Rupp is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals, according to Stephen Gross of The Morning Call.

Rupp will get the night off after playing each of the last four days. Carlos Ruiz will get the nod behind the plate in Rupp's place.

He has just seven home runs and 23 RBI to go with a modest .255 average, but he has been on fire during the month of August with five long ones and a .340 average over just 47 at bats during the month.

Rupp's fifth homer gave the Phillies an insurance run on their way to a 2-0 win. Although he plays in about half of the team's games, he has four bombs in his 11 August starts while hitting .325.

Rupp went 1-for-3 with a homer and four RBI in Wednesday's road win over Arizona.

In fact, he was responsible for bringing a fifth run home, which he did by heroically grounding into a double play. Rupp is starting about half the Phillies' games behind the plate, and he's smashed homers in three of his last six, but still has very limited fantasy appeal.

Chalk this up as a regular day off for Rupp, who has essentially been in a timeshare with Carlos Ruiz since the All-Star break. The 26-year-old Rupp was working on a four-game hit streak before going 0-for-3 in Saturday's contest.

Rupp cracked a three-run homer in Saturday's win over the Braves.

Rupp has settled into more of a timeshare at catcher with Carlos Ruiz lately more than a pure backup role, but it hasn't done much to jumpstart his production. Even with Saturday's homer -- his second of the season -- Rupp is batting a woeful .226/.288/.322 across 160 plate appearances.

Rupp is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves.

Rupp has made three straight starts behind the plate, collecting four total base hits during that span. He's gradually cutting into the playing time of Carlos Ruiz, but it will be Ruiz that gets the nod Sunday afternoon.

Rupp went 1-for-5 with a two run home run in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.

Rupp was making his third straight start for the Phillies and his 10th of the month. He is splitting time evenly with Carlos Ruiz at this point. That arrangement could continue if Rupp keeps swinging the bat well. He is hitting .261 with a home run and six RBI in 88 at-bats this season.

Manager Ryne Sandberg said Rupp could earn some additional playing time with the weather starting to heat up, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Rupp made his third start in five games Friday against the Pirates. He has seven hits in his last 19 at-bats. Starting catcher Carlos Ruiz has hit just .234 over his last 30 games which has helped Rupp get into the lineup a bit more frequently of late.

Rupp went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 loss against the Reds.

The backup catcher knocked in both runs with two outs, providing the only offense for Philadelphia as they struggled to get on base against Reds starter Jon Moscot. Wednesday's start for Rupp marked his third of June and 19th of the season.

Rupp went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Mets.

Rupp has made 14 starts for the Phillies this season and is hitting .204/.273/.286 in 49 at-bats. He will continue to see a start or two per week as Carlos Ruiz's backup.

Rupp went 1-for-3 with a walk in the Phillies' loss to the Marlins on Thursday.

Rupp was making his fifth start of the season. He'll continue to see around two starts a week as the Phillies try to keep Carlos Ruiz rested and healthy this season.

Rupp is a likely candidate to earn a roster spot as the Phillies' backup catcher, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Rupp has made five starts this spring which is second only to starter Carlos Ruiz. He is competing with Koyie Hill, Rene Garcia and Tommy Joseph for the backup job.
