Tue Jun 10 201401:49Gavin Floyd earns first win since return
Gavin Floyd finally earned his first win since Tommy John surgery after pitching 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball against the Rockies at Coors Field on Monday.
Corey Dickerson's seventh-inning homer was the only damage. Floyd entered with a fine 2.80 ERA in six starts, but he had an 0-2 record anyway, even though the Braves were 3-3 in his outings. He's hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his seven starts. Since he also went winless in five starts prior to surgery last year, the win tonight was his first since Oct. 3, 2012.

Tue Jun 3 201422:25Floyd gives up 10 hits against Mariners
Gavin Floyd gave up 10 hits in his five innings of work Tuesday, allowing five runs -- three earned -- in a no-decision against the Mariners.
Floyd walked one while striking out four. He's made six starts since coming off the disabled list, and Tuesday's was the first in which he's allowed more than four runs. The right-hander has a 2.80 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 31/9 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings this year. He gets the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Sunday.

Sat May 24 201400:02Floyd gives up two runs in no-decision
Gavin Floyd continued to impress Friday, allowing two runs in 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rockies.
Floyd scattered seven hits while walking none and striking out seven. The only damage against him was an RBI ground out by Jordan Pacheco in the second inning and a solo homer by Michael Cuddyer in the sixth. The 31-year-old has a 2.49 ERA and 24/5 K/BB ratio in 25 1/3 innings since coming off the disabled list and should be on the mixed league radar.

Sun May 18 201418:09Gavin Floyd labors through 5 1/3 innings
Gavin Floyd labored through 5 1/3 innings Sunday, allowing four runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and three walks before escaping with a no-decision in a 6-5 win over the Cardinals.
Peter Bourjos reached base after a strikeout with two outs in the second inning, which is why three of the runs were unearned. Still, Floyd was sloppy in this one, needing 95 pitches to record 16 outs. He has a deceiving 2.41 so far but will be a shaky fantasy option next week against the Rockies.

Tue May 13 201401:05SP Floyd solid again in loss to Giants
Gavin Floyd gave up four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss against the Giants on Monday.
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez may have made a mistake in sending Floyd out for the seventh inning in a 1-1 game. Three runs later and the game was over. Gonzalez elected to keep Floyd in the rotation in lieu of going to a six-man operation, and it's obvious that the right-hander will be asked to earn his keep going forward. So far, so good. In two starts since his return from Tommy John surgery, Floyd (2.70 ERA) has allowed only four earned runs total. The veteran takes on the Cardinals on Sunday.

Wed May 7 201419:20Gonzalez: Floyd staying in Braves rotation
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Wednesday that Gavin Floyd will stay in the Braves rotation.
"I don't want to go six-man rotation," Gonzalez said about the rotation. "I don't think it works. I don't think it's good. But (Floyd) is one guy that would not go to the bullpen, I don't think, just because of the Tommy John. We all know how the bullpen thing is. You get up. You get down. You go in. You got to warm up in 15 (pitches), and I don't want to do that to him." It's unclear who will get removed from the rotation to make room for Floyd, but Alex Wood appears to be the easiest and most likely choice.

Tue May 6 201421:56Floyd allows one run over seven in return
Making his season debut Tuesday, Gavin Floyd allowed one run on six hits over seven innings but settled for a no-decision against the Cardinals.
In his first start since April 27 of last year, Floyd showed no ill effects of the Tommy John surgery he underwent last May. The right-hander walked two while striking out five in the outing. The stagnant Braves offense couldn't get Floyd his first win of the year as well, but it was still a very positive showing for the 31-year-old. His next start will come Monday at the Giants.

Fri May 2 201420:34Braves to activate Gavin Floyd on Sunday
The Braves plan to activate Gavif Floyd (elbow) from the disabled list on Sunday.
It remains unclear however, what his role will be upon returning to the team. With all five of their starting pitchers in the rotation throwing the ball well, Floyd could be used as a long reliever out of the bullpen until a need arises. His fantasy value will be minimal until he's getting the ball every fifth day.

Wed Apr 30 201419:44Floyd expected to be activated over weekend
Gavin Floyd (elbow) is expected to be activated by the Braves over the weekend.
Floyd has exhausted his 30-day rehabilitation period, so he'll need to be activated by Sunday unless he gets further injured. He'll throw a bullpen session on Friday, and if feels good he'll be activated. "When he's ready to go, we'll put him in here some place," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "Plug him in." With a full rotation, that place may be the bullpen for the time being.

Gavin Floyd (elbow) lasted just 1 1/3 innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk.
He didn't record any strikeouts. The Braves were hoping Floyd could make it through three frames, but he had to be removed earlier than that as he approached his pitch limit. Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Floyd hopes to join the Braves' rotation in early May.
