Wed Jul 20 201123:19Jesus Guzman has four-RBI night
Jesus Guzman went 3-for-5 with a double, run scored and four RBI in San Diego's blowout win over the Marlins on Wednesday.
Slowly earning more playing time with Anthony Rizzo's struggles growing more pronounced, Guzman has now driven in eight runs in his past two starts. Productive throughout a long minor-league career, he's a low-risk flier for NL-only league players.

Sat Jul 16 201123:44Jesus Guzman knocks in four for Padres
Jesus Guzman had a three-run homer and an RBI single against the Giants on Saturday.
Both hits came off Barry Zito. Guzman was called up mostly because of his numbers against southpaws in Triple-A, and he's doing a nice job as Anthony Rizzo's platoon partner lately. He's batting .292 with two homers and eight RBI in 48 at-bats.

Sat Jun 25 201101:36Jesus Guzman hits first homer
Pinch-hitter Jesus Guzman hit his first major league homer off the bench Friday in the win over the Braves.
It came in his 24th at-bat of the season. He also had 20 at-bats with the Giants back in 2009. The homer also gave him his first career run scored and his second and third runs batted in. He's trying to make a case to stick around as a part-timer following the end of interleague play.

Thu Jun 16 201115:54Padres call up Jesus Guzman from Triple-A
Padres purchased the contract of INF-OF Jesus Guzman from Triple-A Tucson.
He'll replace Jorge Cantu, who was designated for assignment following Wednesday's game. Guzman, 27, was batting .332/.423/.529 with eight homers and 57 RBI over his first 63 games at the Triple-A level this season. He has primarily played third base over the past two seasons, but also has experience at first base and left field. He could be a useful righty bat off the bench.

Sat Nov 20 201013:59Pads sign Guzman to minor league deal
Padres signed 1B Jesus Guzman to a minor league deal.
Guzman is an interesting name. He hit .321/.376/.510 with 18 homers in 445 at-bats for Triple-A Fresno in the Giants organization this past season and has produced consistently impressive numbers the last couple years. Now 26, he hasn't gotten much of a shot at the major league level, but he'll attempt to earn a bench spot with the Pads in spring training. It's not out of the question that he could get some at-bats at first base if (when) Adrian Gonzalez is dealt.
