Sun Jul 3 201110:35Orlando Hudson won't need DL stint
Orlando Hudson (shin) sat out Saturday and could miss at least one more game, but he's not expected to need a trip to the disabled list.
Padres manager Bud Black said Hudson remained "very sore" as a result of fouling a ball off his shin Friday, but it doesn't sound too serious. He should be ready to return to the lineup early this week.

Fri Jul 1 201123:29Hudson day-to-day with shin contusion
Orlando Hudson is day-to-day with a left shin contusion.
It turns out that the injury looked much worse than it really was. We wouldn't count on seeing Hudson back in the lineup Saturday, but the early word is certainly encouraging.

Mon Jun 20 201123:01Hudson lone bright spot for Pads in loss
Orlando Hudson went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in San Diego's 14-5 loss in Boston on Monday.
The home run was Hudson's first of the season. He has now reached base six times in two games since coming off the disabled list on Sunday. If a frustrated owner cut Hudson loose when he went on the DL for the second time in 2011 in late May, he is worth a look if you have a need at second base.

Sat May 28 201112:31Orlando Hudson likely out a while?
Though they haven't divulged the results of an MRI, Padres manager Bud Black said the team's medical staff determined Orlando Hudson's groin ailment "was not going to be a quick-healing injury."
We figured based on how he looked after the injury that it could be a prolonged absence. No clear timetable for his return has been given, but it looks like a longer than minimum stay. Eric Patterson, Alberto Gonzalez and Logan Forsythe will handle second base while O-Dog is out.

Fri May 27 201115:08Orlando Hudson lands back on disabled list
Padres placed 2B Orlando Hudson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.
Hudson missed over two weeks with a strained hamstring earlier this month, and now, just seven games after returning, he's back on the DL with the groin injury. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined. Eric Patterson figures to be the primary beneficiary of more playing time while O-Dog is out, with Alberto Gonzalez and the recently-recalled Logan Forsythe also in the mix.

Wed May 25 201120:42Orlando Hudson leaves with left groin strain
Orlando Hudson left Wednesday's game in the seventh inning with a left groin strain.
We originally figured he aggravated his hamstring injury, but apparently it's a new ailment. There's currently no timetable for his return, but the fact that O-Dog immediately left and gingerly walked to the dugout isn't a good sign.

Tue May 3 201101:14Padres' Hudson swipes 10th base
Orlando Hudson matched his career high by stealing his 10th base Monday against the Pirates.
With a mere 133 games left in the season. Hudson is a perfect 10-for-10 this year, matching his high established in 2007 and duplicated last year. It's a good thing he's running, because he certainly isn't helping fantasy leagues with his .237 average and nine runs scored.

Wed Jan 5 201113:03Padres won't offer arbitration to free agents
According to Corey Brock of MLB.com, the Padres won't offer arbitration to Orlando Hudson, Brad Hawpe or Aaron Harang if the qualify as Type A free agents.
The market for players can be diminished significantly if they are offered arbitration as a Type A free agent, so arrangements like this aren't out of the ordinary anymore. This is still very hypothetical, but the team could still offer arbitration if each player qualifies as a Type B, which would enable them to net a sandwich pick should they sign elsewhere.
