Lobstein allowed four runs on 10 hits, walking one and striking out two over 7.1 innings of a 4-1 loss to the Royals Friday night.
Lobstein (2-2, 3.91 ERA) provided a respectable outing, but again struggled in the opening frame. After retiring the first two hitters, he gave up a pair of singles, a two-run double, another run scoring single and a walk before closing out the inning. He has now been scored upon in the first inning in three of four starts.

Lobstein struck out three and walked four while holding the Yankees to one run on three hits over six innings in a losing effort Tuesday.
While his control was shaky Tuesday, Lobstein managed to work his way out of any major damage against a strong Yankees lineup. Lobstein will have an opportunity to stay in the Tigers' rotation until Justin Verlander (triceps) is ready to return from the DL. In his next start Sunday, Lobstein will face Cleveland at Comerica Park.
Fri Apr 17 201512:57Lobstein will start Tuesday's game against Yankees
Lobstein will start Tuesday's game against the Yankees, George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press reports.
With Justin Verlander (triceps) needing more time to recover, Lobstein has been confirmed as the Tuesday starter. Given that Verlander seems to have suffered a minor setback, Lobstein may even get another start Sunday against the Indians. The two-start week can't be counted on, but it's at least a possibility.
Wed Apr 15 201512:03Lobstein will not make start this weekend
Lobstein will not make a start this weekend, but will be an option to start Tuesday if Justin Verlander (triceps) is unable to take the ball in that game, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
He was originally thought to be slated to take the ball Saturday, but the Tigers have an off day this week so they can work with a four-man rotation to buy some time in case Verlander is able to join the rotation next week. Verlander will throw a sim game Wednesday, which could be his final hurdle before making his 2015 debut Tuesday. If that happens, Lobstein's run in the Tigers' rotation would come to an end, for now.
Wed Apr 8 201510:08Lobstein recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday
Lobstein was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, MLive.com's James Schmehl reports.
With the Tigers determined Justin Verlander (triceps) would not be healthy enough to start the team's fifth game of the season Sunday against the Twins, Lobstein will tentatively step in to fill that spot in the rotation. Despite placing Verlander on the DL, it doesn't sound like the Tigers are concerned just yet that the right-hander will have to miss more than one start, so Lobstein's stay with the big club could be brief. Lobstein made seven appearances (six starts) with the Tigers last season, producing a 4.35 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 39.1 innings.

Lobstein could be summoned from Triple-A Toledo if Justin Verlander (triceps) isn't ready to be activated from the disabled list as planned for an April 12 start against Cleveland.
Over four Grapefruit League appearances (three starts), Lobstein gave up four runs on nine hits over 10 innings while carrying a 7:6 K:BB. Last season, Lobstein racked up a 127:42 K:BB over 146 innings with just 10 homers allowed (4.07 ERA) as a member of the Mud Hens' rotation.
Tue Mar 24 201514:58Lobstein optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday
Lobstein was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
As expected, Lobstein will open his season in the minors, but he should be one of the top options if the Tigers need a fill-in starter.

Lobstein will open 2015 at Triple-A Toledo barring an injury to one of the Tigers' current projected starters, the Detroit Free Press reports.
One other factor to consider is the possible addition of James Shields via free agency, which would effectively bump Shane Greene or Alfredo Simon from the rotation and give the Tigers a more established veteran arm to handle the "sixth starter" role. This spring, Lobstein is focusing on his curveball, which he'll use to complement his three fastball offerings (two-seamer, four-seamer, and cutter).

Lobstein lost Monday against the White Sox as he pitched seven innings and allowed two runs, five hits and one walk to go along with five strikeouts.
Lobstein didn't get any run support Monday as he pitched well enough to earn a victory. He has a solid 3.38 ERA and 1.15 WHIP, but he doesn't provide a ton of strikeouts as he has 23 in 34.2 innings this season.
Wed Sep 17 201418:07Lobstein will be bumped from scheduled weekend start
Lobstein will be bumped from his scheduled weekend start vs. the Royals and make his next turn Monday vs. the White Sox, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports.
With the Tigers trying to stave off the Royals for the AL Central crown, manager Brad Ausmus will look to maximize the usage of his top four starters. Thanks to an off day in the schedule Thursday, Rick Porcello will be able to stay on his normal rest and take the ball Sunday for his second start of the week.

