Tue Oct 28 201416:11Guthrie will start Game 7 of World Series on Wednesday
Guthrie will start Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday, if the Royals manage to extend the series with a win Tuesday, Newsday's Erik Boland reports.
Guthrie has fared reasonably well in his two postseason starts to this point, with seven hits and three earned runs allowed over 10 innings, though he has managed just two strikeouts. If the Royals manage to stay alive with a win Tuesday, it will likely be Guthrie versus Tim Hudson in the deciding Game 7.
Mon Oct 13 201416:59Guthrie will pitch Game 3 of ALCS on Tuesday
Guthrie will pitch Game 3 of the ALCS on Tuesday, the Kansas City Star's Andy McCullough reports.
Game 3 was postponed Monday, but Guthrie will still take the ball Tuesday. The Royals now have the option to pitch James Shields in Game 4, or give him an extra day off and give Jason Vargas the ball Wednesday.
Sat Oct 11 201413:34Guthrie will start Game 3 of ALCS against Orioles on Monday
Guthrie will start Game 3 of the ALCS against the Orioles on Monday, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports.
Although Guthrie finished the regular season with an uninspiring 4.13 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, he's had success in his career against some of the Orioles' top hitters, namely Adam Jones (1-for-12) and Nelson Cruz (.602 OPS). He's expected to oppose lefty Wei-Yin Chen, though Chen will be available in an emergency Saturday.
Thu Oct 2 201418:47Guthrie likely to start Game 4 of ALDS for Royals
Guthrie is likely to start Game 4 of the ALDS for the Royals, should the series get that far, Josh Vernier of FOX Sports Kansas City reports.
Guthrie's overall numbers this season are rather unsightly (4.13 ERA, 1.30 WHIP), but he finished strong, with just one earned run allowed in his final three starts (20.1 innings). He'll get the nod in Game 4, unless one team sweeps the series, likely starting opposite Jered Weaver. Danny Duffy will serve as the long man.

Guthrie (13-11) pitched seven shutout innings on four hits against the White Sox Friday night, while striking out six hitters and netting the win.
It was perfect timing for Guthrie as he helped secure a playoff spot for the Royals with the win. Guthrie has rebounded nicely since his September 8 outing where he gave up eight runs in 2.2 innings pitched. He kept hitters off balance all night, only allowing one base runner to reach second base. Guthrie was removed from the game after the seventh inning after 93 pitches.

Guthrie gave up five hits and two runs (with two strikeouts and two walks) in 5.1 innings against Detroit on Sunday.
It wasn't pretty, but Guthrie did enough to help Kansas City grab a crucial win. Guthrie will take a 4.28 ERA and 1.32 WHIP into Friday's scheduled road assignment against the White Sox.

Guthrie struggled mightily Monday afternoon, allowing eight runssix earnedin just 2.2 innings against the Tigers.
The veteran allowed 10 hits and struck out just one in what was the shortest outing of his season. Guthrie will now carry a 4.54 ERA into what should be an easier assignment when he makes his next start this weekend against the Red Sox.

Guthrie gave up just one run on eight hits and zero walks in seven innings Tuesday against the Rangers.
He pitched Derek Holland even over seven frames, so he received a no-decision. The only other point of content from a fantasy standpoint was that Guthrie only recorded one strikeout on the night, but that's nitpicking when a pitcher with a 4.31 ERA gives up just one run in seven innings. He'll have a tougher test in his next start Monday in Detroit.

Guthrie struggled against Minnesota on Thursday, surrendering five runs and nine hits in six innings. He needed 103 pitches, striking out five.
Guthrie gave up a couple of runs in the first inning, and never really got into a groove. He has been extremely up-and-down in his last seven outings, mixing in great starts with clunkers. In his next turn, he'll square off against a Texas team that he dominated over eight innings on August 23.

Guthrie allowed one earned run over eight innings, giving up five hits and a walk while striking out two, to pick up the win against Texas on Saturday.
Guthrie gave up a leadoff home run to Shin-soo Choo in his first pitch of the game, but then proceeded to retire the next 12 batters as he dominated the Rangers over eight innings. It was Guthrie's fifth win in his last six starts. For the season, he has a 4.32 ERA and a 107:42 K:BB ratio.

Guthrie earned the winning decision against Minnesota on Sunday, allowing five hits and four runs with seven strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.
It was a nice bounce-back effort from Guthrie after he was shellacked for 11 hits and six runs (four earned) by Oakland last week. The right-hander has followed up a terrible month of July (10.07 ERA) to post a 3.38 ERA and 21:4 K:BB ratio through four August assignments. Guthrie's next start comes on Saturday in Texas.

