Sat Oct 20 201213:02Jamaal Tinsley (tooth) game-time on Saturday
Jamaal Tinsley (tooth) will be a game-time decision on Saturday.
Tinsley, who had wisdom teeth removed on Thursday, left Utah's shootaround early. This won't impact his role going forward -- he's locked into a backup-PG timeshare with Earl Watson.

Fri Oct 19 201213:25Jamaal Tinsley (tooth) sent home from Friday
Jamaal Tinsley was sent home from practice on Friday due to lingering soreness from having a wisdom tooth extracted.
Sounds painful, but the concern shouldn't sideline him for very long, and he's a game-time call for Saturday. With Earl Watson on the mend from knee surgery, the Jazz need a healthy Tinsley to back up Mo Williams to begin this year.

Fri Oct 12 201212:57Jamaal Tinsley excused from Friday's game
Jamaal Tinsley (personal) will not play in Friday's preseason game.
Tinsley won't play against the Thunder, but the good news is that he's not dealing with an injury. Training camp invite Chris Quinn should back up Mo Williams for the time being.

Fri Jun 29 201220:41Jazz to exercise option on PG Jamaal Tinsley
The Jazz will exercise their team option on backup PG Jamaal Tinsley.
This gives the Jazz four veteran PGs under contract and that should be the first clue that they're shopping the $8.5 million expiring deal of Devin Harris. Fellow backup Earl Watson is on the hook for $2 million, and the duo of he and Tinsley would fit well behind Mo Williams in a starting role.

Sat Jun 23 201220:17Jazz undecided on Tinsley's team option
The Jazz must decide by June 30 whether they will pick up a $1.4 million team option for Jamaal Tinsley.
"Jamaal is a pure point guard and he can run a team," said GM Kevin O'Connor. "He was valuable for us this season." Utah may well keep Tinsley as insurance behind Devin Harris, but his utility could plummet if the Jazz draft a PG on Thursday.

Sat May 12 201218:17Jazz may bring back Josh Howard, Tinsley
Jazz GM Kevin O'Connor didn't rule out re-signing veterans Josh Howard and Jamaal Tinsley.
"You never commit to anything because you're always trying to improve your team," O'Connor said. "But they didn't do anything to prevent them from coming back, let's put it that way." Howard averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 23 minutes per game, while Tinsley played well in limited minutes (3.7 points, 3.3 assists in 14 minutes per game).

Mon Apr 2 201223:36Tinsley starts second half for Devin Harris
Jamaal Tinsley started the second half for injured Devin Harris (ankle) on Monday.
Tinsley is worth watching for his ability to post decent lines from time-to-time, but we're pretty sure this is just Ty Corbin keeping his bench unit intact. As of right now, Watson is the clear leader in any position battle between the two guards, so Watson is the guy to pick up in deeper formats.

Sun Mar 25 201211:18Jamaal Tinsley now Utah's secondary PG
Jamaal Tinsley has overtaken Earl Watson to become Utah's primary backup PG.
Tinsley is averaging 6.6 points and 4.5 assists in March, while playing 17 minutes per game, and is doing a great job directing the young Jazz second unit. His role could change if Utah's win streak is reversed, but for now he's worth a look in very deep leagues.

Sat Mar 10 201222:50Jamaal Tinsley drops 10 dimes for Jazz
Jamaal Tinsley was relevant for a night with Devin Harris (flu) out on Saturday, notching six points, 10 assists and one steal 23 minutes off Utah's bench.
Tinsley has been surprisingly sharp when forced into action this season, but the playing time isn't there as long as Harris (who is day-to-day) and Earl Watson are both healthy.

Mon Mar 5 201222:30Tinsley (flu) plays 10 minutes vs. Cavs
Jamaal Tinsley (flu) played 10 minutes with Devin Harris (knee) leaving the game early on Monday, scoring six points on 2-of-3 shooting (including two threes) with two rebounds, one assist, and one block.
That's not a bad line for 10 minutes, but with Harris not needing an MRI on his knee we're not hopeful for Tinsley's fantasy prospects. He needs long-term injuries to both Harris and Earl Watson to truly matter.

Fri Mar 2 201213:14Jamaal Tinsley a game-time decision vs. Heat
Jamaal Tinsley (flu) is a game-time decision on Friday.
He may play, he may not. Either way, most owners probably wouldn't have noticed.

Wed Feb 29 201220:04Jamaal Tinsley out with stomach flu
Jamaal Tinsley will miss Wednesday's game due to the stomach flu.
There was also a decent chance he wouldn't have played if healthy.

Tue Feb 14 201201:30Tinsley a DNP-CD on Monday vs. Hornets
Jamaal Tinsley did not play on Monday due to coach's decision.
Tinsley had left the team for personal reasons but is now back with them and riding the pine. Don't be surprised to see him enter the fray at point guard at some point, as he performed well in spot action a few weeks ago. Besides, he may be a better player than Devin Harris, anyway.

Thu Feb 9 201212:04Jamaal Tinsley back at practice on Thursday
Jamaal Tinsley (personal) returned to practice on Thursday.
Tinsley didn't travel with the team for Tuesday's game against the Pacers, but he's back after a "non-emergency" situation with his family has cleared. He'll resume his typical role behind Devin Harris and Earl Watson.

Tue Feb 7 201219:04Tinsley's contract guaranteed by Jazz
Jamaal Tinsley's contract has been guaranteed for the remainder of the season.
Tinsley is the team's third point guard and has played well when Devin Harris and Earl Watson were unavailable. But as long as they're both healthy, Tinsley is clearly the third option. He's also sitting out Tuesday's game at Indiana for personal reasons.

Mon Feb 6 201222:44Tinsley (personal) won't travel to Indiana
Jamaal Tinsley (personal) won't travel to Indiana for Tuesday's game against the Pacers.
This leaves one head out of the 3-headed point guard monster on the shelf, and surely Pacers fans are disappointed because they wanted to give Tinsley the business.

Fri Feb 3 201203:00Welcome Back: Tinsley posts 9-6-13 line
Jamaal Tinsley started with Devin Harris (hamstring) and Earl Watson (ankle) out on Thursday, scoring nine points on 4-of-10 shooting with six rebounds, 13 assists, and two steals in his first action since the 2010 season.
Tinsley (34 minutes) was the only point guard available tonight and he looked pretty darn good with all things considered. Whenever Harris (questionable for Saturday) and Watson (out indefinitely) return to action, his value will go down the tube, but if you need a short-term plug-in at the point give him a look.
