Matusz will come off the suspended list for Sunday's game, MASN Sports reports.

With the appeal committee upholding the length of the original suspension, Matusz figures to begin serving the suspension immediately with an eye toward returning sometime next weekend.

The appeal hearing on Matusz's eight-game suspension will take place Jun. 3, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.

The length of his suspension will be decided on that date and it will go into effect immediately. Until then he will continue to pitch out of the Orioles' bullpen.

When healthy, Matusz is the top left-hander out of the bullpen outside of Zach Britton, the ninth inning option. Matusz is sitting at a 2.92 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, but he is has just a 7::8 K/BB ratio.

There has been no news that Matusz is in contention for a rotation spot. The Orioles might be looking at Matusz as a long reliever. This would be a bit of a surprise considering he had been expected to be the team's top situational lefty. Matusz's role might depend on other pitchers in camp. If Ubaldo Jimenez is squeezed out of the rotation, he would likely be the long reliever. If Miguel Gonzalez or Kevin Gausman do not make the rotation, either would likely be sent to the minors. The perplexing thing is that if Matusz is the long reliever, they might go with a less proven option as a situational lefthander in T.J. McFarland or Wesley Wright and the Orioles will be in a roster pinch if that is the case.