Lobstein will remain in the Tigers' rotation and make his next start Saturday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
A team off day Thursday would have given the Tigers an opportunity to shuffle their rotation, but it appears they will keep everyone on schedule at least another time through. Lobstein will take on the Indians on Saturday -- the same time he recorded 10 strikeouts against Sept. 2.

Lobstein turned in a solid 5.2 innings Sunday night against the Giants, allowing just one earned run on four hits and a couple of walks while striking out three en route to his first Major League victory.
After a 10-strikeout performance versus the Indians last time out, Lobstein came back down to Earth a bit in this outing. However, this effort was obviously quite strong as well and delivered a milestone for the young lefty. Now four starts into his MLB career, Lobstein has put together an impressive 2.78 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 22.2 innings.

Lobstein surrendered two runs on five hits while striking out 10 and walking three over 5.1 innings in a no-decision against the Indians on Tuesday.
The 10 whiffs were a nice way to make his case for remaining in the Tigers rotation beyond this start. If he does see another turn on the bump for Detroit, Lobstein would likely take the ball against San Francisco on Sunday or the Royals on Monday.
Mon Sep 1 201419:06Lobstein will be recalled to start Tuesday against Indians
Lobstein will be recalled to start Tuesday against the Indians, MLB.com reports.
Manager Brad Ausmus said that if Lobstein pitches well, he will likely remain in the rotation with left-hander Kyle Ryan slated to join the bullpen upon his return to the club. Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) remains without a timetable to resume throwing. Lobstein held the Yankees to two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout over six inning in his first career start last Thursday, after posting a 4.07 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 26 appearances (25 starts) with Triple-A Toledo.

Lobstein was very good in his second career start Thursday against New York, going six strong innings surrendering just one run on four hits and walk.
Lobstein failed to record a strikeout, but kept the Tigers in the game as they went on to win it in walk-off fashion.
Wed Aug 27 201416:09Lobstein will take mound Thursday against Yankees
Lobstein will take the mound Thursday against the Yankees, Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York reports.
In his major league debut Saturday, Lobstein gave up three runs on four hits and four walks to go with three strikeouts in 5.2 innings. At the very least, he should uphold his strikeout potential, as he posted a 7.83 K/9 at Triple-A Toledo this season.
Sat Aug 23 201400:34Lobstein recalled by Tigers
Lobstein has been recalled by the Tigers, Matthew Mowery of the Oakland Press reports.
Robbie Ray lasted just 1.1 innings in his start Friday night, taxing the Detroit bullpen in the process and creating the need for a fresh arm. Lobstein has delivered a 4.07 ERA and 1.479 WHIP over 26 appearances (25 starts) at Toledo this season.
Sat Mar 22 201417:10Kyle Lobstein gives up five runs
Kyle Lobstein was tagged for five runs in three innings by the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Lobstein and Jose Alvarez were supposed to be the Tigers' primary rotation alternatives at the beginning of the year. Now that Alvarez is gone to Anaheim, it'll almost definitely fall to Lobstein to start if any of Detroit's starters get hurt. He has a 7.11 ERA this spring, though his 13/4 K/BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings is pretty good.

Sat Mar 1 201416:34Kyle Lobstein goes three scoreless for Tigers
Kyle Lobstein pitched three hitless innings and struck out four Saturday against the Astros.
The Tigers have their five starters, but No. 6 is in doubt, with Jose Alvarez likely entering camp as the leader. Lobstein, a Rule 5 pick from the Rays a year ago whose rights were acquired after he failed to make the team, is another possibility to make some spot starts for the Tigers this year. He's not viewed as having much upside, but he had a 3.27 ERA and a 148/52 K/BB in 167 2/3 innings in Triple-A last year.

Wed Nov 20 201312:24Tigers add RHP Lobstein to 40-man roster
Tigers purchased the contract of LHP Kyle Lobstein from Triple-A Toledo.
Lobstein was removed from the Tigers' 40-man roster before the start of the season, but now he's back on. The 24-year-old put up a 3.27 ERA and 148/52 K/BB ratio over 167 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A this year.