Guthrie struck out four and gave up two run on seven hits in a complete game effort against the D-Backs on Thursday night.
The win improved Guthrie's record to 8-9 on the season, as he took advantage of an Arizona lineup that has been thinned out by the non-waiver trade deadline and the loss of Paul Goldschmidt to a broken hand last weekend. Guthrie will have two starts next week, first facing the A's at home Tuesday before a road start at Minnesota on Sunday (August 17).

Guthrie ran his record to 7-9 as he picked up the win on Friday facing the Athletics, allowing no runs on three hits over six innings while striking out six hitters.
Bouncing back from a July 26 disastrous outing, Guthrie's 107-pitch effort was a doozie as he stayed ahead of hitters most of the game while only allowing two walks on the night. Guthrie, who lowered his season ERA to 4.50, next takes the mound on Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
Fri Jul 11 201400:04Guthrie crushed by Tigers offense in a loss
Jeremy Guthrie fell to 5-8 after allowing eight runs in four innings as the Royals were easily defeated by the Tigers on Thursday.
The Tigers' offense is firing on all cylinders, having scored 14 runs on Tuesday and 16 on Thursday. Guthrie was no match for it, allowing eight hits, walking three, and striking out only two in the effort. The right-hander heads into the All-Star break carrying a 4.56 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and a 75/32 K/BB ratio.

Sat Jul 5 201421:59Guthrie hammered for six runs in loss to CLE
Jeremy Guthrie was hammered for six earned runs in four innings Saturday in a loss to the Indians.
It was the worst start in close to two months for Guthrie, who was knocked around for 11 hits and issued two walks. His ERA went from 3.69 all the way to 4.02. Guthrie will try to get back on the right track in his next outing at home against the Tigers.

Tue Jun 24 201400:20Jeremy Guthrie pitches Royals past Dodgers
Jeremy Guthrie allowed two runs over 7 2/3 innings Monday in a defeat of the Dodgers.
Guthrie has rebounded from a five-game losing streak to win three in a row, allowing five runs over 20 innings in the process. We wouldn't go picking him up in mixed leagues, of course, but he's giving the Royals exactly what they need.

Wed Jun 18 201416:25Jeremy Guthrie holds Tigers to one run in win
Jeremy Guthrie limited the Tigers to one run in 6 2/3 innings in a victory Wednesday.
Incredibly, he struck out nine for the second straight start. Prior to last week, he had just six nine-strikeout games in 229 career starts. Perhaps more incredibly, Guthrie also committed his sixth error of the season in the game. That's three more than any other pitcher in MLB and two more than any pitcher had during the entire 2013 season. The last pitcher to have more than six in a season was Matt Garza, who committed seven in 2011.

Fri Jun 13 201423:53Jeremy Guthrie whiffs nine White Sox in win
Jeremy Guthrie pitched well on Friday, whiffing nine White Sox over 5 2/3 innings en route to his third victory of the season.
The veteran right-hander allowed two runs on six hits and four walks on the evening. He danced in and out of trouble throughout the night, but was able to make big pitches in the most critical situations. He now owns a 4.04 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 50/24 K/BB ratio on the season. He's nothing more than a matchup play in mixed leagues, and should be avoided for Wednesday's matchup against the Tigers in Detroit.

Sat Jun 7 201400:10Guthrie gives up four runs in loss to Yankees
Jeremy Guthrie gave up four runs over seven innings in a loss to the Yankees on Friday.
Guthrie had allowed four runs in his previous three outings combined. The big blow Friday was a bases-clearing double by Brian McCann in the third inning. The veteran right-hander struck out two and walked one in the loss and now owns a 4.10 ERA through 13 starts this season. He's winless since April 9, but will try to change that when he faces the Indians next week in another start at home.

Tue May 27 201423:50Guthrie saddled with tough-luck loss Tuesday
Jeremy Guthrie allowed one run over six innings of work but took the loss against the Astros on Tuesday.
Guthrie gave up seven hits and walked three, with a Matt Dominguez RBI single as the only damage against him on the evening. The right-hander also struck out five. He's been very good in his last two starts with nothing to show for it, and he's 2-4 with a 4.14 ERA and 1.23 WHIP through 11 starts. He gives the Royals innings but remains a non-entity outside of deep AL-only leagues. His next start will come Sunday at the Blue Jays.
