Tue Dec 3 201309:22No new news on David Wilson
Coach Tom Coughlin said Monday there's been no update on the future of David Wilson (IR, neck).
The last news on Wilson came a month ago, when he was placed on injured reserve and Coughlin said surgery was not expected to be needed. Doctors are likely being patient and evaluating how the neck is healing. For now, we can only consider Wilson questionable for the 2014 season. Andre Brown has rushed 83 times for 343 yards (4.13 YPC) with three touchdowns since returning from a broken leg four games ago.

Sun Nov 10 201311:05David Wilson (neck) expects to play in 2014
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports doctors have informed David Wilson that he faces increased risk of re-injuring his neck if he plays football again.
Wilson fully expects and intends to play next season. He was placed on injured reserve this past week after he suffered a herniated disk in his neck against the Eagles in Week 5. Wilson is expected to avoid surgery but that's uncertain until he's reevaluated again in "several weeks." Wilson's neck is obviously a long-term concern for the Giants and fantasy owners. We'll be updating him as more information comes to light over the next few months.

Fri Nov 8 201309:49David Wilson not expected to need surgery
Coach Tom Coughlin reiterated that David Wilson (neck) is not expected to need surgery.
"I doubt that," Coughlin said when asked if Wilson would need surgery. "I don't know what to think (long-term) because it's obvious that medically there's no green light. So we're still in a holding pattern, believing that he's going to get better." Wilson will be reevaluated again in "several weeks." He was placed on injured reserve Thursday. The Giants will move forward with a three-man committee made up of Peyton Hillis, Andre Brown, and Brandon Jacobs.

Thu Nov 7 201316:00David Wilson officially stowed away on I.R.
Giants placed RB David Wilson on injured reserve with a herniated disc in his neck, ending his season.
The Giants announced on Monday that Wilson had made "significant improvement," but he wasn't going to improve to the point that he could help in the next two months. ESPN reported Thursday that Wilson is expected to avoid surgery, and make a "full recovery." It's a bitterly disappointing end to what was expected to be a breakout season for the 2012 first-rounder, but Wilson should get every opportunity to claim the Giants' starting job next summer. Still only 22, he remains a strong hold in Dynasty leagues despite his rocky first two seasons.

Thu Nov 7 201313:38David Wilson expected to make 'full recovery'
ESPN's Dan Graziano confirms that David Wilson (neck) is likely to be placed on injured reserve Thursday, but that he's expected to avoid surgery, and make a "full recovery."
It's extremely good news, as season-ending neck issues are among the most serious injuries in football. Wilson still has a number of hurdles to clear, but for now he can be counted on to be 100 percent for next summer's training camp.

Mon Nov 4 201316:22GMen release statement on David Wilson's neck
The Giants released a Monday statement saying David Wilson (neck) has made "significant improvement" with regard to his neck injury.
It sounds like Dr. Robert Watkins has determined Wilson does not need surgery, though that hasn't been confirmed. Wilson has a herniated disc in his neck. "The determination was made that while there has been significant improvement with the herniation, Wilson is still not clear to resume football activities," the Giants' statement reads. "Wilson will undergo another evaluation in several weeks." So the Giants anticipate Wilson missing "several" more weeks, obviously. He's only worth stashing in 14- and 16-team leagues.

Mon Nov 4 201316:04D. Wilson still not cleared for game action
FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports David Wilson's neck has "improved," but he still hasn't been cleared for game action.
Doctors will "continue to monitor" Wilson's progress following Monday's pivotal MRI. We hope to receive more definitive news on Wilson's going-forward availability this week. Despite a slow start to the 2013 season, Wilson maintains a career YPC average of 4.4 with seven all-purpose touchdowns in 21 games played.

Mon Nov 4 201308:12David Wilson to undergo 'pivotal' MRI on neck
A source tells ESPN that David Wilson will undergo a pivotal MRI on his neck this week.
The MRI will determine whether Wilson will be able to play again this season. This scan will be compared to the running back's first scan to see just how much his neck has healed. Given the scary nature of the injury, the Giants have already said they'll exercise caution with Wilson. They're getting Andre Brown (leg) back for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Wed Oct 30 201310:35Reese hints at decision on Wilson coming
GM Jerry Reese said the Giants will "make some decisions" on David Wilson (neck) early next week.
Wilson's herniated disc and spinal stenosis will be re-evaluated by doctors. "I'm not a doctor so I don't want to stand up here and say something is career-threatening," Reese said. "But anytime you have a situation with your neck and your spine, those are some serious things that you need to take into consideration." It sounds like season-ending injured reserve is a possibility.

