According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Indians have reached a one-year contract with Brett Myers.
The deal includes a club option for 2014. Myers, 32, posted a solid 3.31 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 41/15 K/BB ratio in 65 1/3 innings of relief last year between the Astros and White Sox. He'll return to starting duties with Cleveland and should carry value in mixed fantasy leagues.

Sun Dec 30 201210:24Brett Myers asking for too much?
A National League general manager told Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe that Brett Myers has "been asking for too much money."
"The feeling is he's been asking for too much money," the GM said. "I think teams are waiting for the price to come down. He can certainly help a team. I think a lot of teams have him on a wish list." After spending all of 2012 in the bullpen, Myers is seeking a starting job for 2013. The Padres, Twins and Orioles are among the teams known to have interest in the veteran right-hander.

Sat Dec 29 201208:45Padres talking with free agent Brett Myers
According to Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres have been talking to free agent Brett Myers.
The Padres haven't addressed their rotation outside of re-signing Jason Marquis and trading for Tyson Ross, and are looking at Myers as a starter. He would presumably be used as insurance with Cory Luebke (Tommy John surgery) out until around midseason. Myers has received interest from the Orioles and Twins this offseason. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported last week that the Padres are also among the teams interested in Joe Saunders.

Sun Dec 2 201222:17Report: Orioles interested in Brett Myers
FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Orioles have shown interest in Brett Myers.
Myers posted a 3.31 ERA and 41/15 K/BB ratio in 70 appearances as a reliever last year, but would presumably be used as a starter in Baltimore. In addition to the Orioles, he's been linked to the Twins and Royals this offseason.

Sat Nov 24 201211:51Twins interested in free agent Brett Myers
The Twins are reportedly interested in free agent Brett Myers.
Myers wants to be a starter again, and there's a "growing sense" he could be one of the Twins' primary targets. The 32-year-old posted a 3.31 ERA in 70 appearances between the Astros and White Sox last season and would be an immediate upgrade to Minnesota's starting rotation. "They're interested, perhaps even very interested," agent Craig Landis said. "That's as far as we are right now."

Sat Nov 3 201214:10Myers to market himself as starter, reliever
Brett Myers told Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com that he's willing to market himself as both a starting pitcher and reliever this offseason.
The White Sox considered picking up a $10 million option on Myers and using him as a starter next season, but ultimately decided to re-sign Jake Peavy and Gavin Floyd and let him test the open market. Myers, 32, posted a 3.12 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 35 games with Chicago after coming over from the Astros at the trade deadline.

Tue Oct 30 201218:19White Sox decline Brett Myers' option
White Sox declined RHP Brett Myers' $10 million option for 2013.
The Sox considered the possibility of picking up the option and using Myers as a starter, but after bringing both Jake Peavy and Gavin Floyd back, it didn't make sense. Myers, 32, should hold some appeal on the free agent market as a starter or possibly a closer.

Sun Oct 7 201211:35Brett Myers could be brought back as starter
White Sox general manager Kenny Williams hasn't dismissed the possibility of picking up Brett Myers' $10 million option for 2013 and moving him into the rotation.
The Sox aren't going to pay Myers $10 million to be a setup man, but he might not be a bad investment at that rate for one year as a starter. Of course, they also have a $9.5 million option on Gavin Floyd and have Chris Sale, John Danks, Jose Quintana and Hector Santiago available as rotation options. Myers posted a 3.12 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 35 games with the Sox after coming over from Houston via trade.

Sat Jul 21 201216:15Myers will pitch in pen, not close for ChiSox
White Sox GM Kenny Williams clarified on Saturday that Brett Myers was acquired to solidify the bullpen, but not to pitch in the closer's role.
The organization maintains full confidence in Addison Reed, and he'll continue to operate in that capacity for the time being. Still, if Reed blows a few more opportunities, having another qualified option in the bullpen may prompt at least a discussion about making the switch.

Sat Jul 21 201215:05White Sox acquire Myers from Astros
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports the White Sox have acquired Brett Myers from the Astros.
The Astros are in rebuilding mode, and Myers is the latest veteran to be moved prior to the July 31 trade deadline. His role in Chicago remains to be seen, though Addison Reed figures to maintain his status as closer. Myers has a $10 million club option for 2013 with a $3 million buyout.

