Wed Mar 27 201300:01Jason Kubel exits with ankle injury
Jason Kubel left Tuesday's game with left ankle discomfort.
It doesn't sound like a big deal, but the D'Backs should provide more information about his status Wednesday. Kubel has sported a .154/.298/.231 batting line with one homer this spring.

Fri Mar 15 201319:57Jason Kubel (knee) won't play until Sunday
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson indicated Friday that Jason Kubel (knee) won't return to the lineup until Sunday.
He's been dealing with soreness in his left knee for the past week, and the team wants to play it cautiously and let him rest, rather than risking further injury. At this point, it doesn't appear to be something that would put his availability for Opening Day in jeopardy.

Thu Jan 24 201319:28Jason Kubel won't be traded
Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said Thursday that the club will not trade Jason Kubel this offseason.
That was the assumption following the Justin Upton deal, as the D'Backs planned to trade one or the other in order to solve their "problem" of having too many outfielders. Kubel, who batted .253/.327/.506 with 30 homers and an .833 OPS this past season, will return as the regular in left field.

Wed Jan 23 201319:12O's not convinced Kubel makes them better
Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun hears that the Orioles are "not convinced" Jason Kubel would make them dramatically better in 2013.
It's possible the O's actually believe that, but they could just be trying to get the Diamondbacks to accept their current offer. Encina writes that Kubel would likely see most of his at-bats in the DH slot in place of Wilson Betemit, though Nate McLouth and Nolan Reimold don't exactly pose a big roadblock in left field. The D'Backs are expected to deal either Kubel or Justin Upton soon.

Sat Jan 5 201317:39D'backs seek pitching from O's in Kubel deal
According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Diamondbacks are seeking young pitchers from the Orioles in return for Jason Kubel.
Heyman notes that to this point, the Orioles don't appear interested in doing so. It appears increasingly likely that the D'Backs will trade either Kubel or Justin Upton in the coming weeks, as they appear to be shopping both at the present time.

Sat Dec 22 201220:11Kubel or Upton not a certainty to be traded
Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said Saturday that despite the signing of Cody Ross, that neither Jason Kubel or Justin Upton were guaranteed to be traded.
Towers elaborated, explaining he has ownership backing to hang onto all four outfielders and enter the season with a payroll in the neighborhood of $95 million. They could choose to play Ross in center field, and let Adam Eaton start the season at Triple-A, but trading Kubel or Upton still appears to be the most likely scenario.

Sat Dec 22 201216:34White Sox have talked about Jason Kubel
Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the White Sox have had internal discussions about Jason Kubel.
They also had talks with the Diamondbacks about acquiring Justin Upton earlier in the winter, so there could be a potential match here. The Snakes were at one point known to have interest in White Sox shortstop Alexi Ramirez, though that's likely to have changed with the recent acquisitions of Cliff Pennington and Didi Gregorius.

Sat Dec 22 201212:58Diamondbacks expected to shop Jason Kubel
According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, Jason Kubel has a good chance to be traded following the Diamondbacks signing of Cody Ross.
With Ross signed, the Diamondbacks have a surplus of outfielders and are expected to continue to shop Kubel. ESPN's Jim Bowden considers the Rangers, Mets, Yankees, Orioles, and Braves as possible trade partners. Kubel, 30, is under contract for $7.5 million next season with a $7.5 million mutual option for 2014.

Tue Dec 4 201221:43D'Backs likelier to trade Kubel than Upton
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal hears that the chances of the Diamondbacks trading Jason Kubel are higher than that of them dealing Justin Upton.
It could be that they've come to the realization that they aren't going to get what they want for Upton, as the Rangers seem dead set on hanging on to Elvis Andrus and Jurickson Profar. And, while Kubel is coming off a better season, he obviously doesn't have nearly the upside of Upton. It's not a bad problem to have, as Arizona has four starting-worthy outfielders.

Tue Dec 4 201214:18D-Backs could trade Kubel soon
Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com hears that some think the Diamondbacks could trade Jason Kubel as soon as Tuesday.
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reported early Tuesday that the D-Backs were discussing trade scenarios involving Kubel. Moving him would leave Arizona with a starting outfield of Gerardo Parra, Adam Eaton and Justin Upton from left to right. Of course, the Diamondbacks are also talking to teams about Upton right now.

Tue Dec 4 201208:17D-Backs considering trading Jason Kubel
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Diamondbacks have been involved in trade dialogue involving Jason Kubel.
There's been plenty of speculation about the future of Justin Upton, but Rosenthal hears that the D-Backs has had at least as much trade talk about Kubel. The 30-year-old outfielder batted .253/.327/.506 with 30 homers and an .833 OPS this past season and is under contract for $7.5 million next season with a $7.5 million mutual option for 2014.

Thu Oct 11 201223:33D'Backs could trade Kubel or Parra
Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said the team is trying to decide whether Jason Kubel or Gerardo Parra is a better fit as their everyday left fielder in 2013.
It's possible the "loser" of the two ends up being traded to short up another area. Kubel is the much better offensive player, but Parra is fantastic defensively and is under team control through 2015. "When you put a club together, it's more of a puzzle," Towers said. "What you do at short and third maybe changes what your need is in left. If you get more offense on the corner, then maybe there's more of a premium for the defender in left. If you don't get the offense and you get the defense in the infield, you have to have your power somewhere."
