He did not appear in the series finale. Thornburg tossed two scoreless innings in two appearances in the four-game series. The righty has a 2.96 ERA in 24.1 innings of work.

RHP Tyler Thornburg allowed a season-high four earned runs on three hits -- including a home run by Angels OF Mike Trout -- but remains entrenched as the Brewers' set-up man. Thornburg has appeared in 11 games this season and has not allowed a run in 11 of those appearances while striking out 16 in 11 2/3 innings of work.

RHP Tyler Thornburg worked a scoreless inning Sunday and has now made three appearances without allowing a run this season. He's struck out five during that span while approaching the mid-90s on the radar gun, which manager Craig Counsell thinks is a reflection that Thornburg is healthy and close to regaining the form that made him a dominant reliever in 2014.

It's possible that Thornburg could replace Kyle Lohse in the starting rotation, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel speculates.
Manager Craig Counsell was discussing Lohse's performance Sunday and said that all players must be accountable for their performance, possibly suggesting that he could be out. Thornburg relieve Lohse on Sunday and has pitched as a starter before.

Thornburg was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.
Thornburg will come up to presumably take the roster spot of Jonathan Broxton, who was dealt to the Cardinals earlier Friday. The 26-year-old has made six appearances for the Brewers this season, allowing six earned runs on 16 hits in 9.2 innings. In 17 starts at Triple-A, he's 2-7 with a 5.28 ERA. He'll provide bullpen depth for Milwaukee over the final two months of the season.

Thornburg allowed one earned run over six innings in a start with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Wednesday. He gave up seven hits and posted a 7:3 K:BB ratio in the game.
Wednesday's outing was Thornburg's best outing since being transitioned back to a starting role in late April. His 3.98 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 40.2 innings over eight starts don't jump off the page, but the ERA looks a little better when considering six of his eight starts have come in the thin air of Colorado. Thornburg has not started a game for the Brewers since 2013, but given the way things line up, he appears to be the top option to fill next Tuesday's open spot in the big league rotation.

Thornburg is an option to be called up to start Tuesday's game in St. Louis, the Journal-Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt reports.
With Wily Peralta on the 15-day DL with a rib-cage strain the Brewers need to add a fifth pitcher to the rotation for Tuesday's start. Taylor Jungmann is the other option, according to manager Craig Counsell. While it is hard to fully trust the numbers Thornburg and Jungmann have at Triple-A Colorado Springs (given the extreme hitting environment), neither pitcher should be expected to be very effective as a big-league starter.

Thornburg owns a 2.55 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 12:5 K:BB rate in 17.2 innings over four starts with Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Thornburg is working as a starter for Colorado Springs after opening the season as a reliever for the big league club, and the early results have been promising, particularly with three of his starts coming in the thin air of Colorado. The Brewers' other Triple-A starters have all struggled mightily this season, so at this point Thornburg would likely be the top option should the club need to call up a starting pitcher from the minors.

Thornburg will join the starting rotation at Triple-A Colorado Springs, MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports.
Thornburg was off to a rough start, allowing 13 runs (six earned) in his first 9.2 innings of 2015. He'll now be stretched out as a starter, with the organization hoping this will help get the righty back on track. It seems likely Thornburg will be back with the Brewers at some point this season.
Wed Apr 22 201511:20Thornburg optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday
Thornburg was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday.
Thornburg's move to the minors could be to stretch him out in case of injury or struggles from a member in the rotation. The Brewers recalled Rob Wooten to take his place in the bullpen.
Tue Mar 31 201516:03With Rob Wooten optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday
With Rob Wooten optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Thornburg will make the Opening Day roster, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Thornburg was already expected to make the roster, and he'll now be joined by Michael Blazek, who is also a candidate for spot starts and long-relief work. Both pitchers have been stretched out this spring, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out once the Brewers have need of a sixth starters.
Mon Feb 23 201512:37Thornburg (elbow) 100 percent healthy
Thornburg (elbow) is 100 percent healthy, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Thornburg's 2014 season was cut short due to an elbow injury, but the setback will not be an issue as spring training gets going. Thornburg worked his way into the late-inning mix last season, but the Brewers may stretch him out this spring to fill a long relief role out of the gate.

Thornburg (elbow) believes he will have no restrictions at spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
While Thornburg's opinion won't be the final one (that belongs to the medical staff), but it appears he is feeling good heading into camp. His 2015 season was derailed by the elbow injury, but showed extreme promise in the early part of the season. Over the first month, Thornburg posted a 0.61 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 17 strikeouts in 14.2 innings. Although his numbers fell off in May and then early June before going on the disabled list, the drop off could be related to the elbow issue. Thornburg should have a spot in the Brewers' bullpen out of spring training, but it's possible he will switch to a long relief role in 2015.

Thornburg (elbow) believes he will be ready for the start of spring training, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Thornburg was shut down in early June due to elbow soreness and never returned in 2014. He started the season strong but struggled before being shut down likely because of the elbow issue. The 26-year-old will likely start the season in a long relief role for the Brewers in 2015, but was used in some late inning relief for the club in 2014 and could find himself making similar appearances again this season.
Fri Aug 15 201421:09Thornburg (elbow) will not return this season
Thornburg (elbow) will not return this season, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Shut down since early June due to elbow soreness, Thornburg was recently treated with a platelet-rich plasma injection and will not have enough time to make it back this season. A ligament tear was quickly ruled out by the team, so Thornburg would seem to stand a fairly good chance of being ready for spring training.
Fri Aug 1 201415:19Thornburg (elbow) still not throwing off mound
Thornburg (elbow) still is not throwing off a mound, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Thornburg was moved to the 60-day DL on Thursday, but that won't affect his return timetable as he's been out since early June as a result of the elbow soreness. Tommy John surgery has been ruled out, but the team will be cautious given the nature of the injury, so a September return seems like a best-case scenario.
Thu Jul 31 201414:23Thornburg (elbow) transferred to 60-day DL on Thursday
Thornburg (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Thursday.
Thornburg has been out since early June and isn't making fast progress, so the move to the 60-day DL doesn't impact his return timetable. It simply allows the Brewers to create space for outfielder Gerardo Parra, who was acquired from the Diamondbacks in a deadline deal Thursday.
