He reportedly will be healthy enough to throw for scouts in January.Last season, he made 15 starts and compiled a 7-4 record with a 4.13 ERA. Lincecum will report to the Giants' facility in Arizona on Wednesday to begin rehabbing his surgically-repaired hip, John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game reports. He's expected to require five-to-six months of recovery time.
Despite his standing as a two-time Cy Young winner, Lincecum is expected to see limited interest in free agency this winter on the heels of a four-year slide in his production. The 31-year-old could still have a second life as a reliever in the big leagues, but with the hip procedure putting his status in question for spring training, he remains a risky investment for any team.

Lincecum was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Monday.

Thu Sep 3 201512:34Giants' general manager
Giants' general manager, Bobby Evans, announced that Lincecum (hip) will miss the remainder of the season, CSN Bay Area reports.
Lincecum went to see a hip specialist in Colorado who recommended surgery for his ailing hip. Initially it seemed like the Giants placed Lincecum on the disabled list in order to give him a break from the rotation instead of sending him to the minors. Whether or not that is true, Lincecum ended up developing a degenerative hip issue and will miss the rest of the season.

Lincecum (hip) visited with a hip specialist in Colorado on Wednesday and they will determine the pitcher's next course of action Thursday, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Lincecum has battled through a number of injuries throughout the season and it remains to be seen if he'll rejoin the roster again this season. Thursday's plan with Dr. Marc Philippon should shed some light on Lincecum's prognosis for the rest of the year, but even if he does make it back to the mound, it'll be in a low-leverage bullpen role in all likelihood.

Linecum (forearm) has encountered a setback in his recovery from hip and back discomfort, leading him to acknowledge the possibility that he may not pitch again this season, the San Jose Mercury News reports. "I really don't know. I mean, I hope not," said Lincecum. "I can't predict the future. I have good days and bad days. The bad days are outshining the good ones."
Originally placed on the disabled list with a forearm contusion, Lincecum is now bothered by both his hip and back, leaving him unable to throw for the past week. Even if he makes a late-season return, he'll likely be limited to a role in the bullpen. Lincecum will be a free agent after the season.
Wed Aug 26 201520:22Lincecum (forearm)
Lincecum (forearm), along with pitcher Tim Hudson (shoulder), is expected to be activated Sep. 1 or earlier, Andrew Baggarly of the Bay Area News Group reports.
Lincecum or Hudson could be available to pitch as early as Sunday, but manager Bruce Bochy did not provide concrete information regarding who the most likely candidate is.