Tue Oct 29 201311:33David Wilson to be re-evaluated next week
David Wilson (neck) will be re-evaluated by doctors next week.
Wilson has missed the last three weeks with his neck injury. Giants GM Jerry Reese considers him a "day to day" situation. Wilson is without a set timetable to return, but there's a chance he could be cleared to practice when the Giants come out of their bye in Week 10.

Tue Oct 29 201308:34Coughlin has no new info on David Wilson
Coach Tom Coughlin said he has no new information on David Wilson (neck).
Wilson has insisted all along that he feels fine, but doctors are always going to err on the side of caution when it comes to neck injuries. There's no way for anyone to know if he'll be back this season until some more time passes. Meanwhile, Andre Brown (leg) feels 100 percent and is expected to play when the Giants come out of their bye in Week 10. Wilson is only a stash in leagues with deep benches.

Fri Oct 18 201314:20David Wilson out at least 1 more month
David Wilson told reporters Friday he doesn't anticipate any further news on his neck injury "for a month."
Wilson is riding an exercise bike on the side of practices in hopes of a late-season return, and "insists he feels fine." The one-month mark would put Wilson at November 18 -- just ahead of Week 12. Fantasy owners in 12- and 14-team leagues can continue to cling to Wilson as a bench stash, but no one should be counting on the second-year runner helping them get wins anytime soon.

Thu Oct 17 201315:08David Wilson (neck) ruled out for Week 7
David Wilson (neck) has been ruled out for Week 7.
Coach Tom Coughlin admitted Wednesday that Wilson is "in a position where we're going to have to be very careful with this." Brandon Jacobs will get the start against the Vikings, while Michael Cox and Peyton Hillis will scrap for carries behind him. Even after his out-of-nowhere Week 6 outburst, Jacobs is just an RB3.

Tue Oct 15 201308:23David Wilson likely to miss 3-4 more weeks
According to ESPN, David Wilson (neck) is likely to miss at least 3-4 more weeks.
Wilson got good news on Monday as neck specialist Dr. Robert Watkins did not recommend surgery. But that doesn't mean he's cleared to play, so the Giants will let him rest for a few weeks and then re-evaluate the situation. By the time Wilson gets back, Andre Brown (leg) will be eligible to come off PUP. With just 44 carries for 146 yards (3.31 YPC) and one touchdown all so far, it's shaping up as a lost season for the talented second-year back.

Mon Oct 14 201319:39Report: Surgery not recommended to D. Wilson
FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports Dr. Robert Watkins did not recommend surgery for David Wilson (neck).
As Garafolo noted, it's obviously good news. Surgery would almost certainly end Wilson's season. There's still no timetable for Wilson's return, but he did say last Friday that he's "hoping and praying" that he'll receive clearance for Week 7. The more likely scenario is that Wilson misses 2-3 more games. Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox will fill in for as long as Wilson is sidelined.

Fri Oct 11 201318:08David Wilson not giving up hope
David Wilson (neck) said Friday he's still "hoping and praying" that he'll receive clearance for Week 7.
Coach Tom Coughlin expects Wilson to miss 3-4 weeks. Team doctors fear he has a spinal stenosis condition that could require year-ending surgery. Wilson isn't giving up ahead of Monday's visit with Dr. Robert Watkins. "Best case, I'll be back after the second opinion," Wilson said. "That's what I'm hoping and praying for because I feel perfectly fine. It really doesn't make sense to me right now. People say, "Oh, but it's the neck." But I feel like I'm fine. I'm willing to go out there and sacrifice and play with my team. This is what I love. That's my choice."

Fri Oct 11 201317:02Coughlin disputes David Wilson done for year
Speaking Friday, Giants coach Tom Coughlin disputed the notion that David Wilson's neck injury may be season ending.
"That's not the way it was presented to me," Coughlin said. The Giants' coach gave a "vague timeline" on Wilson's return at 3-4 weeks, although none of this really matters until Wilson gets a second opinion on his neck during Monday's visit with specialist Dr. Robert Watkins. Wilson owners should still fear the worst, but keep Wilson rostered until the Watkins results are known.

Fri Oct 11 201315:52Giants RB Wilson may have spinal stenosis
David Wilson told reporters Friday doctors fear he suffers from spinal stenosis, and may miss the season's remainder.
He's got bigger problems than the rest of this year, if the initial diagnosis is true. Wilson will get a second opinion on his neck/spine Monday. Spinal stenosis has been known to shorten NFL careers, like that of former Redskins LT Chris Samuels. The 32nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, Wilson has rushed 115 times for 504 yards (4.4 YPC) and five touchdowns through two NFL seasons. He led the NFL in kickoff return yardage as a rookie last year.
