Jared Burton (shoulder) recently had a setback during his rehab and has been shut down.

Burton is dealing with an impingement in his shoulder. "He went to throw and felt the same thing he had before," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "That's why these things are so hard to predict. You don't know." It's unclear how long he'll be shut down, and his return date is obviously now up in the air.

Burton first began feeling the discomfort on Monday and hasn't progressed very much this week. The Reds aren't sure yet how long he might be sidelined.

I threw on back-to-back days and it may have been a little stiffer than usual. It's nothing a little rest won't fix. I'll be able to crank it up in a few days." It doesn't sound like he'll need a DL-stint. At least not yet.

Burton gets the call now that Triple-A Louisville has been eliminated from the International League playoffs. The 29-year-old right-hander has spent the entire season with the Bats, posting a 2.61 ERA and 34/16 K/BB ratio over 33 relief appearances.
