Sat Sep 25 202121:39Ranger Suarez Twirls Complete Game Shutout Versus Bucs
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez turned in his best effort of the season on Saturday as he threw a complete-game shutout versus the Pirates. Suarez scattered just four singles and didn't walk a batter while picking up seven strikeouts, needing only 97 pitches to go the distance. The 25-year-old lefty has been excellent in every role for the Phillies this season; he started the season in long relief before climbing the bullpen ranks and even picked up four saves as the closer. The Phillies moved him to the starting rotation and he's been superb as he became a must-start SP for fantasy. Suarez will carry a sparkling 1.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a 98:32 K:BB into a huge game versus the Braves.

Tue Sep 21 202110:03Ranger Suarez Fires Six Solid Innings Despite Loss
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez was the tough-luck loser on Monday night despite tossing six strong innings versus the Orioles. Suarez had a rough first inning as he allowed three straight singles to let in two runs. That was all Baltimore could muster versus Suarez who settled in nicely after that rocky inning. On the night, Suarez needed 102 pitches to complete six innings, picking up five strikeouts along the way, but it wasn't enough to avoid a loss as the Phillies were shut down by John Means and two Baltimore relievers. Suarez will carry a pristine 1.60 ERA and 1.06 WHIP into another soft matchup with the Pirates. He's a must-start fantasy asset in all leagues.

Thu Sep 16 202109:43Ranger Suarez Whiffs Eight Cubs In No-Decision
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez allowed two runs across six innings with eight strikeouts in his latest strong start. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, the bullpen couldn't hold the lead and get Suarez the win, but it was yet another encouraging effort from the 26-year-old lefty. Suarez has simply been brilliant this season, accumulating a 1.50 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP across 80 innings as a starter and reliever. He's averaging more than a strikeout-per-inning thanks to a sturdy 25.4% K-rate, and when batters do hit the ball it's usually on the ground as Suarez has a pristine 60% ground-ball rate. How Suarez is available in any fantasy league is one of life's great mysteries. He should be universally started in his next outing versus the Orioles.

Fri Sep 10 202110:22Ranger Suarez Silences Rockies Over Six Innings
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez allowed one run across six innings with six strikeouts in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Thursday. Unfortunately for Suarez and fantasy managers, the Phillies bullpen couldn't hold the lead, but it was another strong outing from the 25-year-old lefty. Suarez has now made eight starts since transitioning from closer to starter and he's allowed more than one run just once in those eight starts. Looking at just his last four starts, Suarez has allowed three runs total across 23 innings with 25 punchouts as he's established himself as a must-start fantasy option. He'll carry a pristine 1.38 ERA and 1.03 WHIP into another good matchup versus the Cubs on Wednesday.

Mon Aug 30 202110:15Ranger Suarez Collects Win After Another Strong Start
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez allowed just one run across 5 1/3 innings to pick up his sixth win of the season Sunday versus Arizona. Suarez threw 60 of 95 pitches for strikes as he collected five strikeouts on the afternoon. The left-hander continues to impress in whatever role he finds himself in as he's got a 1.48 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP in 67 innings this year as a starter and a reliever. Suarez will look to keep the good times rolling in another soft matchup versus the Marlins in Miami next time out. He should be started in all fantasy leagues for that matchup.

Tue Aug 24 202121:41Ranger Suarez Continues To Thrive In Philly Rotation
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez had another strong start on Tuesday as the converted reliever has been a revelation in the rotation for Philly. Suarez shut down a good Rays lineup for 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on six hits while collecting seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old lefty threw a season-high 99 pitches in what was easily the longest outing of his career. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, Suarez didn't get the offensive support for a win, but it's hard to complain about what Suarez has delivered thus far as he's sporting a 1.46 ERA, and a 1.02 WHIP across 61 2/3 innings. He should be added and started in all leagues ahead of a juicy matchup with the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Thu Aug 19 202109:54Ranger Suarez Struggles With Control In Loss At Arizona
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez allowed three runs on eight hits across 4 2/3 innings to take his fourth loss Wednesday at the Diamondbacks. Suarez came into the game with an elite WHIP thanks to a microscopic walk rate, but his command abandoned him in this one as he walked four in this game. The good news for Suarez is he threw a season-high 86 pitches as the former closer is built up to a normal starter's workload. He's still got good numbers on the season as the three runs he allowed were a season-high in any outing for him this season - as a starter or as a reliever. He should be rostered in 12-team fantasy leagues and larger despite a tough matchup next time out at home versus the Rays.

Thu Aug 12 202116:41Ranger Suarez Turns In Another Strong Start Versus Dodgers
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez allowed one run in 4 1/3 innings with four strikeouts in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Thursday. Suarez allowed three hits and two walks while throwing a season-high 82 pitches as the Phillies continue to build up the pitch count for the former reliever. Across 50 2/3 innings this season as a starter, closer, and long reliever, Suarez has a 1.07 ERA, a 0.87 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts as he's been one of the most valuable arms for manager Joe Girardi. Suarez will eventually give up some runs as he pitches deeper into games, but he's shown enough to be worth a speculative add in all fantasy leagues, especially with a matchup against the punchless Diamondbacks up next.

Tue Aug 3 202108:56Ranger Suarez Efficient In First Start Of Season
Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Ranger Suarez threw three shutout innings with a strikeout and a walk in his first start after being effective in a relief role. Suarez, who posted four saves and a sub-one WHIP as a reliever, needed only 33 pitches to cruise through three innings against a punchless Nationals lineup. Manager Joe Girardi said Suarez would throw "about three innings or 45-50 pitches" and he stuck to his word despite Suarez's effectiveness. On the season, the left-hander has a pristine 1.04 ERA and a 25.7% strikeout rate through 43 1/3 innings. It remains to be seen how he fares once his pitch-count is built up and he sees a batting order a second time, but for now, Suarez is worth a speculative add in fantasy.

Sat Jul 31 202117:28Ranger Suarez To Start Monday For Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Ranger Suarez will transition to the starting rotation beginning on Monday at the Nationals, according to Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Manager Joe Girardi said Suarez will throw about three innings or 45-50 pitches. This is a bummer for fantasy managers as Suarez had emerged as a legitimate closer for Philly. The 25-year-old lefty had four saves since the All-Star break and his 1.12 ERA and 0.87 WHIP were a nice bonus for those who added Suarez. Newly acquired Ian Kennedy is the favorite to take over closer duties, though Hector Neris will also be in the mix. Suarez is droppable in most leagues as he's less valuable in fantasy as a starter.