Sun Jul 15 201201:19Brett Myers takes loss in 12-inning game
Brett Myers gave up hits to all three Giants he faced in taking a loss in Saturday's 12-inning game.
Myers has given up runs in a mere eight of his 34 appearances to date, but this now makes four losses for him. He hasn't managed a single strikeout in his four appearances this month, and unless he looks really strong over the next couple of weeks, it's hard to imagine there will be much demand for his services at the trade deadline.

Mon Jun 18 201223:23Brett Myers knocked around in non-save chance
Brett Myers was blasted for five runs on eight hits over just 2/3 of an inning in a non-save chance Monday.
Yikes. Myers' ERA went from 1.99 to 3.86, and his WHIP went from 0.84 to 1.16 after tonight's disaster. It's an outing that won't help his trade value, but he should still have ample appeal at the deadline.

Mon Jun 4 201215:29Myers' $10 million option could vest
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Brett Myers' $10 million 2013 option vests if the closer finishes a pre-set amount of games.
That number hasn't been divulged, but Rosenthal believes it's between 40-50. Right now, Myers is on pace to finish 57 games, which should encourage Houston to move him to a club that will use him as a setup man, ala the Francisco Rodriguez trade of last season. The right-handed Myers is 13-for-14 in save opportunities with a 1.86 ERA. He should have considerable trade value at the deadline.

Sat May 19 201222:29Myers gets 10th save as Astros beat Rangers
Brett Myers earned his 10th save of the season in Saturday evening's 6-5 defeat of the Rangers.
Myers struck out Ian Kinsler, allowed a single to Elvis Andrus, then induced a double play ground ball out of Josh Hamilton. The right-hander is now 10-for-11 in save opportunities this season with a 1.93 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. He should have considerable trade value at the deadline.

Fri May 11 201222:21Myers stays perfect, records another save
Brett Myers recorded his ninth save in nine chances, setting down the Pirates in order on Friday.
He's been extremely impressive since transitioning to the closer's role, and is building quite a bit of value on the trade market. Expect Myers to be wearing a new uniform by the end of July.

Fri May 4 201223:22Myers slams door on Cards, picks up save
Brett Myers locked down his seventh save of the season against the Cardinals on Friday, needing just eight pitches to get through the ninth inning.
Myers has been extremely impressive in his role as the Astros closer, now a perfect 7-for-7 in save opportunities with an impressive 1.04 ERA. With so many teams around the league having problems at the back of their bullpens, trade rumors will continue to swirl around Myers until he is inevitably moved. Either way, he has the tools to succeed in the closer's role regardless of what team he's on.

Mon Apr 16 201214:47Luhnow denies report of Myers being shopped
Astros GM Jeff Luhnow told Houston's FOX 26 that there's "nothing to" reports of Brett Myers being shopped.
USA Today's Bob Nightengale tweeted Saturday that the Astros had already made Myers available via trade and were hoping to take advantage of the many teams hampered by early-season closer issues. That kind of talk might be premature here in mid-April, but the 32-year-old right-hander is almost certain to be dealt at some point this season by the rebuilding 'Stros.

Sat Apr 14 201222:01Astros already shopping closer Brett Myers?
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Astros are shopping closer Brett Myers.
With the recent developments concerning Brian Wilson's damaged elbow, it will be interesting to see if the Giants have any interest in Myers. Other teams with a void in their rotation may also be interested in the former starter's services. Fantasy owners who have lost a closer recently may want to speculate on David Carpenter or Wilton Lopez, who would likely be the top candidates to close should Myers get traded.

Fri Mar 9 201216:39Brett Myers struggles again for Astros
Astros closer Brett Myers allowed three runs in an inning Friday versus the Blue Jays.
Myers has yet to have a clean appearance in three trips to the mound, giving up five runs in all. The Astros are pretty much locked into giving him a long look in the ninth inning, but he needs to be better than this.

Tue Feb 28 201209:41Astros announce Brett Myers moving to closer
Astros manager Brad Mills announced Tuesday that Brett Myers will be the team's closer in 2012.
Brandon Lyon has been demoted to a setup role. It's an odd decision given that Myers was one of Houston's most durable and reliable starters in 2011, but the Astros are an organization that needs to get younger all-around and this should clear a rotation spot for an arm with upside (like 21-year-old Jordan Lyles). Myers, 31, posted a 4.46 ERA and 160/57 K/BB ratio in 216 innings last season.
