Sat Apr 9 201115:20Casey Coleman summoned from Triple-A
Cubs recalled RHP Casey Coleman from Triple-A Iowa.
Coleman will make the start Sunday in place of the injured Randy Wells. The 23-year-old is underwhelming but is usually around the plate and the Cubbies hope he can give them some adequate innings. He posted a 4.11 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 57 games last season.

Fri Apr 8 201111:39Casey Coleman to start Sunday
Casey Coleman will make his first start in place of Randy Wells on Sunday against the Brewers.
A 23-year-old righty, Coleman posted a 4.11 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 57 major-league innings a season ago. A finesse pitcher prone to control problems, Coleman isn't likely to be worth a look in NL-only leagues during his short stay in Chicago's rotation.

Tue Sep 28 201021:05Coleman to start for Cubs on Friday
Cubs interim manager Mike Quade confirmed Casey Coleman will start against the Astros on Friday.
Jeff Samardzija was also a possibility to start, but Quade ultimately elected to go with Coleman. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 4.68 ERA in his first 11 big-league appearances, seven of them starts. He's survived with a pretty shaky 25/24 K/BB ratio over 50 innings, so we're not buying him as a fantasy option.

Sat Sep 25 201016:07Coleman impressive in win over Cards
Casey Coleman allowed three runs -- two earned -- over seven innings in a 7-3 win over the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon.
Coleman scattered five hits -- four of them singles -- while whiffing four and walking a pair. Since lasting just 4 1/3 innings in his first major league start back on August 18, Coleman has logged six innings or more in six consecutive outings. Still, with a pretty ugly 25/24 K/BB ratio over his first 50 innings in the big leagues, the young right-hander is a pretty shaky fantasy option, even in NL-only formats. He'll finish off the season with an outing against the Padres next week.
Sat Sep 18 201022:04Casey Coleman leads Cubs to win over Fish
Casey Coleman limited the Marlins to three earned runs over six innings Saturday as the Cubs nabbed a 5-3 victory.
Coleman didn't have his best stuff and hasn't been overpowering since arriving in the big leagues in early August. But he allowed just five hits and struck out five batters Saturday in south Florida, getting the job done in a situation where other Cubs starters have failed this season. He might be a decent option in NL-only leagues down the stretch.
Mon Aug 23 201022:42Coleman earns first ML win vs. Nats
Casey Coleman earned his first major league win by tossing 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball in a 9-1 win over the Nationals on Monday night.
The only run scored on a groundout by Ivan Rodriguez in the bottom of the seventh inning. Coleman limited the Nationals to just three hits and two walks while striking out three. He has likely bought himself at least another turn in the starting rotation with tonight's outing, but he doesn't miss enough bats to be fantasy relevant in any format.
Wed Aug 18 201017:39Cubs' Coleman loses first major league start
Casey Coleman took a loss in his first major league start after giving up three runs in 4 1/3 innings Wednesday versus the Padres.
Coleman allowed six hits, walked three, hit a batter and struck out just one in the sloppy outing. He'll probably get one more start, but we think the Cubs should be giving Thomas Diamond the extended look instead.
Sun Aug 15 201018:03Coleman replaces Diamond in rotation
Casey Coleman will take Thomas Diamond's spot in the Cubs rotation.
Coleman posted a 4.07 ERA in 20 starts at Triple-A and owns a 8.64 ERA in 8 1/3 relief innings for the Cubs, although he has been unscored upon over his last four frames. Coleman doesn't miss many bats and will need his sinker going to have any success. The 23-year-old is not fantasy relevant.

Sun Aug 15 201009:44Coleman could take Diamond's spot in rotation
Casey Coleman might take Thomas Diamond's spot in the Cubs rotation.
''I was impressed with Coleman [Friday] night,'' manager Lou Piniella said. ''It looks like he settled down. He looks comfortable out there.'' Coleman holds an 8.64 ERA in 8 1/3 relief innings for the Cubs but has been unscored upon over his last four frames. He held a 4.07 ERA in 20 starts at Triple-A. Coleman doesn't miss many bats, but if he has his sinker going, he can be effective.
