Thu May 8 201415:38Kevin Correia pulled in fifth against Tribe
Kevin Correia yielded four runs in 4 1/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Indians.
Correia gave up two homers among the eight hits he allowed and also walked four, so his ERA could have taken a much bigger hit. As is, he's sitting at 6.34 after seven starts. The Twins should move on, but since Correia was strong in his previous outing against the Orioles, he'll probably get one more start before his status is reevaluated.

Sat May 3 201417:31Correia goes seven strong innings in victory
Kevin Correia spun seven innings of one-run ball in a 6-1 win over the Orioles on Saturday.
It was easily his best start of the year. Correia held the O's to five hits and no walks and the lone run scored on an RBI single from J.J. Hardy in the second inning. He retired 13 out of the final 14 batters he faced before giving way to the bullpen. Even with the excellent outing, the 33-year-old has a 6.09 ERA through six starts this season. He'll attempt to keep chipping away at that ERA with a tough assignment against the Red Sox next week.

Fri Apr 25 201423:44Correia gives up seven runs in loss to Tigers
Kevin Correia was obliterated in Friday's loss to the Tigers, surrendering seven runs on eight hits in just 2 1/3 innings.
Correia also issued a pair of free passes and didn't record a strikeout. Nick Castellanos tagged him for a two-run homer in the second inning to begin the scoring, then the Tigers hung six more runs on him while chasing him from the game in the third inning. The veteran right-hander will carry a highly disappointing 7.33 ERA and 1.67 WHIP into Thursday's matchup against the Dodgers in Minnesota. He shouldn't be started in any fantasy leagues at this point.

Sat Apr 19 201417:58Kevin Correia loses to Royals
Kevin Correia gave up five runs -- four earned -- in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Royals.
Correia and Mike Pelfrey are fighting it out for the honor of being first bumped from the Minnesota rotation. It'd be nice to see the Twins go to someone with a little more upside, whether it's Samuel Deduno or Triple-A Rochester's Kris Johnson. Prospect Alex Meyer could be a factor, too, though probably not for another six weeks or so. Correia is currently 0-2 with a 5.47 ERA.

Sun Apr 13 201417:07Correia falls apart in eighth inning Sunday
Kevin Correia allowed three runs over seven-plus innings in taking a no-decision against the Royals on Sunday.
Correia was strong for most of the day, throwing seven shutout innings before allowing three runs without recording an out in the eighth. The big inning blew his chance of picking up his first win of the year, and he'll continue to search for it in a rematch with the Royals next weekend.

Mon Apr 7 201421:18Kevin Correia knocked around by A's
Kevin Correia was lit up for six runs over 5 2/3 innings in Monday's loss to the Athletics.
He yielded nine hits -- including a home run -- while walking two and striking out three. Correia posted a quality start last week in Chicago, but as rarely as he misses bats he's going to be vulnerable when his stuff isn't spot-on. The veteran right-hander will try to get back on track this weekend against the Royals.

Wed Mar 12 201417:19Kevin Correra allows four runs in loss
Kevin Correia yielded four runs and seven hits in three innings versus Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Pedro Alvarez hit a two-run homer off him. If the Twins had succeeded in their bid for Ervin Santana, they could have made Correia available in trade talks. As is, it looks like he'll be back in their rotation as the third or fourth starter. He's a poor bet in AL-only leagues.

Wed Sep 25 201323:23Correia goes seven strong in final start
Kevin Correia allowed just one run over seven innings but the Twins fell to the Tigers on Wednesday.
Correia got zero support from the Minnesota offense, which was foiled all night by Detroit starter Max Scherzer. Correia struck out one and walked none. He'll finish the 2013 regular season with a 9-13 record, 4.18 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 101/45 K/BB ratio in 185 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old right-hander is under contract with the Twins for $5.5 million in 2014.

Fri Sep 20 201301:56Correia goes five innings in no-decision
Kevin Correia yielded two runs over five innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Athletics.
Correia allowed six hits and five walks while throwing just 53 out of 101 pitches for strikes, so things could have been much worse. It was his shortest start since August 5. He'll bring a 4.29 ERA into a tough matchup against the Tigers next week. Don't trust him as a fantasy option.

Fri Sep 13 201323:06Correia posts quality start in loss to Rays
Kevin Correia delivered a quality start in Friday's loss to the Rays, allowing three runs on eight hits over his six-plus frames.
Correia racked up five strikeouts on the evening while issuing just one free pass. The Rays never mounted a serious rally against him, instead striking for single runs in the second, third and seventh innings. While he hasn't been tremendous, Correia has at least logged some quality innings for the Twins this season, registering a 4.31 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 99/40 K/BB ratio over 173 1/3 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column when he takes on the Athletics in Oakland on Thursday.

