It's a rough break for the right-hander, as he was working his way back from Tommy John surgery but couldn't ever get over the hump. Obviously, now we know why. Billingsley won't throw for three months and is facing a six-month rehab process overall. He will be a free agent this winter after the Dodgers give him a $3 million buyout. The righty has made just two starts over the previous two seasons.

While it's an encouraging sign that an MRI revealed no damage to his surgically-repaired UCL in his right elbow, it's unclear what the next step will be for Billingsley to deal with the new ailment. At this point, it's unlikely that Billingsley will pitch for the Dodgers this season.
