The Twins are encouraged by Alexi Casilla's strong performance in winter ball, according to Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tibune.
Casilla batted .336 during 31 regular season games for Gigantes del Cibao and will be a major upgrade over Tsuyoshi Nishioka and Luke Hughes if he can stay healthy. The Twins offered Casilla $1.065 million when arbitration figures were exchanged earlier this month.
