG depth behind Devin Harris. The Jazz also have a team option to bring back Jamaal Tinsley for just $1.4 million, which they will likely exercise.

Mon Apr 9 201221:03Watson suffers torn mensicus; needs surgery
An MRI taken Monday revealed torn medial meniscus within Earl Watson's injured right knee, and he will require surgery and be out indefinitely.
This moves Jamaal Tinsley into the backup PG role, which is more of a timeshare role than it is on other squads. If Devin Harris falters at all or gets injured, Tinsley could be back on the fantasy radar.

Mon Apr 9 201210:38Earl Watson 'can't even walk'
Earl Watson (knee) said he "can't even walk" following Sunday's loss to the Spurs.
Watson is almost certainly out of Monday's rematch with San Antonio. It means more minutes for Devin Harris as the starter and Jamaal Tinsley as the primary backup.

Sun Apr 8 201222:26Earl Watson leaves with knee injury
Earl Watson left Sunday's game with a knee injury after five minutes and didn't return.
That leaves Jamaal Tinsley to back up a suddenly hot Devin Harris in Utah. Tinsley had eight points and four assists in 14 minutes tonight.

Wed Apr 4 201212:58Watson would start if Devin Harris can't play
Earl Watson would "likely" start at point guard if Devin Harris (ankle) is forced to sit out on Wednesday.
Watson has started just one game this season and logged three points, seven assists and a steal back on March 10. Harris wasn't able to do much in shootaround and is considered a game-time decision.

Tue Apr 3 201201:53Watson held scoreless on Monday
Earl Watson went hitless on five shot attempts on Monday, scoring zero points with one rebound and three assists in 17 minutes.
Lines like these are the reason owners can't fully trust Watson, and even if Harris is announced to be out for a significant amount of time there are reasons not to like him. For what it's worth, we have not yet heard about Harris' status beyond tonight. Jamaal Tinsley put up three points with six assists in 18 minutes, and we're going to call the veteran duo an even timeshare split.

Sat Mar 31 201204:06Watson posts nice line in grudge match
Earl Watson scored nine points on 2-of-4 shooting with seven rebounds, seven assists, and one steal in 28 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Kings.
Watson played well enough to put Devin Harris on the bench late, and while Ty Corbin didn't say why we'd venture to think that it wasn't just the solid performance that put Watson in the game late. He has a running feud with DeMarcus Cousins, and it's possible that Corbin thought Watson could get under the temperamental big man's skin. Watson had alluded to wanting to fight Cousins last week. Fun stuff.

Wed Mar 28 201211:19Earl Watson to resume backup PG role
Earl Watson will resume his backup point guard duties ahead of Jamaal Tinsley.
Now that Watson (ankle) is feeling back to normal, his demotion didn't last long. As long as Devin Harris is healthy and playing well, Watson won't have a chance at establishing consistent value in standard-sized leagues.

Sun Mar 25 201211:15Earl Watson no longer Utah's backup PG
Earl Watson was scoreless in two minutes during his return to action on Friday, and Jamaal Tinsley has overtaken him as Utah's backup PG.
Watson feels he should be the primary backup but he's staying professional about the situation, especially while his team is riding a six-game win streak.

Fri Mar 23 201222:48Watson (ankle) to dress but not play
Earl Watson (ankle) will dress for Friday's game but he is unlikely to play.
"(Watson) thinks he can go," coach Tyrone Corbin said. "We can afford to be a little more careful with him. We want to make sure as much as we can that he's 100 percent." Jamaal Tinsley will pick up timeshare duties with starter Devin Harris.

Thu Mar 22 201214:00Earl Watson unlikely to play on Thursday
Earl Watson (ankle) is "unlikely to play" on Thursday against the Kings.
This means more backup minutes for Jamaal Tinsley behind Devin Harris. The Jazz won't rush Watson back before he's ready to return, but he'll resume his role behind Harris when he does.

Thu Mar 22 201200:04Earl Watson more likely to return Friday
Earl Watson (sprained left ankle) is a game-time decision vs. the Kings on Thursday, but he said he's more likely to return on Friday.
Understandably, Watson doesn't want to play an away/home back-to-back set while he's still recovering, especially with another back-to-back set looming on Sunday and Monday. His return will dent Devin Harris' playing time and send Jamaal Tinsley back into DNP-CD territory.