Sat Sep 7 201322:49Correia hammered for five runs in loss to TOR
Kevin Correia was hammered for five runs in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
Correia was coming off two straight dominant efforts and couldn't continue that roll. Toronto tagged him for seven hits -- including home runs by Adam Lind and Brett Lawrie -- and then continued the pounding against the Minnesota bullpen. Correia has a 4.30 ERA and 1.41 WHIP.

Sun Sep 1 201318:11Correia fires seven innings of one-run ball
Kevin Correia hurled seven innings of one-run ball Sunday in a victory over the Rangers.
He struck out only two, but held Texas to five hits and one walk. Correia was impeccable outside of Mitch Moreland's leadoff homer in the third. The veteran right-hander has pitched at least 6 2/3 innings in each of his last five starts, allowing just seven earned runs in those 35 innings. Correia hopes to stay hot next weekend against the Blue Jays.

Wed Aug 28 201300:50Correia takes no-decision despite dominance
Kevin Correia shut out the Royals for seven innings but settled for a no-decision in the Twins' loss on Tuesday.
Correia was matched pitch-for-pitch by Royals starter James Shields, but the Royals finally got the better of the matchup after Correia's exit. In his seven innings, the right-hander gave up six hits and two walks while striking out seven. Correia has gotten stronger as the season has progressed, too -- he's now thrown at least 6 2/3 innings in each of his last four starts, allowing just six earned runs in those 28 innings. He's got a very tough matchup looming against the Rangers in Arlington on Sunday.

Wed Aug 21 201323:45Correia stumbles late as Twins fall to Tigers
Kevin Correia allowed four runs -- two earned -- over 6 2/3 innings to suffer the loss against the Tigers on Wednesday.
It was a particularly painful way for Correia to lose, as he got Prince Fielder to swing at strike three to end the inning but the ball got away from catcher Ryan Doumit, allowing a run to score and letting Fielder to take first base. The next batter, Victor Martinez, doubled in another run, ending Correia's otherwise decent night. Alas, Correia fell to 8-10 and owns a 4.52 ERA heading into his Tuesday start against the Royals.

Sat Aug 17 201300:25Correia goes seven-pluss in loss to ChiSox
Kevin Correia yielded five runs (four earned) over 7 1/3 innings in a loss to the White Sox on Friday.
Correia pitched into the eighth inning for the first time since April 28, but it still resulted in his ninth loss. He allowed nine hits (including two solo homers) and one walk while striking out three. Giving Correia a two-year, $10 million contract over the winter was a curious decision on the day the deal was signed and his 4.61 ERA through 24 starts has done little to sway the critics. He's not to be trusted in fantasy leagues, especially with a start against the Tigers up next.

Sun Aug 11 201317:55Correia fires seven innings of shutout ball
Kevin Correia fired seven innings of shutout ball in Sunday's win against the White Sox.
He scattered five hits, struck out seven and walked one, quite the rebound performance after Correia was lit up for six runs in two innings by the Royals on Monday. Joe Mauer cited Correia's changeup and curveball as reasons for the right-hander's success against Chicago's offense in an interview after the game. Minnesota's All-Star catcher knows as well as the rest of us that Correia's minimal offerings force him to be near perfect in order to enjoy success against major league lineups. Correia (8-8, 4.59 ERA) was that this afternoon, but we'd never wager on him duplicating the act.

Mon Aug 5 201323:19Kevin Correia gets roughed up by Royals
Kevin Correia was lit up for six runs in two innings by the Royals on Monday.
It's the second time in three starts that Correia has given up six runs while getting no more than six outs. The Twins don't have anyone they want to move into the rotation at the moment, so they'll likely stick with their veteran. Obviously, he's entirely without fantasy value.

Fri Jul 26 201301:17Kevin Correia gives up six runs in loss
Kevin Correia was smoked for six runs over 1 2/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Mariners.
It was his shortest outing of the season. He gave up all six runs in the second inning before being pulled. Correia started the season hot, but he has a 5.60 ERA in 15 starts since the start of May. There's no reason to pay attention to him in fantasy leagues right now.

Sat Jul 20 201322:30Correia holds Indians to two runs over six
Kevin Correia allowed two runs in six innings Saturday in the Twins' 3-2 win against the Indians.
It was a solid outing for Correia against a tough Cleveland offense. He yielded only one walk and struck out three, moving to 7-6 with a 4.17 ERA. The right-hander will face off against the Mariners in Seattle next.

Kevin Correia allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday.
Correia limited the Rays to three runs despite allowing five hits and five walks in his 5 1/3 innings of work. He was aided in part by his six strikeouts. He's 6-6 with a 4.23 ERA in 18 starts at the break.
