Edgin stranded another inherited runner in making his 10th straight scoreless appearance Wednesday.
Edgin has been solid since getting called back up from Triple- A Las Vegas, posting a 1.44 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. He is mainly used against lefties, who are batting just .155 versus him.

Edgin retired all four hitters he faced via strikeout in the Mets' 7-6 loss to the Phillies.
Edgin's solid work resulted in criticism for manager Terry Collins, who left Vic Black in to face Chase Utley with two on and two out in the seventh. Utley tripled to drive in two, cutting the Mets' lead to 6-5 in a game they ultimately lost. Edgin has been very good out of the bullpen this year for the Mets and will continue to be used heavily against lefties.

Mets recalled LHP Josh Edgin from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Edgin will add badly-needed depth to the Mets' bullpen, but effectiveness is another issue. The 27-year-old left-hander owns a rough 4.97 ERA, 2.13 WHIP, and 12/11 K/BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings this season at Triple-A.

Mon Mar 10 201413:25Mets option LHP Edgin to Triple-A
Mets optioned LHP Josh Edgin to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The Mets once had big hopes for Edgin out of their bullpen, but he really struggled this spring and showed diminished velocity. John Lannan or Jack Leathersich could make the Opening Day roster as a second left-hander behind Scott Rice.

Thu Oct 31 201312:25Mets activate Josh Edgin from 60-day DL
Mets activated LHP Josh Edgin from the 60-day disabled list.
Edgin suffered a stress fracture in his rib cage in August and did not return to a mound. The left-hander posted a 3.77 ERA in 28 2/3 innings before the injury and would seem to be a lock for a bullpen spot in 2014.

Tue Sep 24 201314:51Mets transfer LHP Edgin to 60-day DL
Mets transferred LHP Josh Edgin from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot for Jordany Valdespin to be reinstated following his suspension. Edgin suffered a stress fracture in his rib in August, but should be fine for 2014.

Tough break for Edgin, who had a 0.93 ERA in 23 appearances since returning from the minors in June. No word yet on how long he'll be sidelined. The Mets haven't announce a corresponding move.

Mets recalled LHP Josh Edgin from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Edgin was a big disappointment prior to his demotion in late April and wasn't much better in the minors, posting a 6.75 ERA in 16 appearances between Double- and Triple-A. Still, the Mets have called him up to replace Robert Carson in the bullpen.

Thu Mar 14 201316:45John Edgin gives up three runs
Josh Edgin surrendered three runs -- two earned -- in 1 2/3 innings out of the pen versus the Tigers on Thursday.
Edgin has allowed seven runs -- four earned -- and 13 hits in 7 2/3 innings this spring. We'd rate him as the Mets' best lefty reliever, but since he's having a tough time this spring and the Mets have several veterans in camp, it's possible Edgin will be sent down for the first few weeks.

Thu Sep 20 201216:11Mets to shut down Edgin after one more outing
The Mets plan to shut down left-handed reliever Josh Edgin after one more appearance in 2012.
Edgin is being shut down purely due to workload. He has thrown 69 innings between the minors and majors this season. Over 25 2/3 innings with the big club, Edgin has a 3.86 ERA to go along with 30 punch-outs.

Sun Apr 1 201216:37Mets option Edgin to Double-A Binghamton
Mets optioned LHP Josh Edgin to Double-A Binghamton.
Edgin made a valiant effort to make New York's Opening Day roster, hurling 10 1/3 innings of scoreless relief this spring. Even with Tim Byrdak (knee) likely to begin the season on the DL, the Mets opted to give Edgin more seasoning in the minors before they relied on him in Queens. Edgin will be Binghamton's closer to begin the year. Expect to see him up with the Mets sometime over the summer.
