Thu Dec 16 201016:08Dodgers finalize 3-year deal with Guerrier
Dodgers signed RHP Matt Guerrier to a three-year, $12 million contract.
It's rarely wise to hand a three-year deal to a reliever, but the average annual salary isn't overwhelming and Guerrier has been one of baseball's best setup men over the last several seasons. He posted a solid 3.17 ERA and 42/22 K/BB ratio over 71 innings this past year for Minnesota. The Dodgers will use him in the eighth inning as a bridge to closer Jonathan Broxton.
Wed Dec 15 201017:46Dodgers, Guerrier close to wrapping up deal
According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, reliever Matt Guerrier is scheduled to undergo a pre-signing physical on Thursday in Los Angeles.
Guerrier and the Dodgers agreed to a three-year, $12 million deal on Wednesday afternoon and it will go final once the right-hander passes his physical Thursday. Guerrier, 32, has shown a few signs of wearing down, but he posted a respectable 3.17 ERA and 42/22 K/BB ratio over 71 innings in 2010 for the Twins and should make a fine setup man in L.A. next year.

Wed Dec 15 201012:02Dodgers, Guerrier close to three-year deal
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Dodgers are closing in on a three-year, $12 million contract with Matt Guerrier.
It's not finalized yet, but it sounds like this one will get done. Guerrier has been one of the most under-appreciated relievers in baseball over the past few seasons, but this is a tremendous amount of money to give to a 32-year-old reliever with a declining strikeout rate. The Red Sox were reportedly only willing to give him a two-year deal with a vesting option for a third.

Wed Dec 15 201011:02Dodgers ink Guerrier to three-year deal
A source tells Erik Boland of New York Newsday that the Dodgers have signed Matt Guerrier to a three-year contract.
Terms aren't yet available, but Guerrier was a popular target this winter since the Twins declined to offer the Type A free agent arbitration. The 32-year-old right-hander has a 3.38 ERA over parts of seven seasons in the big leagues, including a 3.17 ERA and 42/22 K/BB ratio over 71 innings in 2010. His strikeout rate has declined sharply since the start of 2009, but he has has made at least 70 appearances in each of the last four seasons.

Sat Dec 11 201008:57Red Sox have made offer to Guerrier
The Red Sox have made a contract offer to Matt Guerrier, according to WEEI's Rob Bradford.
Guerrier, 32, posted a 3.17 ERA and 42/22 K/BB ratio over 71 innings with the Twins this past season. He is extremely durable, having made at least 73 appearances in each of the last four seasons, but he profiles as more of a 6th/7th inning type than a setup man with his lack of swing-and-miss stuff.

Wed Dec 1 201016:38Blue Jays showing interest in Guerrier
According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Blue Jays are showing interest in Matt Guerrier.
The Jays are also in on Jesse Crain, though they may be less willing to spend on their bullpen now that Jason Frasor has accepted arbitration. Guerrier, 32, posted a 3.17 ERA and 42/22 K/BB ratio over 71 innings with the Twins this past season. Either pitcher would likely fit in a set-up role.

Sun Nov 28 201012:18Report: Red Sox interested in RP Guerrier
The Red Sox have shown interest in free agent relief pitcher Matt Guerrier, according to Alex Speier of WEEI.com.
Guerrier made $3.15 million in 2010 while going 5-7 with a 3.17 ERA in 74 appearances for the Twins, who declined to offer him salary arbitration after the season. The 32-year-old would have been a Type A free agent had the Twins tendered the offer, but now he will not cost his new team a draft pick if he signs elsewhere. Guerrier has a career 3.38 ERA in almost 400 appearances.

Tue Nov 23 201022:50Twins decline arbitration to Guerrier
The Twins declined to offer arbitration to Matt Guerrier.
Interesting. The Twins could have really hampered Guerrier's job prospects by offering arbitration, because he is a setup man with a Type A free agent distinction. Instead, they are giving him unabridged access to the open market. Guerrier made $3.15 million this past season while going 5-7 with a 3.17 ERA in 74 appearances. He has a career 3.38 ERA in almost 400 appearances.
