Solis allowed a three runs in his last two outings, spanning just 1.1 innings. His poor performance on the mound and the addition of Jonathan Papelbon likely both contributed to his demotion. He'll now join Triple-A Syracuse, but likely remains one of the favorites to rejoin the club should an injury occur in the bullpen.

Solis was recalled from Double-A Harrisburg on Friday.

The move comes as a response to David Carpenter being placed on the 15-day DL with inflammation in his right shoulder. Solis, who was recalled for five days prior to the All-Star break, has appeared in six games for the Nats this season, posting a 4.50 ERA across 10.0 innings of relief.

Solis was optioned to Double-A Harrisburg on Saturday.

A July 6 call-up for Solis resulted in one appearance, a scoreless frame in a low-leverage situation against the Reds. With the Nationals reinstating Jordan Zimmerman from the paternity list ahead of Saturday's game, Solis will head back down to Double-A, where he has a 6.75 ERA with an 11:5 K:BB ratio over 13.1 innings of work.

Solis was recalled from Double-A Harrisburg on Monday.

Solis has spent much of this season toiling in Double-A, struggling in 11 appearances for the club, but has seen action for the Nationals. In nine innings for the Nationals, he holds a 5.00 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP while in 13.1 innings for Double-A Harrisburg, he holds a 6.75 ERA and a 1.80 WHIP. He should be a short-term replacement for David Carpenter, who went on the paternity list.

Solis (shoulder) was activated from the DL and optioned to Double-A Harrisburg on Thursday.

It has been a slow road to recovery from Tommy John surgery for Solis, who pitched just 18.1 innings in the minors in 2014. Presumably in an effort to monitor his innings, 10 of his 11 appearances this season were as a reliever. His prospect status has faded significantly, but that could change if he can get back on track as a starter with Harrisburg.

Solis (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Harrisburg on Sunday, James Wagner of the Washington Post reports.

Solis has been taking the rehab process slowly for the most part, as this represents one of the first major steps in his recovery. However, a timetable for his return to the Nationals remains unclear at this point.

While he has only two strikeouts in six innings of work so far to begin his big league career, Solis hasn't walked anyone and has yet to be scored upon. Long relievers like Craig Stammen have been able to produce some value in deeper leagues in the Nats' bullpen, and Solis looks to be inheriting a similar role.

Solis tossed three shutout innings of relief after Stephen Strasburg exited Tuesday's game with shoulder irritation, allowing just one hit and striking out one.

He's been sharp in two appearances since being called up, and with Tanner Roark still being used in shorter stints, Solis might just get the nod in the rotation if Strasburg is forced to miss any time.
